Digging for Nations in the Desert (No SV, You are a Micronation in the End of the World)

>We are a nation of killers, of soldiers, of outcasts and rebels, and of those who just don't belong
>But we are not a nation devoid of morals or of principles
>The world from which we come, the world in which we belong, and the world in which we find meaning is not a peaceful place.
>It is cruel and violent, and it is no place in which others should live. We will never leave that world, that's just not an option for people like us.
>But I would like to think that those who come here are more than happy to try another way for a little while
>So here is a place to rest for a while, for those who need to escape for a little bit, for those who need help, or friends, or maybe kind word, or a strong drink
>So if you've got the guts, or if you've got the cash, and either the moral high ground or a really really convincing sob story
>Then hey, pull up a seat. We might be able to help each other out.

I like this a lot! I think it's worth being more explicit about the fact that we'll welcome anyone who's after a stable place (as backed by our mercenary might) to build a life, and not just mercs looking for somewhere to operate out of. That aside, very well written.

I don't quite get the line on Che? He wasn't homophobic, he was prior to becoming a revolutionary, but after abandoning his old life completely it was one of the values he had held that he derided as reactionary and dropped

It's more to show that she does not know Che, and that the stories they did hear about him were from other, nonfriendly sources that would seek to make him look bad in their eyes.

Or as I like to say: They are people who do not have access to information, or were being deliberately withheld information.

Considering they have been mercs and fighting for everyone that pays them, of course they don't know the full story.

Unlike us, who have the internet.

Plus since this is a pre-internet world, I wanted to add more... Of course this is wrong, moments that show their lack of research, awareness or caring that could easily be fixed with a search on the internet.

Some have called me a Hero for standing by them in their darkest hour, China called me a rebel and a terrorist for opposing their exploitation of Tibet, others just call me a mercenary as I have fought and killed for coin. But behind all that my name is Li Mia, and I speak today to all you soldiers who have been betrayed by your homelands for mere political gain, to all you rebels who have bloodied your hands so that your families may one day breath free, to all you outcasts who have been crushed and thrown aside for simply being different.

Those in power cast us out of heaven for reasons as numerous as the stars in the sky but there is hope for us. Here in the sands between Egypt and Sudan I am building a home for us, a place where the solider is respected for his valor and service, where the rebel can find peace and freedom for his loved ones, where the outcast is no longer tormented for the color of their skin, their faith or who they love.

Here on these sun scorched sands I am building a place for us outside of Heaven. A place where by the sweat on our brows, by the strenght of our arms and the courge in our hearts we will build that which will be our own Heaven. This is our Outer Heaven

[ ] SPEACHY SHIT (PLEASE LET SOMEONE COME AND WRITE SOMETHING BETTER)
-[X] We are a Nation of Soldiers, We fight for the causes we believe in, we fight for the money necessary to fund our efforts, and we fight for a day where we can lay down our arms and go back to our families. To those of you who wish to remain the boot on the neck of liberty and freedom, we are your worst nightmare, for those of you yearning for a better tomorrow, we are your Guardians. We offer our hand in friendship to all that wish to see our Dream come true. To those who strive for that Better Tomorrow. But most importantly, We call out to The Abandoned, The Abused, and The Beaten, you have been betrayed by the ones who wished to build their Heaven on the backs of others, who refuse to allow a person the honest labor of their own hands. Those who believe that you may only gain by taking from others. Join us in forging our own Heaven.

NOTE:
Just wanted to get my idea out there for someone to (Hopefully) incorporate into their own speech, because I am shit at it.

Yeah they did but we also procked our triple crit trait like 2 times so that seems like grade-a magoose dice
Fair enough.

I wonder if Hero is going to put this event in quest as a rumor?

Probably not, seeing as, despite this moment, and some of the omakes, this quest will not directly involve that nation. Save some outside mentions.

I'd read that he believed that the LGBT were a decadent capitalist perversion, and was instrumental after Raoul Castro in throwing them into the UMAP forced labor camps.

The Cuban government later changed it's mind and seems to have actively supported LGBT rights by the 80s on, including many statements by Fidel that they regret what they did.
(I shouldn't derail further)

{
Friends, all of us have seen the horrors we humans will inflict on each other. Should we be cast into hell, we will know it to be a reprieve, for we have been through war but in hell, the innocents are spared.
Let this land be an oasis from the cruelty beyond, where every person can drink from a well of peace, and prosper by their own efforts.
Leave your deamons by the limits, and join me.}

Needs quite a bit of work. Not grandiose enough to match the nation's name.

...So, I can't help but wonder what is going through the minds of russia. They backed the woman with the guts to try and intimidate us.
AND THEN we suddenly pull a veteran force 500 strong out of thin air, and almost gotton blown up by her. They are probably extremely worried they done blipped up...

Sometimes with faulty intelligence and some bad luck, you back the wrong horse.

The Soviets did just that and by god they will be screaming when this is over.

[X] We are a nation of killers, of soldiers, of outcasts and rebels, and of those who just don't belong.
-[X] But we are not a nation devoid of morals or principles.

-[X] It is cruel and violent, and it is no place in which others should live. We choose to live in that hellish world, but as our neighbours demonstrate the innocent are all too often thrust into hell with us against their will.
-[X] But I believe that if we work together, towards common good, we can build heaven amidst hell's despair.
-[X] So I have brought these warriors together to my sovereign land to make a nation where all may know peace.
-[X] Whether you're a merc who wants to kick up their feet between jobs, a civilian who wants a safe refuge to build a life, or anything in between, we welcome you to join us in Wài Tiāntáng!

Li Mia seems like the grandiose type, and I figured I'd lean into the heaven thing at least a little for fun.

Also hits what I'd consider the key points: we're positioning ourselves as a peaceful alternative to the war torn mess around us, as backed by a group of very competent mercs. We want everyone to work together, and while we are a group of mercs we are entirely happy to have non-combatants join in to seek a life here.

credit to @Ramble for the first 3.5 lines.

Well one thing I will say is: The Rest of the World, besides a few select individuals in intelligence community's, think that you are just a mercenary that has conquered territory.

Now, depending on how they react (Along with what you say of course), they will decide that its okay that mercenaries can found their own exclaves, or fear for the world order that mercs will do whatever the hell they want.

I mean, I guess if I'd heard that some mercenaries conquered a chunk of war torn land I wouldn't immediately assume they were going to try to make a country of it, yeah.

Feels risky, but it's what we came here to do so I guess there's no two ways about it.

The Problem is, no one knows (Or rather can learn in a amount of time that is sensible) That you purchased the plot of land from the previous two regimes and declared independence.

So just remember, things can get very weird if say "X discovers Y and holy its legal" Sort of thing.

Because, in the eyes of the law, you are the owner of the property you are developing and decided to succeed and declare independece.

it would get very wierd.

I didn't know that we owned the land. Though honestly either way I don't think I'd describe this as legal, as I understand it the whole "declaring independence" thing nixes that fast. Still, does put us in an interesting position. I can't think of a good way to incorporate this info into the speech, but if anyone else has thoughts on that I'm all ears.
