There are non-sapient, Earth-like animals, but then there are the "Animal Friends" intelligent, small-sized critters that are effective for powering Badniks (but kidnapping them for that agroes Sonic). While no specific explanation was given on why some animals are just that, and some are sapient energy-providing creatures, the probable explanation would be something like "chaos energy saturation" (especially given that the critters can influence the development and looks of Chao)

I'm pretty sure she's his cousin, be kind of messed up even for him to clone his own cousin to use as a control mechanism for Shadow.
That, and do you want Shadow being angry at being baited with a fake Maria? Poor girl would just have a huge existential crisis for not being "MARIA!!"
Yep he might need a bit more upgrading than others though... he was on the older side to start with after all.

And yes I have in fact considered a DK version of this quest.
Haven't seen the former and Gizoids are... eh honestly I've actually be saving em for a potential squeal/alternative/spin off quest option.
Also giant animals with either enchanced abilities like the Sonic Adventure Orca or downright supernatural powers like the frogs in Sonic heros.

Guardian Robots
Guardian Robots are a technology utilised on the Floating Island, originally designed to defend the ancient echidna race and, perhaps, to assist with other tasks. At some point before Sonic the Hedgehog's visit to ancient history, the ancient echidnas had developed advanced technology in the...
They are Ancient EMP proof Robots.
Their Head also can function as a Cockpit and can be used like a Mecha/Aircraft.
They have a Laser Weapon on the Tip of Each Finger & Thumb, meaning it has 6 Lasers that can be Rapid Fired in Total.
It also has a more powerful Beam Weapon in it's Head/Optical Sensor which can not fire very often unless empowed by the Master Emerald or a Chaos Emerald, which then can allow both Continuous Beam firing and Rapid Fire while Boosted Significantly.
For Ancient Echidna there were two versions of Gizoids.
There was an Advanced Prototype which could Adapt and Mimic others abilities, it could copy both Knuckles and Chaos.... But copying Chaos made it unstable and dangerous to it's creators.
Gizoid (robot)
The "Gizoid" is a name given to a robot found on the Floating Island. In fact, the term refers to Knuckles the Echidna. In any case, the robot is a prototype for an advanced Guardian Robot. Porker Lewis, whilst living on the Floating Island, uncovered a temple in the Marble Garden Zone that had...
After the problems with the Advanced Gizoid, the Ancient Echidna redesigned the Project from the Frame up, in a more simple form that focused purely on being an Echidna sized autonomous Robot.
This version of the Gizoid was based upon the Guardian Robot, 6 Lasers, a single Eye Beam and Flight capable, but not Pilotable.
It is without the Adaptation and Power/Ability copying Systems of the Advanced Prototype, it was not at risk of Rampancy however.
Oh yeah sorry I think I'm going to have most of the ancient Echida stuff for either a sequal or spin off.... well that and for some reasons I don't like em with the Eggman Empire.
I will say you can look forward to potentially fighting some at some point.

That should probably be discussed with Shadow first. Like, don't make it a measure of manipulation, but rather suggest it as a show of trust, see if he'd be comfortable with the idea. Maybe emphasize how his help on recovering Gerald's stuff re:cloning might be needed here (otherwise he'd ask "why didn't you clone her back before finding me?")

Unfortunately since you lack a direct body you are forced to direct Eggpawns to do things such as feeding the Chao….. Someting the Eggpawns oddly enough seem to take joy in doing given how eager they get when the Chaos appointed feeding time arrives.
They also seem to have developed a new quirk of 'petting' the Chao something the Chao itself seems to enjoy immensely…. How perplexing.
Your creator actually noticed this confusion while he was looking over your code for bugs and explained to you these strange behaviors were the result of the Chao being 'cute' and telling you not to worry about it… so you will not.
Hmmm you do notice something odd beyond this cuteness however the sphere on the Chaos head appears to be taking on an orange tint.
Interesting… but you still have plenty of work to do so you file it in the 'later' box.

[] One of Metal Series, Silver Sonic, Mecha Sonic, Mecha Knuckles, Metal Knuckles, or even the prototype any one of these machines could be a potent force if brought up to spec.
[] Past Badniks the good doctor has created a wide variety of machines in the past, perhaps bringing one of these older machines up to date could be of aid to your creator.
[] Current Badniks your creator really is looking to remodle soon and it shows, the line up of active Badniks is fairly small, but you could improve them to get more quality even with the smaller numbers. (Upgrade one of the Sonic Adventure 1 Era Badniks).
[] A new Badnik you do not know how long anything you produce will last, but your current goal is merely to make your creators forces stronger for the next fight, a new machine type should be a decent hold over until the doctor initiates his overhaul.
[] The idea of other airships intrigues you... you should design some more.
[] A powerhouse, instead of updating an old machine or producing a new less robot template a more powerful machine may be needed to aid your creators plans.
