Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Three words: Hollow Mind Possession.
Allows her to make any computerized device in line of sight her bitch for anything from one day to permanently.
Like bank ATMs.
Your thinking to small use Hollow Mind Possession on the computers that handle to stock markets orders. The computers know the actual direction of the market from the orders placed on it. If their are more buyers it goes up, if more sellers it goes down. Just have them show Molly the order flow. Start up a small organization of mortals, to play the market. and just give them the directions the market is heading towards every day, even if some of them lose money overall its big money town.

You want to get the world's financial architecture possessed by demons... Come to think of it I don't think most people would notice the difference. :V

OOC because I made these people up for the quest, they are little more than names in canon and there are six of them. I do not think there is way in which I could work in another six intimacies without feeling forced, IC because she loves them but they do not define aspects of her character and her relationship to the world the way hero worship of her father, rebellion against her mother or Harry as the gateway to magic do
Fair enough.
If they arent narratively important, then there is no point doing the extra work.

That said, if you needed to, you just treat them as a group intimacy instead of individual people eg Carpenter Family Jawas(Loving Exasperation).

Letter of the charm says we need line of sight to the computers/objects involved.
And Im not sure that TV broadcasts count.
So we'd need to get into the NYSE. Or the Chicago Exchange.

Too much work compared to the alternatives when its not a primary focus for her.
Yet.

I mean we just get a bureaucracy charm or two and just have a proxy company or 2. We could hit Shadowrun/cyberpunk levels of power and influence in a couple of years. But that amounts to just pushing an I win button boring.

Just keep in mind there are other supernaturals out there and they can notice the demons, like with the lottery the bigger you go the more likely you are to be noticed though the attention would likely be different.

Other supernaturals are also doing stuff like this.

White Court is big, Odin owns Monoc Sec. etc.

We'd definitely have competition and if not, I expect some upset supernatural to dunk our offices or something if they want to hit us.

That is fair but I do not want to lump say Daniel who is one year younger then her with jawas, her feelings are not identical for the whole spectrum of her siblings. I think that sort of generalization would make them less likely to get developed at all over the span of the quest.

I've got to say, all this talk about the stock market makes me morbidly curious as to what endless torment emanation would do to it.

We really really shouldn't do that, but I still wonder what the pileup would look like.

+2 difficultly on everything related to stock trading through a particular exchange would basically be a economic heart attack for the world if we picked the right one wouldn't it?

The second half of the effect would probably be wasted though; I'm pretty sure stock exchanges already count as areas of spiritual desolation. :V

Edit:

Really this is just another way Infernals are superior to Denarians.

Imagine having to concoct elaborate rituals or homebrew plagues to end the world instead of taking a vacation around the world and cursing one major stock exchange/major financial institution/treasury department a day until the world ends itself.

The hardest part would be paying for plane tickets in cigarettes for the last few stops.

Hmm on one level I do not want to make this too easy since flaws help define your relationship to the world and in the system they are supposed to be permanent. On the other hand you are an Exalt with the power to make flaws and derangement go poof, just not your own. The theme of overcoming the impossible does kind of get dented if you cannot warm up. It was a 2 point flaw so I'll say 5 XP should be enough to toggle it to the level where you are cold, but not a block of ice and 10 XP to train yourself out of it

You can also win at the horse races guaranteed once with the crown. Again as far as your power is concerned one race is the same as the other because they are really mundane. I mean you are not even wagering for souls on the prowess of fire breathing Wyld-beasts :V
Can we win the euro-millions lottery? Or whatever the American version is I suppose.

Edit: never mind - just saw the earlier discussion. This is why you don't rejoin a thread halfway after the update folks!

Crown of Worlds and ride the Dragon Lines, it has the advantage that you literally taint the earth where you depart and you appear in places of spiritual desolation... so like even odds you do not even need to take a cab. :V

One of the reason Exalted Bureaucracy charms seem so powerful is few setting have anything comparable. Like the Inauspicious benediction of endeavor, grants automatic successes based upon how hard a taboo they must fallow is. 2 to an entire organization every activity at a minimum if they follow a tenet. Like say they practice ethical business, ha that would probably grant the full 4 automatic successes. That is on top of what they would roll naturally. That moves even a weak organization into top of the world generally.

So just out of curiosity, would teleporting around the world to curse the global financial sector basically turn this quest into a stealth Mad Max crossover, or am I overestimating the actual impact of that difficulty increase?

Well, wizard techbane wouldn't be much of a concern anymore once civilization collapses.

Of course, that would probably just prompt the effect to shift like it has in the past. It would probably cause clean water to evaporate more quickly in the presence of wizards.

This could be our bond villian plan for if Molly ever goes crazy.

1) Curse every organization we can find that moves more than $20 around on a daily basis
2) Wait for civilization to collapse
3)Profit Brain drain reality into the fully functioning advanced civilization in our soul-world.

Can't have money problems if you're everyone's new landlord.

Everyone can see the order book. If you are seeing the order book before everyone else in a way that they can't, but the exchange could, that's called "front running" and is a form of securities fraud.

If possessing all the worlds stock exchanges is a bit too much, too attention grabbing… we could instead hit the major banks servers and big tax havens around the world. That'd give us a good picture without sitting on the crossroads itself.

It's like, 06 right? We could just wait until the 08 financial crisis and run affected banks into the ground. It's a decent cover when things are already getting fucked up.

Do some truly epic insider trading and shit, I dunno.

Damn, we gain epic godlike power and immediately we try how to make the market our piggy bank.

I figure securities fraud is probably pretty soft core as far as infernal plans go. It's probably not even in the top fifty things Uriel is worried we'll try.

I'd like to see the FTC bring a case against us for illegal use of demonic possession to manipulate the markets too, that court filing would be a drug trip of a read.

Calling it now, somehow that's our fault.

If we're repeatedly engaging in suspicious trades, especially in an aggressive way, that is going to get flagged for investigation. And even if the SEC can't actually pin us with hacking into a computer via demonic possession, just the existence of an investigation is going to draw attention to us that we don't want.

On the lottery thing...I assume we'd leave it until we have an actual project that needs that much money, rather than acquiring the money on general principles.

If we have a project that big, we'd be getting Scrutiny anyway

I know why we're going to need the money first: buy and fortify a location with a Dragon's Nest. We need to do this first of all because without it we don't have a much-needed source of Essence and an increase in its regeneration, a place to keep our creations, future objects of power, a place for our future less human minions to stay, to imprison future prisoners, etc. Plus, of course, having a place where we can do things our mother would certainly disapprove of without putting our normal siblings in harm's way.

It's not really urgent as we're still in the phase of putting our feet up again, where only when we're done can we start the power expansion phase.

But I still say we should start bribing, not even just a little Wild Fae, to be our servant/attendant. What kind of Demon Empress doesn't have an attendant? (If Mab, Queen of Air and Darkness, can have a Leanshide, why can't we have a very, very thin version for now?) (He must also be reasonably good-looking, to meet of the Eye Candy requirement) .
