Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

[X] Call Marcone to pick up his money, you'll deal with him when he gets here

So, what will we do with these actual Nazi-werewolves?
We could propably let Macrone deal with them, or call a Warden, but either way we would sentence them to death, only without getting our own hands bloody.

What does dad usually do with people he defeats but doesn't kill in combat on his job?

The thing I'm nervous is about is that while Marconi can be fair and reasonable, he is also aware of how he has to appear to his subordinates to remain the boss. He can't appear subservient to people. That's why I'm nervous about whether having him come to us might seem like a presumptuous demand, and Molly has probably watched enough stuff about crime bosses to get that, even if her nature occasionally compels her to act similarly dominant.
The easiest solution to any sort of misunderstanding like this is to have Jerry call his boss and ask him how he wishes to proceed.

[x] [X] Circumstances have changed since the deal was struck and there is a new player on the board, or perhaps an old one rearing its ugly head. Either way, their actions were overt and bloody, and that is certain to draw attention no one involved in this exchange wishes to receive. Rather than deciding how to proceed in this matter and potentially complicating things even further, we should contact Marcone and learn how exactly he wishes to proceed.
-[X] Give Marcone the option of sending his goons with the money, him meeting us somewhere safe from prying eyes to make the exchange, or doing as the monk suggested and wiring him the funds.

As seen with Casius he lets them go, the knights are not the police and they do not have a jail. Also while they might kill in battle and in defense of an innocent they will not be executioners.

[X] Send Jerry off with the cash, if he gets jumped that is on him

It is not our responsibility to make sure Marcone gets his money. Michael was called to provide security for the hand off:
This time I was asked to provide some security on the hand off of sacred things from an organization here in Chicago and monks of the Shey Gompa Monastery in Nepal
well this is the hand off. What happens afterwards is, as the vote says, on Jerry. Honestly the monk was being kind by offering to wire the money after this but if the man Marcone trusted to execute this deal is insisting on cash and can't protect it? Well that is Marcone's problem. Once the money is handed over and good received the deal is done.

The only exception to the above is a Denarian who will not relinquish their coin, they are considered to always be threatening innocents by the very nature of what they are and what they are allowing to act in the world. So a knight will ask, even plead with the mortal to give up their coin, but if they will not set aside their coin it is always within the remit of a knight to kill a Denarian rather than let them back onto the world to wreak more havoc.

This particular fact is as you can imagine quite troubling to the knights especially in light of the fact that some of the Order are little more than puppets for the Fallen and thus cannot (for all practical purposes) relinquish their coin. If only there was some way to force them out... ;)

Knowing him and his own sense of honor, there is a non-zero chance he'll wave his fee entirely due to a perceived failure to secure his territory and informatio network.
I kind of doubt that. He might do something extra for them, but if he gave up money for likely dangerous and expensive jobs like stealing from sorcerous cults who may have even gone full warlock then he wouldn't have made it this far.

We might be able to swing getting more information on these guys from him though. If there's anyone who deserves a pissed off infernal exalt interrupt it's nazi sorcerers, and if we're lucky there could even be some loot in it for us eventually.

Between that and killing red vampires we might even overcome the roaring nuclear hate fire circumstance malus to our first impression on the supernatural community in Chicago. :V

If there is a connection to the Exalted I would imagine it was actually to the Dragon-Blooded. There are only 700 Celestials; 300 Solars, 300 Lunars, and 100 Sidereals originally before 50 Solars corrupted into Infernals and 100 Solars corrupted into Abyssals.

The Dragon-Blooded meanwhile were called "The Ten Thousand Princes of Earth" which lines up rather neatly.

From the descriptions we have of the Wan Xian, they sound like Heaven invented a new model of things that resembled the earlier Exalted, but had differences as well, such that they don't seem to be any of the existing types, but could be a version created later, or something similar but different.

What we're told about the Wan Xian:

  • They originally took the Second Breath after passing a set of tests/examinations of moral virtue and ability.
  • They were powered by the chi of the world, not an internal source
  • After growing increasingly corrupt the Wan Xian subverted those tests to remove the moral elements
  • There was a fixed number of them. They were unaging but when one was killed or grew so enlightened they ascended to Heaven, a new mortal who passed the tests would join their numbers
  • At least the final stage of their testing grounds were in the spirit world, and when the Wan Xian were cursed to become the Wan Kuei it fell into and was integrated into the Thousand Hells, with the test for taking the Second Breath now being successfully escaping them. This was quite possibly only possible because of the Wan Xian's previous interference.
  • Before they fell the ascension of each new Wan Xian was apparently powered by the Scarlet Empress and Ebon Dragon. It seems possible it's now powered by the Hells themselves, as the last of the original empowerment was used up just before the testing grounds fell into them.

Assuming Marcone is fully in the loop. If Jerry is being a dipshit Marcone won't know jack shit until he either gets his cash or gets a call about a pile of corpses... and things can get muddled. We may be morally in the clear but I'd rather this go smooth for all parties, everyone goes home with what they want.

I sure as hell don't want to be explaining this shit to Marcone tomorrow. Let the dude have a decent day. He'd rather spend sixty seconds on the phone than deal with a headache in an hour... and maybe he'll want a better debriefing than he would get from a dipshit Jerry.

Whatever the big man says, he's the fucking boss until we get changed out of our bloodstained Sunday Best. Though he should probably have had the foresight to have had the money wired through a legitimate front just as a matter of course. It would have been an easy thing to confirm.

[X] Circumstances have changed since the deal was struck and there is a new player on the board, or perhaps an old one rearing its ugly head. Either way, their actions were overt and bloody, and that is certain to draw attention no one involved in this exchange wishes to garner. Rather than deciding how to proceed in this matter and potentially complicating things even further, we should contact Marcone and learn how exactly he wishes to receive his payment.
-[X] Give Marcone the option of sending his goons with the money, him meeting us somewhere safe from prying eyes to make the exchange, or doing as the monk suggested and wiring him the funds.

I'm remembering how we were told by DP that our future crafting might be dependent on using the remains of supernatural creatures.

Dead Tibetan lamas might count, so the worst option is that we might have another Exalt running around gathering ingredients.

That was 70 years ago though.

A Nazi-Exalted with that kind of experience would certainly make waves.
We do, and we are practically newborn.

More likely that regular mages are also interested in magical remains.

And then it turns out Kemmler was an Abyssal Exalt trying to arrange the world wars as fuel to break the boundary from Essence 5 to 6…

And the half dozen previous times he was killed it was actually his unscrubbed Exaltation taking over its next host (there was an artefact that let you do that as I recall…)
