Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

For Shintai, we're going Devil-Tyrant version with max Dex, to confirm?

Since we already have a sword as a demon form thing and Devil Tyrant is the one that keeps most of our mortal form with extra lightshow and bits added on, so it would fit most.
Hmm, I am of the mind to go with Demon Emperor for that sweet, sweet equal allocation of Str 3, Dex 2 and Sta 3. Since Appearance doesn't mean squat in WoD and Exalted (besides bonus to MDV, which we don't have here), methinks we should go with the big stompy montser.

Also, the title Demon Emperor is just too cool.

It'd be pretty amazing to turn into a titanic monster or force nature though. The number of things that actually do that in DF is surprising small.
The one definitely don't want is the one that has no hands because we use a sword.

Otherwise its a bit more free, but I just stated my preference.

Edit: And for By Rage Recast its Transcendent Anathema? I can go for it.

Yeah those are cool and we've basically chosen a lot of things that don't really show off what kind of power an infernal exaltation is so I think that'd be really cool, like yeah we're mostly human but if we really get serious we get to show off the very not-human nature of the exaltation

The way I play it appearance is the soft social stat, it is charisma for the people you do not talk to, or at least do not talk to often, but which can still see you or your image.

[X] "I'm not going to say no, because you are the professional here, but this is apparently some serious business here, like 'Looking directly into the sun to count its spots' level business if what I've guessed is right, are you even going to be okaydoing that? Is there anything that can be done to mitigate the risk at all?"
--[X] "Actually, that's a good question, let me see if I can shake some answers loose here". Invoke Crown of Eyes to determine if there's anything that can be done to limit the risk of Soulgazing you

I just want to sweet, sweet Dexterity for sword-fighting several millenia old beings who have honed combat for so long and just winning hard and in just general swording people good.

Yup, Transcendent Anathema so that our every attacks deal Aggravated Damage.
What are the shintai descriptions like
From page 207 of the Pdf:
Incarnate Apotheosis Shintai
The Infernal dissipates into a natural disaster or
inchoate menace, such as a living sandstorm,
inferno, pool of living acid studded with eyes,
amorphous shadow, or swarm of demonic lo-
custs. This form operates according to the swarm
rules found on page 391 of V20, save that it does
soak damage. The swarm inflicts damage equal
to the Infernal's Strength, and uses the Infernal's
normal Initiative rating. It still remains capable
of taking normal actions by focusing its sub-
stance to push buttons, turn latches, and carry
things around on swarms of buzzing locusts.
Select one of the following trait arrays:
Strength +2, Dexterity +0, Stamina +1, Appearance 0
Strength +0, Dexterity +3, Stamina +0, Appearance 0
Strength +1, Dexterity +1, Stamina +1, Appearance 0
Aspects: Gain flexible and choose five addition-
al Aspects.
Demon Emperor Shintai
The character assumes a towering, monstrous
form such as a fifteen-foot-tall colossus of living
stone and flame, a whirling constellation of man-
sized crystalline spheres crackling with lightning,
or a massive suit of ancient armor inhabited only
by the burning light of the Infernal's anima. This
form adds two dice to all soak rolls, and reduces
the difficulty of soak rolls by one.
Select one of the following trait arrays:
Strength +6, Dexterity –1, Stamina +5, Appearance 0
Strength +3, Dexterity +2, Stamina +3, Appearance 0
Strength +4, Dexterity +0, Stamina +5, Appearance 0
Aspects: Select one: boneshaker, demon armor,
or hardiness. Then select three more Aspects.
Devil-Tyrant Avatar Shintai
The character assumes a modified version of
her own human form, studded with inhuman
features and surging with demonic power, but
still fundamentally recognizable as the Infer-
nal. She may wear an ever-burning crown of
flames upon her brow and grow wicked blades
from her forearms, or sprout a lashing tail and
venom-dripping wings, or extend all of her
limbs into barbed and segmented nightmares,
but her face remains her own and her general
shape is still humanoid.
Select one of the following trait arrays:
Strength +2, Dexterity +2, Stamina +2
Strength +3, Dexterity +1, Stamina +2
Strength +1, Dexterity +4, Stamina +1
Aspects: Select seven Aspects.
Devil-Beast Shintai
The character assumes an inhuman, bestial form
such as that of an eyeless dragon, enormous wolf
with fur made of jagged glass, or gargantuan
serpent whose hood burns with sanity-rending
glyphs. This form is always capable of inflicting
lethal damage with unarmed attacks, but suf-
fers a –3 penalty to all attempts to perform fine
manipulation due to its lack of proper human
hands. It doubles its movement speed, and may
reflexively run at its full sprinting speed each
turn without using an action to do so.
Select one of the following trait arrays:
Strength +4, Dexterity +1, Stamina +3, Appearance 0
Strength +3, Dexterity +2, Stamina +3, Appearance 0
Strength +3, Dexterity +0, Stamina +5, Appearance 0
Aspects: Select two: body spikes, demon armor, or
demon weapons. Then select three more Aspects.

That's okay, Shintais are usually used for cpmbat purposes, meaning that we seldom need that for fighting.

In the case of a Shintai a higher appearance would make it less pants-shittingly-terrifying and more object of worship. After all if you make a devil pleasing enough in form and righteous enough in deed who is to say it is not a god?

If we're going for Demon Emperor instead of Sword good Devil Tyrant, we should get Viridian Legend Exoskeleton and Invulnerable Skin of Bronze to just stack soak.

Ideally I'm hoping we don't commit to a full meathead build for the sake of one char gen choice.

It's really against the grain of the character in a lot of ways, and feels like a direction taken for the sake of optimizing the mechanical side of things than actually fitting who we're playing.

You did choose both the urge and the crown of magic nerd and you have max occult. Full warrior is no longer an option.

It is also the most human seeming, so I don't see it as not fitting. Its just a serendipitous coincidence.

Who's to say something pants-shittingly-terrifying can't be an object of godly worship for example biblical angels

Omg I just had the best idea for an exalted character, Shiba Inu who gets exalted and his goal, be the best boi and get head pats and tummy rubs and kinda just goes round helping people or something idk ☺️

Canonically, an Exaltation needs a human soul. A Shiba Inu beastman would be fine. However, an actual, no-kidding Shiba Inu would be too far.

Well, unless you count the option from the 2nd Edition Lunar book in which Lunar Exaltations can switch over to animal hosts if they run out of human options. For that matter, Lunars can really get into cosplaying their animal forms because Lunars are gonna Lunar.

Yeah but for the sake of an interesting and fun game the storyteller would probably allow for it especially since it's most likely that you're playing with friends. So lorewise you're right otoh creative freedom + friendship

It can of course, but it is an impediment. There is a reason Angels have been so often re-imagined into more human form
Most of them were depicted in human form because that's how they showed up and talked to people.

Like, in pretty much every instance where they have to do actual human interaction in the Bible they're equipped for it.

Entertaining an angel unaware is sort of one of the archetypal things they're actually said to do with people.

The eyeball wheels did bring attention to the more arcane interpretations of celestial glory, but it's swung way too far in the other direction, it feels like. Most of the time they were just dudes, however much they were filled with glorious purpose. Being dude-shaped is kind of a plot point.

Sadly need a human soul. But does not mean you can't be creative about it. The amount of cat puns I got to belt out in ten minutes for the moment my table interacted with that solar. Was the best moment in my entire tabletop career.

What are the shintai descriptions like
Pulling from 3e Infernal homebrew cause I can't be fucking arsed to find my PDF's

SOUL-SAND DEVIL SHINTAI
Cost: —; Mins: Essence 3; Type: Permanent
Keywords: None
Duration: Permanent
Prerequisite Charms: Soul-Sieve Transmutation
Flesh cannot properly express those who would go amongst the reaches of forever as Cecelyne. The Infernal's body permanently assumes a natural dematerialized state like a demon, the manifest image of which appears upon close inspection to be constructed from billions of jagged particles. He no longer needs to breathe air, but suffocates normally if taken into a place where there is no living Essence to respire (such as the Underworld) unless he has Cult 3+ or Essence 5+. He longer requires food regardless of whether he is in a place of desolation, but he still hungers and gains penalties as described in Transcendent Desert Creature unless he has Cult 3+ to provide a steady diet of nourishing prayers. He may manifest or conceal his presence to communicate as a translucent apparition, toggling between the two states for a reflexive cost of one mote. The Infernal automatically becomes visible at no cost if their anima banner flares to the Glowing level or above.

Finally, the Infernal gains the Charm Materialize for free as a benefit of purchasing this Charm (see Exalted, pp. 510), allowing her to spend half of her motes to build a convincing simulacrum of what he used to look like. Whenever a character with this Charm materializes, his body assembles itself out of fine grit that blows in a tightening vortex. Bones appear first, wreathed in webs of visceral cording and pulsating meat until the final layer of ephemeral flesh encloses them in its borders. Exalted do not become spirits by purchasing this Charm; they merely alter their default state of corporeality.

SKULKING SHADOW SHINTAI
Cost: 10m, 1wp; Mins: Essence 3; Type: Simple
Keywords: Scorpion, Form, Mute
Duration: One scene
Prerequisite Charms: Living Shadow Dissolution
In the dark places of the catacombs of Malfeas lurks the Ultimate Darkness, hidden away from the prideful gaze of Ligier. Those who think that they need only watch for the Ebon Dragon do not think to see what might be hidden right behind them. Upon activating this Charm, the Infernal and her possessions become a shadow of what they once were, flesh and matter shedding the temporary falsehood of solidity. She is rendered a featureless, tar-like mass of faintly translucent darkness; amorphous and somehow not quite of this world.

  • Within his uttermost darkness, the Dragon is safe. Only harmful effects enhanced or created by Essence, or which are sources of light, have enough metaphysical potency to affect her, inflicting wounds in the form of disintegrated oozing sections of living shadow. Mundane weapons pass harmlessly through the shadows of the Infernal's form, mundane acid may not burn her, mundane poison or disease have no effect, she does not suffer from lack of food or water or air and so on. This immunity lapses until the beginning of the Infernal's next turn after she makes an attack. Her own anima does not count as light for the purposes of this Charm.
  • This tenebral form is spun of Essence, and not subject to the limitations of solid form. She has no weight, and may activate Living Shadow Dissolution for a reduced cost of two motes. She may dodge freely without regard for having physical room to do so, may not physically grapple or be grappled, and may not be subjected to attempts to blockade her movement, except by sources of light.
  • She is mutable, and may lie flat against the ground to crawl in someone's shadow or stretch to cover a ceiling. She may still act normally despite this ephemeral form, as in the exact instant that the Infernal chooses to act, her shadow body takes on rough humanoid semblance to perform that action and exerts force as though solid.
  • The shadow is left by all things and none. The Infernal's identity is impossible to determine by mundane means. Should this effect be contested by other magic, the Infernal receives (Essence) bonus successes to contest it. In addition, she may always attempt to enter Stealth, regardless of any cover or lack thereof. If she is killed while in the form of the Skulking Shadow, she melts away in even the least light, leaving no corpse.
  • The mind rebels to see a shadow without a light. While the Infernal is under the effects of this Charm, she will not be noticed unless she takes overt action or the character attempting to notice her has a Major or Defining Intimacy which would be threatened by the Infernal's presence. This effect fails if fully illuminated, though stunting can allow the character to find dark places - such as the shadow of a target, or under the bed - and she may still attempt normal stealth.
  • The Skulking Shadow is a thing of the dark places of the world, and cannot bear to be illuminated; indeed, the world rejects it. The Infernal suffers a -2 internal penalty to all actions when fully illuminated, the painful light wracking her tenebral flesh. She is compelled to avoid direct illumination and retreat away from it, though this compulsion can be ignored for a scene by spending two willpower.
Here are the two I actually got to use in play. Shame you can't do the full effect in Exalted vs WoD, these are the 'full power' versions.
