Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Ok, so this looks pretty solid, but I'm going to give this until morning because this is a really big decision one way or another. One other thing you guys might also want to consider since it seems to be go home vs Harry's master meeting is what do you tell Molly's siblings once you get home. I mean you could leave it all up to Charity but

A) She really does not like magic and so would be uncomfortable talking about it in detail
and
B) You need to think about how to deal with the fact that the fetches attacked the Carpenter home in part because of Molly

What about option C) Crash on Harry's couch?

I don't really get what this means. What is there to deal with? We were attacked and...?

I am sure the Knights have tons of enemies who'd love to do so, this one just succeeded.

I mean sure, but these ones are not that, they were a direct consequence of Molly using fear magic and Harry trying to be clever and sending them after the mage who 'summoned' them. You could just choose not to say anything of course, but that would basically be lying by omission.

I still...don't see how that's important. If one of the Carpenter children were attacked by a random vampire on the streets, would it make a difference if its due to random vampire habits or the dangers of being the family of a Knight?

I don't really care what we say because I don't see it as an important distinction. They already have nearly the worst enemies as Denarians by circumstance of their births..

If you think its lying by omission uhh sure? I am up for it.

Edit: We can also juat say it as it is. I am also fine with that.

We fucked up pretty massively and put ourselves and everyone we cared about in danger?

One of the spells we need right away, in addition to the one that takes away the need for tools, is this one:

Chirality Prohibition Index (•••)
The Infernal may lead a group of mortals or bakemono in a regimen of training, worship, and indoctrination, quickly forming them into a shape of her desiring and creating the nucleus of a cult.

System: During each day of training a group of mortals or bakemono, spend 1 Essence per acolyte. At the end of seven days of training, all students gain 30 experience points to spend raising their Physical Attributes, Manipulation, and Alertness, Brawl, Intimidation, Larceny, Melee, or Occult Abilities. No Ability can be raised higher than that of their Infernal instructor. This Charm can be used on the same acolytes repeatedly, but bestows only 20 experience points on subsequent training regimens. Any unspent experience is lost.

Completing a training regimen under this Charm makes the acolytes into creatures of darkness, if they were not already. Additionally, each course of training alters an acolyte's personality in the following fashion:

• After one course of training, he will grow to violently despise one concept specified by the Infernal.

• After two courses of training, he will only speak a selection of languages approved by the Infernal, and will learn the primary language among this approved list if he does not already speak it.

• After three courses of training, he will only wear a specific uniform or style of clothing endorsed by the Infernal.

• After four courses of training, he will shun and scrupulously avoid certain actions or modes of thought proscribed by the Infernal.

• After five courses of training, he will adopt one obligation he must regularly discharge, as defined by the Infernal.

After all, we need to train the servants for their functions.

Probably won't be able to do that anytime soon.

Firstly because getting a cadre of servants is difficult with a 17 year old's resources.

Secondly because it involves a clear mind control element.

Sure it's different from mortal magic in a few key ways that technically stop it from being their jurisdiction, but they wouldn't stop to inspect technicalities when they see that sort of magic in most cases.

They have a bit of a thing about free will, and even when it's not their exact job description they tend to mess with anything preying on mortals if they think they can get away with it. So the technicalities probably wouldn't matter much anyway.

They're not going to suicide charge the winter court or something, but they have no reason to think we're worth giving that level of consideration.

We're probably going to need to be on our best behavior in regards to this sort of stuff for a while.

Out of curiosity, is there a good Exalt-based solution to healing that comatose girl John Marcone has been taking care of for the past couple decades?

That would, at minimum, earn us a huge amount of favor with Marcone.

Verdant empress endowment.

False spring beckons maybe. What's wrong with her?
Depends on what is wrong with her.
When Marcone was still small time he was part of a mob hit that went down in a public park. She got hit by some stray rounds and ended up in a coma.

He still covers her medical bills, and spent a long time looking for ways to undo his mistake.

She's part of the reason Marcone became so strict about the behavior of organized crime in the city after he got influential enough to basically take most of it over.

He can be a very good friend to have, but if we jerk him around on this we'd live to regret it.

Huh.

Verdant empress endowment absolutely then.

False spring beckons probably not.

Remake her into a Bakemono.

Get good at medicine enough to fix her the normal way.

Craft a magical healing artifact or potion for whatever is wrong with her specifically. (Gee why did I want craft charm so bad?)

@Valkhir False spring beckons works on normal people just fine though?

He's also a signatory member of the Unseelie Accords, which could come in handy for us, depending on how things play out.

At least, I think so. The order of events in the books is kinda all mashed up in my head.

She's been in a coma for a long while now.

Marcone went so far as to "borrow" the Shroud of Turin on the off chance that it might be able to heal her.

Vaguely surprised that didnt work. Wonder if shes resistant to magic somehow.

Personally I'm leaning towards making her a Bakemono.

If were improving her might as well go full course.

And I think theres even a charm thing for making super cyborgs?

He becomes a freeholding Lord in the book after the one we're wrapping up IIRC

Would be better to just restore her to health rather than try to upgrade or minionify her. She was a young child when she was originally injured but is well into adulthood now, with most of her life spent in a coma. It would be good enough just to wake her up, but if we could also restore the lost years, Marcone would owe us big.

The Shroud didn't work because it doesn't really have innate magical powers, not in that way. In the DF setting, however, it does serve as an immensely powerful focal object for the Faith of a significant chunk of humanity, so that gives it a lot of juice in certain circumstances.
