New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Out of character, this is actually a legacy system coming into play. Elders don't get generic cultivation-years (because I didn't have those when I started the quest), they just get a chance each turn to advance a stage. The chance is actually favorable to Elders as well - anyone who reaches the Elder stage is going to cultivate on average twice as fast as other Cores. Not deliberately, I just never revised this piece of the system. I didn't even notice how rapidly they both went Late-Core because I forgot about last turn! I'll have to come up with something in-story to represent it.
The Elders all hit it BIG in SRs? Or they got enough wealth to smuggle in top quality medicine from the plains.

Choíros Pentekonter - Good Seed Background
Choíros Pentekonter

Name: Choíros Pentekonter

Appearance: Choíros is a pigman. Slender for his own kind he is still a lot more muscular than humans. His body is fully covered with dark brown fur.
Tusks grow from his mouth and his eyes are a sandstone in colour.

Starting Turn (Age): turn 11 (15)

Cool thing: Choíros was always smart for a pigman. That fact grew only stronger as Elder Pentekonter raised him to the first Heavenstage and grantet him the bronze bloodline on his death bed. However instead of just awakening to the bronze bloodline, the similar yet oh so diffrent bloodline stimulated his own bloodline, one of wind and water. This bloodline makes him faster than other cultivaters of the same stage while also drasticly increaceses his competence in wind and water arts.

Background: Born a pigman he had a hard life in the Hong Xuan territory. His family was send to develop the new lands of the Hong Xuan. There he would, meet maybe in a stroke of good fortune or the lastest fight of his bloodline to change its cruel faith, Elder Pentekonter.
The dying man, maybe in a state of madness or one of enlightenment adopted the pig man who tried to save him. Pentekonter raised him to the first step of cultivation, shared his bloodline, gave him a new name and instructed him to bring his remains back to the clan.

Choíros Pentekonter Omake Turn 11 One

The age of strife was once again uppon them. At least, Quikrr thought that was what his tribe called it. He had heard other names, most prominent Golden Devil hundert years tribulation or as some of the more daring Hong Xuan masters called it in secret, the golden devil punishment.
No matter what its real name was it was of little consequent for the Pig Tusk tribe. There lot was that of one of the many pigman tribes serving the Hong Xuan. Short and painfull lives doing the work that was beneath the Hong Xuan. Quikrr hated it, hated it how most of his people seemed contend, no even proud to slave their whole life away for the Hong Xuan, however he could do little to not do the same. Ever since their ancestors were subjugated thousands of years ago there were no cultivators in the pig tribes anymore, for their only purpose was to serve as cheap labour.

Every pigman had to start working at the age of six , they may grew up faster than humans but with six years of life they were still no more than children. With 10 they moved form light labour to the more gruesome jobs mostly mining and constructing in dangerous environments.
Quikrr was currently on such a construction job at the boarders of the new lands. However to put it bluntly he was fucked. Hes construction team was attacked by spritual beasts their Hong Xuan commander and the other pigman all dead, only Quikrr, fast as he was, was quick enough to get to safety.
If you could call being trapped on a small stone plateau out of range of the dangerous spirit mice "safe*. At least he was not wounded to badly, blood only run out of a large cut on hes right leg, he would easly survive it. The real problem was that without help he would surely die on his way back to camp.
Oh well.... he had nothing more to do than to wait until the mice lose interest in him.

PV: Elder Pentekonter

He groaned, the pain was strong, though the the thought that this is how it was going to end hurt more. Pentekonter opend his eyes and looked around himself, next to him layed his opponent from the fitht sea dead and decapitated. At least it was a good fight and he had gotten his revenge.
Now however he was dying. It was to far to the next clan base that could have treated him and he had but hours to live. He closed his eyes again ready to wait for his death, as suddenly his senses picked up the smell of blood, not that of the clan but simalar in a way hard to describe.
It reminded him of the sea, of his dream of a Golden Devil Navy that would once rule the 3rd Sea. He rose and followed his scences, maybe he could still do something with the short remainder of his life.

PV: Choíros

The spirit beasts were still there, he had already waited for hours if nothing changed he would have to try to fight them. It would be over quickly but he would not allow himself to die like a coward. Just as he was about to ready his resolve and fight to the death, his iron spear in the hands, something changed.
One moment the mice looked at him with hungry eyes and in the next there were no more mice only some red stains remaind where they stood, Near them stood a old man coverd in blood, he had seen people who look like him before. He dropped to hes knees and quickly spoke: " this humble servant greets the Golden Devil. "

The old man starred at him with a look of concentration and mumbles: "a pigman no thats not possible..... or is it? There is no need for ceremony young pigman, dont you see in what state i am? Tell me your name, you are most certanly interesting!"
"I am Quikkr of the Pig Tusk tribe my lord" Quikkr answered slowly rising to his feet. "Quikkr, oh this strange pigman naming conventions, i will never understand them." He looked at him with crazed eyes:" Anyways it looks like faith has guided us together. I am dying and you look like you would have died if I would not have chanced uppon you. I have a task for you, and a gift."

"your wish is my command Master" Quikkr answered. "Good you are quick to answer and show no hesitation, first accept this drop of blood from me." He reached out for the wound of Quikkrs leg and out one of his many drops of blood from his body in to the wound.
Thats the last thing Quikkr saw before he passed out. Something in him stirred, he was the wind carrying the foam, the wave that broke a dam. Something in him awoke and his fate changed.

@Alectai @occipitallobe first Omake for turn 11 I would like to have a life saving treasure this round pls.

The Elders all hit it BIG in SRs? Or they got enough wealth to smuggle in top quality medicine from the plains.

For Kleisthenes it was a lot of accumulated energy that she could use on reverting her body. Essentially her cultivation technique allowed her to grow more quickly by taking on a male body, and then end the transformation for a big boost. She chose to use it to break through into the Great Circle, figuring it was better than betting against the possibility of using it in Nascent Soul. She suffered a body she didn't really like because ultimately she felt the tradeoff was worth it - which I think to a degree is how cultivation functions in Turtle World.

Xinya I'm not so sure about. Maybe she'll have someone steal something within her 'allowable graft' range, I'm not sure. I'll think something up that makes sense in the context of what she's been doing and give us an interlude.

Unless you mean the hypothetical righteous coalition invasion. In which case we just roll over and die since theres not gonna be anything we can do about that scenario for a very long time.
There's a range of options between 'Everyone and their mother come to crush us' and 'A couple of Nascents come to try to take our mines.'
Within the next hundred years, even if we conquer Jingshen, it's unlikely that the RP will have many Nascents to spare. If a halfhearted coalition forms, we'll be happy to have a defensive focus.
With our prospective second Nascent, Yao, Manuel, our Will, and the strongest formation our Cores can create, we might actually be able to hold off a medium-small coalition.

Edit: Here's what we've got so far in terms of plans.

[ ] Plan: We don't like having our wealth stat nerfed here
-[ ] Defer the payments (No cost this turn)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Sheng Yu
-[ ] Building Bridges (Flood Dragon Gang) - You should make more allies. Choose a target on the map and aim to have their relations with you increased. Give gifts, exchange assistance, aim for strategic marriages.
-[ ] Grand Theft Spirit Stones (Jingshen Clan) - Choose a faction, and use your Nascent Soul strength to simply sneak in and steal a large quantity of resources. A little underhanded and shameful, but what do you care for the views of the Righteous Path? Increases wealth.
-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[ ] Fix up your Inefficiency in administration (10 Wealth)
[] Plan: Conservative Flex
-[] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[] Olympiodora Rhangabe
.
-[] Fortifying the new Stork lands.
-[] Write-in : Follow the Array-Engineers to the Great Battlefield. Meditate on the Dao, ferret out secrets, plant seeds, tip scales and grease wheels while remaining unseen. If possible, arrange a confluence of smaller events to coalesce in a massive blow, revealing the reach of Manuel's sneaky fingers only after the fact.
-[] The Scorpion Wagons (5 Wealth)
-[] Build the Wasp Array (11 Wealth)
[] Plan: Economic Focus, Benevolence, Passives, and Sheng Yu
-[] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth) - Your vassals will look on you more kindly - there are always demands, but showing your good faith keeps them in line. Trust is a necessity for those who seek to rule.
-[] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[] Sheng Yu

-[] Increasing Wealth - More trade, more mines, more growth. Aim to find more Spirit Stones, tax more from traders, whatever works to increase your Clan Wealth. Increases Wealth by an average of 5.
-[] Economic Activity - Carve arrays, scribe useful cultivation techniques onto scrolls, hunt down useful opportunities that might be dangerous to a Core Formation Elder. Make some money for the Clan.
-[] The Scorpion Wagons (5 Wealth)
-[] Create his Core Will (15 Wealth)
[ ] Plan: Sharpening the knife
- [ ] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
- [ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[ ] Sheng Yu
-[ ] intrigue: jingshen vassals, specifically the heavenly bandit kingdom and great scorpion sect, thier relationship and stance of current affairs with Jingshen and if they would join us
-[ ] Manuel: Intrigue: Jingshen core territory, general affairs, who thier 3rd nascent candidates are, the situation and cultivation of thier elders and the spread of corruption.
[] Plan honorable devils: Give peace a chance edition
-[] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[] Negociate a longterm binding peace with the Jingshen (Manuel)

--[] Should negociations fail, stop deliveries of spirit stones
-[] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
--[] Contingent on the success of our Jingshen negociations, else don't (or bring them back if already sent)
-[] Olympiodora Rhangabe
-[] Raiding the Devil Bees (Clan)

--[] Contingent on the success of our Jingshen negociations, else raid Jingshen instead
[ ] Plan Speed over Precision: Area Denial
-[ ] Within the Grand Scorpion Sect territories, Manuel is to remove quislings, lecture and empower the sect and deniably disrupt trade between the northern and southern Jingshen territories. All spoils are to be used to strengthen the Scorpions and develop good relations.
-[ ] Clan Focus: Fortifying (Heavenly Bandit Kingdoms) The clan is to assist the Heavenly Bandits in their rebellion against their Jingshen masters, deniably disrupting trade between the northern and southern Jingshen territories, and leaving the Bandits stronger and more favorably inclined to us.
-[] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[] Olympiodora Rhangabe
[ ] Plan Race to the Top
-[ ] Defer the payments (No cost this turn)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Olympiodora Rhangabe
-[ ] Raising Nascents - Your Clan has recovered much in the past two hundred years after resounding success from desperate gambles. It is time to secure that growth. The Golden Devils can support a second Nascent at the Early Stage so you aim to raise one up. You are seeking out Cultivation Boosters and Tribulation Treasures for your Great Circle Core elders. Your legions muster for raids into the old archives to seek out helpful lore. You reach out to allies, Righteous Bandits and more to scour markets and leads otherwise closed to you. Every industry is bent to this purpose, Herb Gathering, Beast Taming, Alchemy, Divination and more. Even your legions sent abroad are alert to opportunity.
-[ ] Intrigue - Your desperate effort to raise a Nascent has one source. Jingshen is at the borders, a tide retreating to return in a great rush washing away all that you have built. As your Clan churns to provide the means to secure your future, you must act to buy them time. Distract Jingshen by weakening their holdings. The Heavenly Bandit Kingdoms and the Grand Scorpion Sect are hostile vassals. Subvert them by showing Jingshen's weakness in the wake of your raids blessed by the Scorpion. Impress upon them your honor and ties to the Righteous Path, standing in alliance with the Righteous Bandits of the Flood Dragons. Remind them of their misuse in the face of the Battle Blood Cannibal Sect. Threaten Jingshen's access to their new territories by revolt. Adding them to your territory would be useful but above all else make Jingshen spend effort suppressing unruly vassals that could be spent building a strike against you.
-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth) - You have a favorable alignment with the itinerant Righteous Bandits and have acted in their defense before. Securing a reliable ally who would stand with you against Jingshen is worth the cost. The Flood Dragons recently lost their major strength on the Great Battlefield but they do have some 50,000 Qi Condensation juniors who would benefit from access to your Technique Palace to rise up to replenish their ranks. You would not think to insult lady Yao's pride by offering your support as charity. No this is payment for strength in support of yours. Some of your more involved efforts to raise Nascents could do with the support of a friendly Nascent ally, who of course would take a cut of the rewards. Hmm... Those archives near the Turtlebone mountain could use clearing out.
[ ]Plan: Proving a Point
-[ ] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Sheng Yu
-[ ] Intrigue Jingshen

-[ ] Economic Activity
-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
[ ]Plan: Prepare for the fumigation
-[ ] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Sheng Yu
-[ ] Training Soldiers (clan)
-[ ] Scout the Devil Bees (Manuel)

-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
[ ]Plan: Who we ARE!
-[ ] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Olympiodora Rhangabe
-[ ] War against the Noble Devils Alliance and/or Devil Bees (coordinate with righteous powers)

-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
[ ] The Scorpion Wagons (5 Wealth)
"
Archegetes, Destasia's scorpion hordes have some value. They have been bred exceptionally well, and could be bred to serve as guards along the Scorpion Road as well as transports. I estimate this would let us shake another two or three Legions loose in times of trouble that could otherwise not be spared to guard the Road."

[ ] Refound the Flood Scorpion Gang (20 Wealth)
"Archegetes, let's breed Ascended Spirit Scorpions and give them to Lady Yao to adopt as new disciples. I know it's expensive, but with sufficient Spirit Scorpions she could easily refound the Gang on the backs of disciples who possess true strength, and also stingers that are just oozing with delicious poison. All of them would come from scorpions who love the Clan, and I suspect we might be able to lure her into our orbit and hold her there much more closely in the grip of powerful pincers. I suspect she'll do so in the long term anyway. It'll be incredibly costly, but reliable long-term scorpions is worth a lot."

[ ] Suborn Righteous Disciples (6 Wealth)
"Archegetes, I would prefer to have a firm picture of the war in the Plains. With sufficient wealth invested, I should be able to use both spying scorpions and simple bribery with adorable scorpion pets to keep our information networks far more up-to-date."

[ ] Build the Scorpion-Wasp Array (11 Wealth)
"I know, I know. Bees. Wasps eat them. And breeding scorpions with wasps would make the ultimate flying, pinching and stinging combination of bee-annihilation. So why not make giant puppet scorpion-wasps that hunt down Devil Bees infiltrating our territory to kill them? It sounds sexy and awesome, but. The thing is that it really, really is."

[ ] Reincarnate into a Shoulder Scorpion (15 Wealth)
"I know, I know. It's not worthy of an old man to want to stay on. But with sufficient Spirit Stones I could reincarnate into the form of a portable Shoulder Scorpion, allowing it to perch next to my successor's head for some time. I'd live for the few centuries that is the lifespan alloted to a Shoulder Scorpion, but it'd shore up any deficiencies they have. It'd give me the energy my Will to think for some time, truly advising my successor at every turn, letting me teach them everything I know and reproach them with a educational sting whenever they screw up. I could even take on enough duties that we'd see no loss of efficiency due to the new Elder taking charge until they were entirely comfortable with their position. Also, Destasia could be inspired to write new erotic fanfiction involving my long, stiff, engorged stinger and your mighty spears, which would make her happier and more productive at her job."
[ ] Plan: Straightforward Strongarm
-[ ] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
-[ ] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[ ] Sheng Yu
-[ ] War. Bribe Yao, gather all remaining forces to the Jingshen border and keep it simple: vassalage or ruin. Should they choose wisely, we will help them stomp out the bandits and the scorpions, settle a new "useful" refugee Clan in the remaining part of the Cannibal lands and have them build a trade route to the Storks. Should they embrace struggle, Manuel will hunt down Jiao while Core cultivators bog down the old man and Yao acts as deterrent against a breakthrough.

-[ ] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)

There's a range of options between 'Everyone and their mother come to crush us' and 'A
And they all end the same way, pretty much. Which is why the best strategy is avoidance.

Simplification is our strength, since that let's us bunch up enemy coordinators into masses where our Formations make for a decisive advantage

We just cant handle more than two Nascent Souls in a serious conflict. With a second Nascent that number becomes three.

That's pretty much it.

So there is zero reason to risk outside forces tossing their own spare Nascents into the very obviously coming fight between ourselves and the Jingshen.

Zeno Angelus Alexandria Interlude - Thoughts on Abel Angelus

In a quiet moment, when paperwork does not stack to the high heavens and her platoon doesn't get itself into more trouble with the usual ghost than they can handle, she finally had time to just relax. The last few years had been difficult, but good for the clan overall. Many died but Alexandria was happy their efforts to curb the appearance of haunts and wraiths in the most populated places had at least a small effect on the Clans fate.

But the thing Alexandria liked the most was finally acting according to her dao and starting the foundations of her own [Family]. The time after the trials had been hectic and Zeno - ~her husband~ - was understandably exhausted from the fighting. It was hard to imagine facing down a king, much less fighting their dao guardians nearby while being suppressed by one.

It was good then, that they took the time to have a proper vacation and truly enjoyed themselves. The water of Pearling was as clear as Zeno claimed and just such a delight to relax in. No strange qi fluctuations to account for or an opportunistic beast or bandit to fight off. She could at least admit privately that seeing the beasts of the desert accidentally charge off a cliff, as they strode through a portal midcharge, never gets old. Apart from leisurely enjoying the water we did so much there. We drank through many nights, gambled and loosened some other fools pockets and enjoyed each other's company undisturbed for the first time in many decades. For once there was no curse interfering with our lives or any mission forcing us to separate for decades at a time.

Truly, the stories of Immortals undersell how lonely life as a cultivator can become.

Hmm…maybe Maria would like to visit us? I can at least send a letter and if our luck holds true she arrives when the children are a little older or better yet with Georgy in tow! Old Gold knows why his correspondence with us is so sparse.

On matters of lonely individuals, Abel Angelus lives a very lonely life as well. She'd seen him interact with Zeno and their mother Iulia alright, but when it comes to actual friends? Nothing. The closest thing to a friendship Abel seems to have are his various acquaintances both high and low. Various mortals flock to him with their newest inventions, hoping to get funding when they can spot him near the family manor, but since most of them don't meet his exacting standards, he actually sponsors few and asks for Spirit stones from the family's stores for fewer reasons.

The cultivators he is known to have met are more eclectic still, even accounting for Fort Dreadsand and the trials as a whole. Konstantinos and Minervina, both of their fame echoing beyond the clans' mess halls into the wider worlds for their own works. One is known to strike across realms and make any fight with her a pyrrhic victory at best, the other has made the public image of the clan his craft to contribute to the clans eternal war effort. Important and amusing information spread to the far corners of the clans territories with only the rumor mill his superior in speed of information spread.

Though, is that truly all that bad?

She could admit that most of the friends she had found were found among her legion under lady Callista. Abel on the other hand, is more of a free agent and was born with Goergy jr. under auspicious circumstances. The Angelus family members rarely births a child near a liminal rift and we knew from the start that both of their souls have been affected by this somehow. A passion focused mind seems to be a rather mild change in comparison to the usual afflictions. Though, even that seems to have changed in the last few years.

More and more he seeks out people in search of something, suggesting inventions to those who would hear him, irreverent to the status of those he speaks with. Oh, she had heard he was perfectly polite, but very few have the gall to ask Minervina for any advice or suggest Konstantinos any ways to improve his craft. Most would blanch at his presumption, to know better as the experts of their craft- Others think Abel doesn't know enough to contribute in a discussion with Minervina, but he meets these expectations more often than not and in the case he doesn't he learns from these encounters, accepting failure as part of a process.

She knew that Abel certainly didn't lack confidence, but these two examples purge any remaining doubt. Abel will be fine. It probably helps that Zeno seems to really like his view of status and cultivation and no doubt encourages it when they talk.

Having Zeno praise Abels lack of anger towards his lacking cultivation and his good work ethic is always a good topic for small talk or trash talk. Knowing that my family member absolutely destroys his enemies with his fire-iron-thingy before the enemies reach him fills me with pride. She asked Abel regularly what danger he faced in his adventures and Abel always talks of defeated enemies in either annoyance or just dead monotone when they were particularly hard to kill. The best part is, when Zeno and I retell his stories of adventure to various ghosts and wraiths, clinging to this turtle world for vengeance or any other reasons. They declare him to be impossible. We simply reiterate his lowly status as a cultivator and emphasize his use of formations in line with clan doctrine.

They plead to the world for all this to be a dream, hoping to be proven wrong that no cultivator would have so much confidence or apparent might without the cultivation to match.

The ghosts ask to know where his confidence is, but their expectations are not fulfilled. The wraiths howl to the world and demand to know the secret to his will to live, where he hid his cultivation to match his enemies and defeat so many above his station when Abel himself is so young and weak in cultivation. All the while they contemplate this seemingly impossible person, their lack of focus on the physical present slowly unravels their translucent silhouette.

They don't ask a second time, because as liminal beings they know the absolute truth. Abel Angelus does not help others or make progress into branches of arts unknown, because it helps his cultivation directly. For Abel sees the glory you achieved as righteous as any other.

Abel Angelus is.

AN: Fictionfan asked me nicely to show how other people think of Abel and I used the opportunity to try myself at writing a proper Interlude. In this case from the POV of Alexandria.

Since this is my first Omake for turn 11 I ask for a Life-Saving Treasure.

Nice, very nice. I love your introduction. Would it be possible for me to collab with you and Victor Wulf about the legion entrance. Play off your relatively less knowledgeable Aspirant with my prepared good seed. The main conflux would be the paradox of their bloodlines. You're unresponsive to qi and the Delphi are entirely too responsive

Sure! That sounds like a lot of fun!

Abel Angelus 29 - Bicycle part 1
Bicycle part 1
It is time for my next invention. Not nearly as ambitious as my computer or hand cannon. But hopefully more practical. I am going to reinvent the bike. Also who knows, with how the computer and hand cannon worked out if I spend a bunch of time and energy making a bike a super fast spirit beast should come and offer to become my mount. Or at least that has been the pattern so far.

Looking through the clan archives I find that this sort of oddly coincidental fortune is actually somewhat common when I read the stories of great cultivators. Fire cultivator finds ancient fire techniques in a random cave that are only useful for them and such. At first I thought it was just the narrative bias effect in that people with good fortune are more likely to have stories written about them, but now that it is happening to me I now have a new hypothesis.

It is well established that qi responds to intentions, but why assume that is only the case in the immediate short term? When I was gunsmithing and making my computer I spent large amounts of time focusing on a goal and then suddenly a way to use Qi to accomplish that goal suddenly appeared before me. The pattern is consistent. Also nicely explains why there hasn't been any sort of mortal industrial revolution yet despite how long history is. If someone really focuses on some goal a way to do it with Qi will appear before him. Not sure how to test that besides just trying to invent something new. If I try to get a mortal to really focus on a goal there is no way to control my own presence. Wish I had a way to control this experiment without my own realization. It's possible that things might not work if I am forcing it.

I walk around my workshop in the Angelus family manor and write down everything that I remember about bikes. They have wheels, pedals, handlebars connected to the front wheel, a chain connecting the pedals and the back wheel, a seat and gears. I remember that gears worked by changing the size of the inner wheel the chain is on, but I can't remember ever knowing how a bike can change gears mid pedal. Well not all bikes had gears. I can figure that out later.

Not sure I can blacksmith a bike. With my clockwork computer if ever I couldn't manage a fine enough detail going bigger was usually an option for everything besides the screen. I am considering just using wagon wheels for now. But no normal wood just would not be able to handle the strain. Bone seems like the way to go.

There is a problem with ordering spirit beast parts. Even if the part in question isn't actually useful for anything. Even if the beast is regularly hunted because other parts are useful. Still the not useful parts are expensive. Why do you ask? Because of marketing. Someone will use spirit bone wheels on this wagon when wood would work just as well so that they can point at them and brag. Anything made out of spirit beast materials might as well have a huge brand name on it for how much it jacks up the price even if it is completely useless.

I skipped using spirit bones for my first prototype. Yes they would be better for withstanding cultivator strength, but right now I only need a bike for me not some 9th heavenstage. Regular pig bones work for me and wood works for me. In any case, despite my troubles with getting materials, making the frame of the bicycle was easy. I had it done in less then a week even taking into account other duties like array crafting, formation training and other training. Still don't know why or how Mom got me so many exemptions, but I haven't questioned it because I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth.

It is when I attach the chain to the back wheel that I quickly find a bunch of problems. Having the pedal directly connected to the back wheel causes all sorts of problems and just makes the bike a pain to ride. I can't just coast along on my momentum. If the back wheel is spinning then the pedals also have to spin at the same rate furthermore in order to increase speed I have to spin the pedal faster than they are already turning. The handle bars don't turn the front wheel like I remember. I have a lot more fiction from where the back bike frame and the front handlebars connect. All of these make biking a pain and are obvious wastes of energy that were not the case with bicycles back home even single gear ones. What am I missing?

I go back to my list of things I remember about bikes and start adding as many words as I can hoping to jog something. Everything from from I remember about what sort of tires are supposed to be the best to how to do a wheelie. Wait, ball bearings. They were supposed to have something to do with bikes. I never saw them on my bike, but I heard people talk about them and even played with some of them. They were small metal balls.

I look over my prototype. How would small metal balls help this design? Well I guess my first question is where would they have been if I didn't see them? I look over to where the back of my frame attaches to the part with the handle bars. Hmm. If I had a bunch of ball bearings in the contact point between the two parts it would allow the front wheel to help support the bike without causing a bunch of friction at the where they join when I turn the front wheel with the handle bars so long as I had something holding the ball bearings in place which would explain why I never saw them on my bike.

Not quite sure how ball bearings help with the other problems, but the first step is to make some. Which is very difficult. I try casting them in molds, but making a mold that small is hard and the hole that the liquid metal is poured into causes a deformity. I guess it sort of works if I am willing to spend large amounts of time polishing out the deformities and still not quite have a perfect sphere.

Next I try just dropping liquid metal into cool water to have it form. It sort of works. The real problem is that when liquid metal touches water the water will immediately turn into steam which causes a bit of deformation.

What if I just drop the metal off tall towers and have it cool on the way down? No steam explosion problems then. I try that, but it only works with lead. At least with the height of the towers I have access to. Not sure if lead can handle the stresses that ball bearings get put under.

Regarding the plans to antagonize Jingshen . . . the resource movement suggests that they seem to be determined to get a 3rd Nascent Soul or die trying. Poking and prodding them indecisively will only foster resentment on all sides.

Personally, I think we should bunker down so that our golden generation can grow now and roflstomp later, and my other plan reflects that, but I'm game to play devil's advocate as well.

Your plan does have the benefit of breaking the doomclock.

Jingshen is a Mid-Tier Nascent, I'm not sure our Core Cultivators will be able to stall him, even with their punch-across-great-realm formation. If we give up on making sure they can't quickly raise a Nascent, we may be able to have the formation stall Lady Jiao while Yao and Manuel kill Jingshen together.

Edit:
It's probably better to have the Core Formation back up Manuel against Jingshen while Yao stalls Jiao, since Nascents can fly away from the formation.
Interestingly, Yao and Jiao have exactly opposite Daos. Acceptance vs Transformation.

Is this a joke?

That kind of naked aggression will not only throw us into the teeth of whatever defenses the Jingshen have immediately after swapping to a new military elder (and thus eat penalties from inexperience af a protracted campaign/logistics) its also a perfect cassus belli for the Righteous Path

Even without the RP being able to act now, theyd have to answer that kind of naked aggression and challenge to the basis of their mutual defense unity

It's the kind of insult the SPS would have no choice but to answer and make us a pariah. Even if we pull it off in the short term, in the long term itll only be a matter of time before we eat a Righteous path coalition determined to wipe us out and take over the spirit stone trade in the name of avenging the Jingshen

This is an awful idea

The battle in the Battlefield isn't going anywhere anytime soon and people already argued that with the full resources of the Desert, we could catch their leftovers even if they scrape together a good turn, not to mention that the Bees are gaining momentum as well.

Also, remember that the clock to get out of Thin Qi is ticking, so the question is whether we'll ever get a better chance to stick the knife in than monopolizing all the spirit stones of our region.

Another perspective is that with our current strength and momentun, we have simply outgrown the Jingshen as a rival and need a bigger conflict to keep growing . . .

We are going for this right?
Most likely, judging by the plans that have been suggested so far. It and paying back Hong Xuan seem to be in the lead.
Sheng and Olympiodora on the other hand seem very evenly matched.

The argument was if they threw together an anemic coalition against us, a defensive focus would be useful. While I think that someone's going to try to invade us eventually (sooner rather than later if we throw our weight around) and Jingshen will be doing their best to try to provoke it, I'd rather not scream that they don't have the guts if we can limit their interest in us instead.

If we manage to get a Nascent before they do, or if we cut them off from their southern territories, we'll be in a much better position against them. Manuel has said that if we have enough Cores and land, we'll be able to strangle them without even a fight.

That's mistaken.

The NDA wouldve experienced a potential collapse this turn if the Bees werent playing boogeyman in the South.

The fact that they went after the Gemstone justice after the Gao Clan visibly held back last turn is pretty clearly a raid for resources, evidenced by the lack if Demon Altar leading that particular charge.

It was headed by the Gao and Time Shatter. One of whom was the very faction that had held back last turn.

That, along with the progress made by the Righteous Path against the NDA at large make it far more likely that the Noble Demon Alliance is about to hit the nadir of its expected life style. Your assumption is faulty, and your logic presents a convenient best case scenario as veritable fact.

No it isnt. Our larger issues regarding the situation with the region are ones solved by things like the Obisidian Tower and conquering the Cloud Demon caves.

Only one person to my knowledge is arguing for peace with Jingshen.

It's not me.

Ha!

I guess it was a joke, after all.

You sure got me there. Good one!

Even if we count Yao as one of our Nascents, which we shouldn't becauseshe is our ally rather than a member, we only have even NAscent numbers. In no way have we outgrown Jingshen, and if you really want a bigger enemy, the Devil Bees are right there and already hate our guts, so why court death by pissing off like 10 Nascents?

Reposting @Alectai's Plan as a placeholder vote to bring it to attention, will edit it later if someone creates fluff descriptions or further details for the actions:

[X] Plan: Proving a Point
-[X] Repay the Hong Xuan (10 Wealth)
--[X] As convenient as deferral would be, much of our reputation--such as it is--relies on our uncompromising commitment to the bargains made. So long as our subordinates know that cooperation will be rewarded in due course and without significant delay, they will continue to cooperate--and not begin shopping around to invite another Power to meddle.
-[X] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
--[X] The time to show the Clan's strength is now--with the Great Battlefield approaching the next act of the Ninth Demon Annihilating War, we have a rare opportunity to show how our current generation is not to be trifled with. Not merely as engineers, but the march of our Legions--hardened by the Trials and empowered by new discoveries. A reminder to those who might think to meddle with the Desert's affairs, that the Golden Devil Clan is peerless in the art of War.
-[X] Sheng Yu
--[X] The Clan does not lack for experts in fortification, nor does it suffer in coordination, or the skill of our Engineers. But even with our new lands and new strength, without the ability to attack at times of need, we may find ourselves passing off key opportunities in the Great Era. Sheng Yu has proven himself in the great strike on Jingshen--give him the support and backing needed to repeat this feat as further opportunities arise.
-[X] Intrigue/Scouting the Jingshen (Clan)
--[X] With Sun Diaxiang unable to make a move on the Optimatoi for some time yet, the Jingshen Clan is the most immediate threat to our survival. Should they muster a third Nascent Soul before we can raise a second of our own, calamity will surely follow. Send forth our eyes and ears, pay off who we must, discover what weaknesses we may. And above all else? Get us a timeline about how long we have to work before this rivalry comes to a head.
-[X] Economic Activity (Manuel)
--[X] With the Trials leaving the Clan in good condition, there is time to see to the affairs of the future--and our most key concern is raising a second Nascent Soul. This will require a degree of wealth--yes--but more importantly, it will require the necessary tools and treasures to tilt the scales in the Clan's favor in the inevitable Tribulation. And for treasures capable of influencing a Nascent Soul's rise? Who better to seek them than the Archegetes himself?
-[X] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
--[X] The Flood Dragon Gang are stalwart allies--as Lady Yao aided us in our time of need, so will we return the favor. This is proper behavior. That we can make use of the opening of our vaults to re-establish a middle-power in time to contribute further to the Demon Annihilating War--while shaming our more self-centered rivals? Well, nobody ever said doing the right thing couldn't also join hands with self-interest, did they?

No fancy lore or flavor for this at the moment, but the key point here is establishing how we're a much better ally than Jingshen could ever be while steadily accumulating power. Clan focus is on investigating Jingshen so we can get an idea what the doomclock is at, while Manuel starts poking and prodding around for an economic edge--full recovery from the Trials should happen passively over the course of the turn given how low our casualties were after all.

And 'Why are you paying Hong Xuan? They can afford to wait!'. And I tell you "Yes, they can, but the key point is that it sets an example to all of our vassals--including the brand new ones that are still a bit uncomfortable but produce valuable Life Extension methods and Luck Supply." These are critical assets that we have no reliable source for outside of them, and it behooves us to make an example of honoring our debts to our vassals. Especially after the Trials--because it is a show of strength to be able to drop something like this right after a time where we should be bleeding out.

More importantly, we have a short window here where our neighbours expect us to turn inward, so won't be expecting us to be acting outward. This should aid our intrigue attempts on Jingshen and limit the possibility that someone sets up a trap for Manuel.

Finally, refounding the Flood Dragons is another step towards accumulating a great deal of soft power. They're a known Righteous Sect who have been left to die on the vine until the other powers are good and ready. Bringing them back into play on our own dime is a gigantic diplomatic flex, doubly so as we may be able to get Yao to promise support if Jingshen starts shit. This is extra profound because Jingshen just fucked up their own diplomatic efforts, so we can roll in and take advantage.

Now, some possibilities include a diplo push instead of intrigue while having Manuel intrigue Jingshen--which is an exciting if risky prospect, but this is just my off the cuff assessment of the whole setup. I'll leave it for other minds to pick things over and add suitable fluff.

[X] Plan: We don't like having our wealth stat nerfed here
-[X] Defer the payments (No cost this turn)
-[X] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[X] Sheng Yu
-[X] Building Bridges (Flood Dragon Gang) - You should make more allies. Choose a target on the map and aim to have their relations with you increased. Give gifts, exchange assistance, aim for strategic marriages.
-[X] Grand Theft Spirit Stones (Jingshen Clan) - Choose a faction, and use your Nascent Soul strength to simply sneak in and steal a large quantity of resources. A little underhanded and shameful, but what do you care for the views of the Righteous Path? Increases wealth.
-[X] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[X] Fix up your Inefficiency in administration (10 Wealth)

[X] Plan: Proving a Point with Scorpions
-[X] Defer payments to the Hong
-[X] Send the Clan's best Array-Engineers as well as several Legions to the Great Battlefield.
-[X] Sheng Yu
-[X] Clan focus: Intrigue Jingshen
-[X] Manuel focus: Economic Activity
-[X] Refound the Flood Dragon Gang (20 Wealth)
-[X] The Scorpion Wagons (5 Wealth)
