Digging for Nations in the Desert (No SV, You are a Micronation in the End of the World)

1. How much Control do we gain for successes?
You are not allowed to know, but most of the time, its double the cost you give, barring special actions.
2. Is the Control gained for successes added at the same time as the d6 Control lost from failures? (Like, if the d6s happened first they could 0 us out "mid turn", which would be a major concern to plan around)
No. Failures lose double the amount of control spent.

So 1=2. 3=6 Etc.

Most of the time however, but there are exceptions.

Good to know! Please update the OP to reflect this, it currently says:
For every Failure, you will not only lose the control you spent on the action but an additional d6 of your control in the bank.
So to be clear the "most of the time" is that most of the time we will not game over to mid-turn weirdness?

Might even help the rebels if they decide to pay us more.
I mean, that just depends on your business sense.

do you value peace, ideal, and possibly crazy, possibly genocidal intent?

Or do you value Cold Hard, Cash!

I mean, either way, you may be facilitating genocide.

-[]The True Republic: Batswana wishes to meet with you, to see if you can be seen as a valuable and willing trade partner.
Missing control and I think the name is wrong

Why Should we trust the Derg?

All I want is Hellie Selassie to maintain his nation.

What have the Derg ever done for Ethiopia except cause a Famine and make it fall to Soviet Impiralism!

Checkmate Communist!

Welp we were gonna do something Lawful Evil anyway might as well choose the LEAST evil side.

FOR THE EMPEROR AND ETHEOPIA!

I mean be honest with yourselves.

Your mercenaries, that will fight for cash.

You think that you will always back, Moral and good causes.

No. Fuck no.

If you were, this quest wouldn't be realistic at all.

You will be helping some evil people.

Anything other than an evacuation mission for the royal family to a neutral country after they lose the coup would end up with facilitating genocide.

Like I said: You are not going to be the good guys.

You are just the mercenaries hired to do things that will get you paid.

Depends on how much we get paid and the opportunity cost of good publicity.
If it pays enough to get involved okay. If they're not paying enough we might just sit it out and offer to do a rescue for the royal family when the empire falls.

And honestly, sometimes there may be no good side to back in the first place, just varying shades of grey...
It's real life, many times, whom the hero or villain is depends on perspective.
Knowing what we might do, we might be the biggest monster, or the greatest Hero to ever exist.

Nations that Recognize you as a Free and Independent nation: Costa Rica, Japan, Austria.
That feels good.

[X] Li Mei - (RP)
-[X] Create Soldier of Fortune, a monthly newsletter posting reviews of various mercenary outfits, private military corporations, security firms, and generally guns for hire. It rates them based on their equipment, training, reliability, international and general reputation, suitability for various jobs that they have a history of being contracted to do, and moral integrity as according to Li Mei, her wife, and various friends she is able to get to comment on such things. Also a phone line by which various certified employers can submit their own reviews.
-[X] More attempts to drum up a positive reputation for the country while doing mercenary work (but this time in Rhodesia!)
-[X] Get to know Vasily. He's our right hand man, and as much as I'm glad we aren't dueling to the death I would eventually like to be several notches above that point.

There is a lot of Military stuff in here, largely because our current greatest strength is a mercenary army and it's our highest roll bonus. I resent spending 10 Control hunting the Tsarina, but letting her run free seems even more dangerous.

Economic covers housing and food, and a bunch of small things which seems like a good way to get the most out of our resources (both in terms of getting stuff set up sooner and in terms of normalizing our crit potential by just rolling way more dice). The river connection option is also a nice way to try to get some irrigation for our crops so we can push off trying to tap our underground reserves until next turn.

Science is peak bonus, albeit with a bit heftier an up-front cost and probably less immediate payoff, which is why I'm only doing one right now. Hopefully as we start getting infrastructure handled we will be free to put more in this direction.

A bunch of Politics rolls largely because a lot of this stuff seems like it will expire on us if we don't look into it eventually and we can afford the 4 to do so.

No Social, as usual. I don't think it's worth it unless we can fix our penalty or we get real desperate.

Total cost: 50
