Sorry about revoting for the second time, but I'm good with any of these and it'd be annoying if going home lost because the votes for it were split between compatible options.

All of ya'll voting to go home should consider consolidating into a single voting plan.

I am incredibly disappointed that people voted to ignore the potentially time sensitive, potentially fun option of going out of town.
In favor of sitting down to watch an apartment that doesnt need watching.
Seriously, Dresden goes out of Chicago for cases. If he couldnt secure his home it would have been looted ages ago.

[X] Continue with the plan, this is more important than your mother throwing a hissy fit
Yeah no, we've been very accommodating to Charity since becoming an Exalt, more than we were before, it's time to remind our mom that we have agency beyond doing what she says, especially when there's good deeds to be doing.
Uh....What good deeds? Babysitting an apartment?

Harry's flat is protected by the wards of a White Council wizard who has access to both a spirit of knowledge and the shadow of a Fallen for technical advice, and is backstopped by a guardian spirit dog. Harry goes for multiday trips out of Chicago into Wisconsin and further afield without worry and the place remains secure.

Furthermore, Molly KNOWS Mouse is human-level sapient.
The only justification for Molly's being there was supposed to be a wellness check to make sure Mouse and Mister were getting fed and watered, not that she needed to physically guard the place.

You might have a point about good deeds if we had voted to return to Merominee this night, which was actually potentially time sensitive. But the majority of voters voted to stay in Chicago, where there is nothing that requires our preessing personal presence.
Drop your phone number with Mouse and go home.

Point of order:
Harry has a phone at home and in his office. Its a landline. Molly called him on it in chapter six of Proven Guilty a couple weeks ago to come bail her ex out of jail. We called him on it a couple updates ago to arrange the Merominee trip.

All we need to do is give Mouse our phone number, so he knows who to call.
No need for a burner phone.
But I'm not in the mood to do a new plan.

I thought about that, but I wasn't sure if he had the manual dexterity to dial a phone and figured Dresden wouldn't appreciate devil cooties on his phone.

Why exactly is this more important than Charity's "hissy fit" again? Especially from an IC perspective.

There are good odds that nothing happens, or that a magical guardian dog that favorably compares to an old school grey wolf with human grade intelligence can handle.

Regardless of what occurs, this messes up our standing with her. What do we do if she decides this is worth another indefinite grounding? Cause at that point we're pretty significantly throttled unless we vote to run away. Convincing her to let up a second time will be much harder than the first one.

Especially since we lack any specific IC information that justifies the risk, and probably shouldn't share it with with her if we do learn about Bob since each new leak is a risk.

Are we going to spend weeks or months of IC time cleaning this up and/or run away from home for this?

Magic dog. He's a lot more capable than he lets most people see.
And ultimately, I dont see anyone capable of breaking those wards without basically blowing up the building; dude upgraded thenfuck out of his wards after Storm Front, and again after Dead Beat.

There's a reason the Eebs resorted to burning the building down in Changes.
They couldnt get through the wards.

I don't actually expect them to get in, and I'd be somewhat surprised if someone tries since there are good odds the cops are still watching the place.

If someone does try something however, being able to come stab them while they smash face first into Harry's force wards would be nice.

The IC justification would be that Harry is a wizard and this is where he keeps all of his magic stuff, plus his cat and his roommate, who just happens to be a Foo Dog. Harry being away this time isn't quite like most previous absences, in that his being gone was deliberately engineered by someone willing to break an extremely serious taboo in the supernatural community in order to involve the mortal authorities. They might have just wanted him off the board for a few days, but they could just as easily want to raid his lab.

Molly doesn't have any reason to suspect Bob is in the basement or that the secrets of magic are hidden in Harry's cupboards, but that doesn't mean there isn't something work protecting. After all, whoever it was that framed Harry must know that if he really wants to escape he could be out of confinement in moments. If they intend to break into his apartment, the best time to do so is tonight, before Harry loses patience and escapes or one of his contacts arranges for him to be freed.

Mouse is a good boy, and he's got magical dog powers, but he can only do so much. Molly also doesn't actually know the extent of Harry's wards.

Im just going to point out that this downplays what Mouse is. Wolves wish they were in the same area code as Mouse.
In Proven Guilty just a couple weeks ago, Mouse got hit by a car, walked it off, beat the everloving fuck out of a jann, then for an encore triple teamed the Scarecrow fetch with Dresden and Thomas before they scarpered.

By Word of Jim, the dog species Mouse most resembles is the Caucasian mountain dog or Ovcharka
Its a guard dog bred to hunt bears.
Mouse is HUGE.

Buy my girl Luna probably wouldn't like having another dog around the house, never mind one big enough to sit on her by accident.

By that same token, she doesn't know there's anything seriously dangerous that absolutely needs guaranteed protection. There are also multiple equally reasonable theories as to why this was set up.

This is also probably the worst time to break in, since the police have almost certainly at least got one person on it since it's highly likely to have evidence in it. They don't have a warrant yet, but they're probably looking to get one as quickly as they can.

This whole thing is at least two baseless guesses duct taped together with meta gaming.

1)
a)Molly knows his wards are serious enough to prevent him getting assassinated when the Red Court last sent a hit team led by Ortega to town; she was aware of it because she met him moping at their house at the time
b)She knows his wards are serious enough to save him when last Nicodemus was in town and killed Shiro.
c)She also knows that Dresden occasionally goes out of town for several days and never gets robbed in the interim.
d)She has actually seen him in magic combat, soulgazed him, and met the Fallen shadow in his head. Enough to judge how much mojo he can set up

These arent new facts to her. She used to eavesdrop on her parents about Dresden's business.
And I'm pretty sure that Occult 5, -2DC to Awareness rolls means that she has some sense of how much magical defense is in and around Dresden's house, even if she cant see it properly.

2) If someone wanted to raid his lab, and thought they could break or sneak by his wards? They'd just hire him for an out of town job.
Have someone call him to Oklahoma or WI for two days and offer a five thousand dollar retainer for three days work. I mean, this is literally how the Bigfoot stories begin; client calls him to a meet 6-12 hours away from Chicago, or sends him to like, Nebraska.

They wouldnt murder someone for a burglary. Makes no sense.
Molly would have a good idea that murdering a police officer and setting up this elaborate a frame is too much effort to arrange a burglary.
I wish I had a Dogasaurus... 🐕

Imagine what your dogfood bill would be like. :V

I cant imagine how Dresden manages to fit a dog that size in a classic VW Beetle.
Dresden needs a new car.
At this point its just a kindness to Mouse.

[X] Continue with the plan, this is more important than your mother throwing a hissy fit

At some point Charity and Molly will need to come to some sort of understanding over the fact that Molly is now a Big Deal in supernatural circles. And more then that, she has chosen to accept that part of heraelf. This seems like an in-character crisis point for this to happen over. Because Molly is defying her mother to protect someone else. Where when it was only Molly's own desires she acquiesced.

They will, probably around the time Molly actually is one. She's been exalted for like a week, she stabs good, but that doesn't make her a high roller.

More to the point, this isn't a useful place to have this discussion because Charity can rightly point out that this is unnecessary. This isn't really protecting anything in a way that Molly can actually articulate, it's protecting property that she can only speculate is actually valuable that she has good reason to believe is already safe.

Charity can rightfully say this is juvenile teenage contrarianism, which detracts form having a meaningful conversation about Molly's life choices.

Literally this.
We are not achieving anything here. And picking fights for the sake of picking fights might be a very teenage thing to do, but its actively counterproductive to any of our short or mediumterm goals.

I mean, now what? We blow up at Charity, she attempts to ground us, we move out? Again?
Who wants to juggle moving out of our home again while trying to help clear Dresden of a felony murder accusation?
Losing easy access to our siblings and making them unhappy?

Actions have consequences.
People need to think these things through before they vote on impulse.
