[X] Forgotten Outreach

People? I think this could be Seo's Qatar Defectors moment. The one and only chance to get something amazing that will redefine the entire quest's strategy going forward.
No. This is absolutely not something as revolutionary. It's not even close. We already have been having contact with the Forgotten on a heavy basis since the Washington Conference. Whether or not Seo's involved won't change that. It may give it a higher degree of focus, but it's not radically changing GDI's whole policy the way accepting the Qatarites was.

The noteworthy thing about Forgotten Outreach is how it carries the highest risk of outright killing Seo. We already risked his life once in Chicago, and while we got lucky that time and gained an amazing trait with it, I see absolutely zero reason to gamble with his life again and risk losing all that.

On a memier note, I like the idea that Seo's a 'lead from the front' kind of guy, and doen't shy away from putting himself in danger for the good of everyone else. It adds depth to his 'rogue scientist' characterization.

Would the exposure for the Forgotten Outreach be from Tiberium/Forgotten in general or Seo going out into a Red Zone to talk with Forgotten?
It could be a number of things. Exposure to Tiberium, exposure to NOD assassination from going beyond GDI's more secure areas, exposure to anti-GDI militants among the Forgotten...

The benefits aren't worth the risks. Especially when one factors in how the risks could have us lose the gains we've already made to power up Seo.

Hi! I'm new here, had a good time catching up, even if I would have preferred there be better integration between roll posts and results updates, for instance.

But for now, voting:
With the politicization of the Arcology issue, a high level bureaucrat, not accountable to the voters, can cut through the problems, and direct the project to serve the public interest, not the parties interests.
Y'know what perplexed me? That time we spent a whole bunch of resources on something, and the stated reason it went nowhere was the free market party making a fuss.

Y'know what alarmed the hell out of me? Arcology sites being veto'd on the basis of who was voted for in their vicinity. Public policy should never, ever be targeted based on who a citizen voted for. Apparently this kind of shit isn't even that unusual in kind up there on the Philedelphia, this was just a particularly bad example of it. How much deadweight has GDI been carrying these last eight years because of them prioritizing their slapfights over their mission?

With the changing of the director and treasury secretary, we have a chance to define the perception of the coming new normal. I want that perception to include a lower tolerance for this type of silly buggers, a higher risk that it blows up in their face and makes them look impotent and childish. If you agree that this is important, then I hope you'll vote with me to make Seo's first act in the spotlight be setting that example with the Arcologies.

What are you on about? It was the developmentalists that ruined arcology progress.
This time, yes. Mind, it's not like the IF reps have been free of fucking with shit - I led with a (poorly recalled) example of that just to help make it clear that this isn't an isolated problem.

The developmentalists however, being in our camp, are people we can influence more directly, and it sends a strong statement if we don't hold them above our standards on this. When the goal is changing the political calculus more broadly, that matters.

But as for my personal feelings, I'm just offended that it's happening at all, regardless of who's doing it, and I genuinely think that it's harming the GDI more than what has been thrust into our faces so far. The "this type of slapfighting is kinda normal, just worse than usual" came from ithillid over on discord, and while I'd be in favor of setting an example here even if it hadn't, that certainly hardens my resolve here.

Seo has no direct experience in the orbital projects. However, it is a good time for him to begin learning. Operating out of the Philadelphia, he can learn from the best, and emphasize the role of orbital development in the future of the Initiative.

The Manchester Central Office as Seo is supposed to be our replacement and is part of his job soon.

I don't think that's true at all. As of now with how little, or any attention at all really, that the Forgotten has gotten since that time, I'd say any chance of closer integration could be truly as revolutionary if Seo can make further inroads towards better relations and better understanding of Tiberium for how it works with the human body.

Sure, the option carries the highest risk, but the outer zone areas are also where the military forces with the highest military confidence, the ZOCOM, operates. That combined with all the other benefits the option has for Seo overall and Humanity as a whole means the risks are mitigated and worth it to be taken.

This is where Seo can shine the brightest as a guiding light in the dark.
