Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Just out of curiosity @DragonParadox , would this charm have any interesting interactions with the outer gates?

The battlefield at the gates being one continuous fight since the dawn of the age (or whenever the outsiders showed up) sounds like a significant place for something fueled by violence.

No way Molly could guess that, like with the Coins she has never encountered the Gates. That said the place of an eternal cosmic battle would certainly trigger the charm.

Here are Dragonparadox quotes about Cyberdevils and hacking capability.

Even without hacking looking up things online as long as they are public becomes a free action since it's not like your phone has much else to do when you are not using it.

Mind the higher the dots of allies the better the hacking. You guys are not going to be able to hack into the Pentagon and whatever spooks might know about the supernatural with Allies 1. Otherwise yeah there is a lot of utility in there especially since a demon is not limited to mortal...

Unfortunately no, Clippy cannot hack phones or anything else really, she has no hacking ability until you buy that second dot of allies

It allows them to hack systems that they arent inside, and computers/cellphones/camera networks we cant reach.
And yes, Word of QM is that we need to buy 2 dots/6XP to enable it at a minimum. More dots is better, but 2 dots is minimum.
If you want to keep track of the Daedalus people, you need this.

The original post was about hacking the cops, one dot would give you the equivalent of amateur hackers, like some kids with knowledge of coding and not too many morals, that is about the skill of Cyberdevils one. Two is when you get into the ranks of the professionals, the people who can reliably hack local institutions.

Yes that vote is fine if you want hacker cyberdevils

More dots is better, but 2 dots is minimum.

If you want to keep track of the Daedalus people and their plans, you need this.
If you want to check a person's criminal record, you need this.
If you want to vanish someone's computer records, you need this.

Lots of applications for the ability to hack computer systems in modern society.
Hows that different from making the devils to do it ourselves. What specifically is better.

Do we not have to spend an action populating the city with them?

Cause im not sure spending 6xp to save one action is... worth it?

Just out of curiosity, is Mathews picking up Cindy tonight?
Or the next day?

Tonight.

Without the allies cost they just cannot hack at all, it is just public information. Mechanically what buying that Background does it allow them to learn how to apply their skills in the Wicked City to the mortal world's internet.

@DragonParadox can the necessity of the allies merit for hacker cyberdevils be substituted for manually putting cyberdevils in places?

Yes as long as you have line of sight. A computer that is the initial target of the charm has no secrets from its new tenant because... well it is the demon's brain. It's why you know all of Wright's passwords for instance.

Not all computers are easy to get to though.

Such an anklet would only work if it truly does do imprisonment.

It only works if the situation is predictable and under control.
Any deviations will mess such cheesing up.

It's more trouble than it's worth.
It's not, because in an unexpected situation we can just break the anklet. IT doesn't even need to be that sturdy, and the damage to the anklet doesn't have to be irreparable.
The plan you're voting for doesnt actually vote for cyberdevils.
Just pointing that out.
Cyberdevils, as well as other minions, are for the next Xp spending phase, in my opinion.

I may as well vote properly for my plans since people are voting for them so the tally makes sense. XP numbers are in the link Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files) Crossover - Fantasy

I thought it had to actually be able to be a meaningful impediment before it counted for the charm, which is why I've been against any exploit of CCC that takes place outside of a controlled environment.

A crafting room is one thing, but a suit or anklet like that is asking for someone to exploit it against us.

cyber devil hacking is only gonna get more relevant as time goes on and modern devices become even more modern

It does indeed have to meaningfully impede you at least as much as having to smash your way through a solid locked door would.

@uju32 how do you feel about the technology increase?

As an aside. You do seem interested in the cyberdeilvs side of things.

I just really feel like The low technology score is holding us back. Quite a bit.

Huh, I'd like to buy up another dot of Appearance if we could so we can finish mitgating that particular chargen issue, though I suppose we aren't in a terminal rush for it, even if it probably would help.

So, to check and clarify: if we make an ankle bracelet equipped with a shocker strong enough to cause our leg muscle to seize, and sturdy enough that breaking it requires as much effort as breaking a door, would it be able to trigger CCC?

The idea is either to link it to Clippy, or have it equipped with sensors that can tell if we move enough to trigger a "don't allow us to leave unless X" condition.
