Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

There are many things that can outright ignore certain forms of damage. Hell even the alphas can treat normal bullets as bashing thanks to their regen.
I said not immune not that its easy or that hax to prevent it from mattering doesn't exist. Just note that 'most' things can be dealt with from a mundane standpoint it might take a missile or at least a rocket launcher for particularly powerful beings. But, most beings can be taken down by sufficient mundane dakka. Of course conditional immunities, going into the nevernever, being a ghost or some similar thing, or just a straight up very high threshold for damage can mean those methods aren't very useful most of the time. also requiring rocket launchers as the bare minimum isn't very good when dealing with a masquerade.

I don't remember how exalted stunts worked for infernals, but i'm pretty sure 'In the name of the moon, I will punish you' reference is probably some kind of faux-pas.

@DragonParadox, what's our positioning relative to Katrina? How far from her are we, how far from her car is she, and how far is the car from us? Was the car pulled into the driveway or backed in?

[X] Artemis1992

[X] Try to persuade Matthews to turn the tables in Katrina, you can find Cindy afterwards with the Crown (Charisma+Empath Excelency still in effect)
-[X] Regardless what Matthews decides to do, strike now while you still have a bit of surprise on your side. If there's a chance, get the demon in her car to distract her by ramming during the fight.
Shouldn't you probably specify whether we do shintai or something for max possible damage from the surprise?

You need to copy the vote exactly or it does not work/count in the tally.

Doing shintai first avoids us getting damaged in our regular form.
Yes, but that is not my highest goal.

The first priority is to win the fight.
To do this, it is better to first damage her in our regular form and then switch to our undamaged Shintai, which functions like a full heal for the duration of the combat.
And hopefully she has already used up a trick or two at that point.

It does not work like that. Shintai has +4 Dex meaning we would be doing much more damage in shintai then out of it. It also means any one hit kill technique will be wasted on the shintai and not on us. If we want to do a LOT of damage to her, then going Shintai + Excellency is the best.

We only have 8 Essence so it is best used in Shintai and not out of it.

The magical girl cosplay has a practical role - the use of her true name to at least distract her.
We can use her true name without pretending to be Sailor Moon.

Our Shintai is 'a terror born from the Nuclear Radiance of the Long Night and the fear born from the Nightmare of Atomic Armageddon'. Pretending to be a magical girl will clash horrifically with that and just make us sound ridiculous.

Alright, here is my attempt to convert the single point style.

Single Point Shining Into the Void Style

Single Point Shining Into the Void is a sword style that emphasizes blinding speed and deadly-perfect finishing moves. Students learn to draw their blade as though it were an extension of their own body, transitioning effortlessly from the draw to a strike or parry.

Remade, with inspiration from Iaijutsu, it is a combative sword-drawing art but not necessarily as aggressive as the original.

Gathering Light Concentration (•)

The Blade flashes and heads roll. But not always is the best defending a good offense. Thus, one must sometimes employ their blinding speed to meet all attacks.
System: Reflexively spend 1 Mote. For the next (1 + Essence) rounds, all attacks against the Infernal must discard two successes for every 1 rolled. This applies before any re-rolls on the attacker's rolls, if such is applicable.

Shining Starfall Execution (••)

Committing fully to a lethal blow, one must cleave through their enemy with killing speed, punishing their failures with lethal intent.
System: When targeting an enemy who has attacked the Infernal in the last turn, increase the attack's base damage by (1 + Unmodified Wound Penalty of the enemy). Add another +1 to the damage for each of the following conditions if they are met:
  • the Infernal currently has Single Point Shining Into the Void Form active;
  • the target's attack failed to damage the Infernal;
  • the target's attack failed to strike the Infernal at all.

Single Point Shining Into the Void Form (•••)

There are countless rain drops in a storm. A master is one who can strike at all the falling rain drops without exceptions.
System: The Infernal spends 1 Mote and assumes the Single Point Shining into the Void Form. For the rest of the scene, she is immune to all penalties on her melee rolls and negates one success from all attacks directed against her.

If the Infernal strikes a target with a melee attack and successfully inflicts lethal or Aggravated damage, she may spend 1 Mote to enter Single Point Shining into the Void Form reflexively.

Liquid Steel Flow (••••)

The shortest distance between two points is not a straight line but an instant. An instant is all that is needed to close the gap or to open one.
System: Reflexively spend 1 Mote. At the end of the round, after all other characters have acted, roll an extra Melee attack against a single opponent. This Charm persists for the Infernal's (1 + Essence rating) in rounds, and may only be used while Single Point Shining into the Void Form is active.

Void-Slicing Wind (•••••)

Blinding speed and deadly-perfect finishing moves. This is the essence of the Single point shining into the Void style. What does it matter if you face one foe or a hundred, all shall die in an instant.
System: Reflexively spend 1 Mote. For the rest of the turn, when the Infernal makes a melee attack, the same is applied to all enemies within Melee range at the Infernal's full dice pool. This charm can only be used while Single Point Shining into the Void Form is active.

These charms are balanced/Modified by Holden's MA suppliment in Exalted Demake. I took a look at those charms before modifying them for use here.

True. How would you suggest I change this? The magical girl cosplay is not really the point, and is accidental to the whole write in. I wanted to confer that this is personal. That this strikes too close to home. That Molly utterly rejects this situation.

I really don't like fighting her near Matthew's place, not least because he might feel he has to get involved on her side.

They have his grandchild, he has every good reason to aid them now and I do not relish the thought of having to deal with with his magical fortress in the middle of the fight.

[X] Leave as instructed, if she plans to confront you on some lonely stretch of road you will know precisely where she is and have control of her car

-[x] A little girl's life hangs in the balance, so as much as you want to beat the bitch into roadkill, you walk away. You have a tracker on her car, you WILL find where she's going, and hopefully find Cindy.

They have his grandchild, that's his best reason to help us now.

Do you think the Thule Society will stop blackmailing him if he talks now?

Nothing will get better until Kattrin and her associates are dead.

Okay then.
I kinda disagree with you, I think the odds are slightly better if we take our forms in normal order, but as long as we fight I'm okay with this variant too.

My personal best case though would be to convince Matthews to help us. While she is attacked by multitudes of murderous spirits we might even beat her without Shintai.

I think attacking now is probably the right choice. Don't want to leave anyone kidnapped, after all, and the only people who could see us right now are the one who will hopefully be defeated very soon or mostly on our side. I just hope we have a good plan to get the hostage back, and the old guy has some way of not getting tracked by the nazi wizards. I wouldn't be surprised if Kemmler and his merry band made sure to get something from everyone to ensure they can find them back in the day.

There is some strategy to this.

Using Shintai later on means that we can avoid giving away too many tricks at once if we don't need to, and lets us basically reset our health track mid fight if we get into trouble. Since dropping Shintai deals 5 unsoakable bashing damage, so if she does beat our ass around the yard we come out into the fight injured for the second round.

You could just as easily claim that taking the extra bashing while injured is a disadvantage as well though.

It comes down to the evaluation of if we think she's likely to bust our Shintai after having fought baseline Molly for a while first, and how much we expect to be hampered by injury debuffs.

We're pretty resistant to that stuff, but still only have a baseline track, so if we fight my inclination would be to order the car to hit as hard as it can, then focus on pinning and disrupting her. While it does that, we draw and apply excellency but not TA. Instead we immediately go for a throat shot with GSNF since we just need to hit to deal 4 Agg damage.

That leaves us with 7 essence, so next turn we pop TA and go for another attack. If we don't need to use IPM that turn then slap her with GSNF again.

Best case we're down to 5 essence and she's eaten a minimum of 8 levels of Agg damage in 6 seconds, on top of whatever lethal damage the car and our first stab do. Worst case she still has to spend part of her action countering the car both rounds, so it should be much easier to get our hits in and avoid hers.

That is probably the point where we pop Shintai if she looks like she still wants to fight since it takes a turn of concentration. If she gets us particularly badly in the first exchange we might want to consider dropping the turn 2 attack for immediate transformation.

Nothing will get better until Kattrin and her associates are dead.

He has no reason to believe that Molly can take a Valkyrie.
This isn't blackmail this is a hostage situation and killing her is the least of what they can do to force his help, there are worse things than death.

Until we can secure his granddaughter or present a viable plan to save her we must assume he will act as a likely ally to the Thule Society.

They have his granddaughter man and he knows very well how terrible they can be.
