The Dawi in Arda (Hiatus)

Yep, that is a minuscule amount for Warhammer, but very big for us and satisfying a grudge, which on the rest, I'm not sure how we could beat them, but I doubt the GM put them there for no reason.

Also this is goblin town, getting rid of that is a huge win for traders and such. If we can put to the sword any more fucking groni and urks then we have done a grand old job…and the one ring deserves a rune lord throwing it into a foot thick lead chest for future destruction.

The final fight was 7091 Greenskins including the Snotlings and Trolls.
With 52 lost on our side that's a K/D of 136.36 to 1. And most of our Ranger losses were in the beginning when they were ambushed.

Yeah, once we got the surround they were smoked. With the exception of their Nat 100 we probably didn't lose a single warrior once we locked them in.

Might be a bit selfish to search for lost dwarves when we should be overseeing information gathering but I want it.

[X] The Kazad Hargrobi
Probably the responsible thing. We've noticed some oddities, we should spend some time learning more about our enemies and see if we can get some history of the place.

[X] A Grudge Struck Out
We'll kill hargrobi when we can, no need to put a grudge on it.

Edit: Spooky tunnel works for recon in force.
Plug the entrances until we're ready to deal with it. What if it's a big a** rando spider?

We should slowly find out that we are not in the old world, or our planet at all.

Maybe we'll find something from the orcs, a map or something.

More losses than I would have liked but less than I feared. At least the grudge is struck out and we can focus on building up our hold and numbers now.

An epic fight, yet with more losses than we hoped. Still, a glorious victory for our cause.

Since we are here in force, we might as well clean out the whole mountain. Better to do it now, when we have the strength. If we are planning to create a Karak here as well, this is even more important. If not, leaving it be may allow the enemy to regroup and rebuild this place given time.

[X] The Kazad Hargrobi

Like I said, we should do a clean sweep of the place to make sure nothing will fester here ever again. Plus, our Dawi might want to know, if this place was once a Karak that we have just reconquered from Grobi scum.

[X] The Mountain Pass

A no-brainer, gives us more intel about the place and allows to see where the surviving Grobi went.

[X] Recover the Fallen

The injured take priority, but we should also recover the bodies of our slain kin when possible, so that they may be buried with due honours inside our freshly build Tombs. Those that cannot be recovered should be honoured as well.

[X] A Grudge Struck Out

Vengeance has been achieved with interest.

I sorta promised I'd do this, so. And I'm doing it cause I wasn't sure if we got more than one option to look at, so I did this up anyways. As for rewards, I'd like that this actually happens and we can for sure scout the Kazad Hargrobi for suitability or bonuses to the rolls to find interesting things in whatever we actually end up doing.

An Elder's Wisdom

Elder Urtain of Clan Leadbeard had lived for a few centuries. Certainly longer than his thane or the Greatmantle shaping up to be King.

But in those long years, he'd never seen a healer like young Gatrim. So ready to march with the Throng, to even fight with the Throng right at the very front. It said good things about his intentions to hold to his responsibilities, even if he'd rather be in the Healers' Hall. That Lord Gatrim was also the one to pull the Leadbeard Thane out of a pile-on of Hargrobi was going to do wonders for his standing in the Warrior Clan.

The Lord had quietly inquired about Grudges for fatalities. A count of the corpses was nine short. Only nine of a perfect one hundred enemies slain for every fatality taken during the settling of the Grudge of Rock Lobbers.

Well, Urtain was perfectly alright with saying a few dozen Hargrobi fell to their death to boost the number. It was likely true. Nine corpses? Some of the Hargrobi likely got caught in the fire, or had fallen into chasms. Further there had been the Hargrobi killed by the rangers before the Kull, those actually did count towards the Grudge.

Urtain grumbled, of course, as he should. But reminded the younger Lord about the Rangers' kills from the previous year. The lad managed to not let the relief show on his face, but it did show in a slight movement of the shoulders. The Elder laughed inside, Gatrim had likely been stressing about finding nine more hargrobi soon enough to settle the Grudge with the same speed he'd settled this one.

This level of approval is what lead Elder Urtain Leadbeard to walking around the smoldering embers of 'Kazad Hargrobi,' with a few of his fellow grumblers. The (King) Lord had grumbled about not being able to explore all the things he wanted to, and Elder Urtain had 'volunteered' to inspect the site as a possible outpost or turned into a lesser village.

He should be back at the Training Halls showing Beardlings how it's done, instead he was observing and making judgements on hargrobi craftsmanship!

Bah!

The things he did for the Hold.

Between constellations, the single moon, weird enemies, and what I'd guess would be some slightly odd plants and animals there should be enough hints that they should start to figure it out. The first two being the most significant but dwarves likely aren't super observant or knowledgeable about the night sky…even if they lived in tents for awhile :D

Glad it went well, we don't have to make a grudge against jrengus.

that dark power controlling the goblins worries me.

We need to refil the ranks, expand the throng and maybe get ourselves a proper honorguard. If a dwarven king is expected to wade into where the fighting is thickest, we're gonna need some elite dwarves to help us power through.

Eventually, we'll get Hammerers. I'm hoping we will strike mithril before then.

We also need Ironbreakers.

I think we need a Throne Hall before we can be King officially though.

the foundry and estabilishing a sustainable source of worked iron probably take precedence over the throne hall, plus expanding to other peaks since we need space.
Making the armory, even if it probably is just a political move at this point, and sparkilng in extra defences is always good.

Right now my tier 1 priorities are finishing what we started. Tier 2 are finishing off the list of basics clans want: Armoury, Throne Hall, Smelter, Iron Mine, Ale Storehall. Once we have all of that up I think we should start working on our surface hold defenses, building everything in the west, then east, then north before finally finishing the third wall to the south. But simultaneously we should build a new clan hall for the miners and make at least one storehall per material we have.

Hey there! I usually just lurk and don't comment but I was looking at the state of the hold in the info threadmark and I noticed that we are breaking even, but I can't find where all of the coal is going, I know that the forge is taking 10 of it but the mine we have is getting us 20, I wasen't here at the start so I don't know if maybe we started with a deficit?
If everything is fine then you can just ignore me, its just been bugging me.
Other than that, keep up the good work!

Gotta light the interior of the hold. Torches, fires, cooking, etc.

Hello, welcome to the thread, please do feel free to comment more. Especially to help plan or to vote on stuff!

The extra coal is burned as a light source for the hold (and presumably to cook food too). e: Ninja'd.

Ah, ok I assumed that at least some coal went into heating and the like, but I didin't know how much, and, well, as I said, it was bugging me. Thanks for answering!
