I would personally dump these two ingredients for more mundane crafting supplies, or at least one of them. We don't have any particular plan for these, and they're minor ingredients at best. We only have 6 units, which might not be enough for more than a charm or two, so we should stock up.

We don't have any particular plan for anything beyond "an axe", which shouldn't use up that many supplies. It's not like we're gonna be crafting anything before another supply run anyways.

Let's say we're sent on a mission outside the sect, and we need to use our charm crafting skills in order to make something to solve a problem, and we've used up most of our stuff in a project prior to leaving. We won't necessarily have a convenient supply market available outside the sect. As I recall we were advised to keep a healthy stockpile, so I'd rather just have some more.
 
I have reservations about putting all our eggs in the master-the-BSA basket.
Both BSA and Vitriolic Retort are rather physical damage based. What if we come up against something where this is ineffective?
Warhound's Cry cannot be used safely around others at the moment. However, I would not expect that issue to disappear until phase 3.
Achieving that will require 2 Choir's Notes and 2 Heartbeats from Jai Shouxi, likely a Spider's Serum from the market. ( I have yet to work out how the anam requirements increase. I'm assuming that the Sound cost won't jump up heaps.)
Other than it being cheap, do we really need 4 Stagheart pills to have enough Earth to master BSA? Do we even need to fully master BSA? Going to phase 4 from phase 2 is likely to be a significant improvement.
Would it be too big an action cost to improve Warhound's Cry as well?

If someone could crunch the numbers on a plan for purchasing the requirements for achieving phase 3 Warhound's Cry, and whatever is possible for BSA, I would appreciate it. I'll think about it in the morning.

(Still wanting that Pirate Flag for making some Crab/Camel/Turkey armour. :) )
 
Then we rely on our teammates to help us. The goal here is not to be a top tier combatant, but to be good enough we're not totally getting carried through the deeps and can contribute. We're a crafter, first and foremost

Okay, as much as I'd like to level WC, unless we plan on concentrating on it I don't think doing so is necessary because only one phase probably won't make it so it won't hurt allies anymore. Given we're going as a group, using WC would actually be to the group's detriment in that case. On the other hand, we're hoping to invite Nokai, and I think there's a good chance she'll come with us. She and her pack will likely have mastered WC to a higher level by now, so they could fill the role that uses that in our party.
 
Looks like we'll need more time to figure out who the hammer thief is. Glad we didn't end up in a fight, though; we'll need to be in tip-top shape for next week's battle.

I'm a little concerned about the dearth of healing pills in our shopping lists, though. We don't know how many licks we'll need to take down there.
I'll change my plan to include another healing pill. I dropped the Sapling. Everbloom and Ifeagrass has been at the market before, so they might be recurring items so we might be able to get duplicates another time for a better healing charm.

How does our actions look like for next week?
4 to pop pills, 2 for the mission. And then?
Our only other option to get to the 8th circle is to do assignments. So, do we go for 3 assignments?
We should atleast do one in order to benefit from the drive trait that KZ has.
I imagine that the issue can be resolved if we don't go there for a week. The same thing happened to the water/whirlpool kukuni.
 
Throwing my hat in the ring with a new plan. Basically i had a thought, what if better stuff unlocks upon reaching the 8th circle? I can see two reasons for this, 1. That higher circles get first pick on mats so better mats and elixirs are available the higher we go up. 2. What is sold to the ninth circle is limited so we get more choices once we hit the eight. Either way, I want to wait with as many sect points as possible to go to the shop after hitting 8th circle, which will happen in two weeks, like right after we finish the deeps. Worst case we get some of the similar stuff we see here. Best case we get better mats to choose from.

And so my plan is to buy the minimum for maxing BSA plus the healing elixirs. This way we can save as much as possible for later.

My apologies for my inattention to the thread. Now that I'm here, let me answer the question I've been tagged on a few times: the pill question. Zhi can take up to his CON score number of pills per action (currently 2). Also, no one asked but since we're on the subject, Zhi can safely cycle a pill with a grade up to or equal to your CON times 2. So keep that in mind.

So, when we formed our core, we took a pill as part of a cycling action, iirc.

Does anyone know if this means we can take pills while performing a cycling action, or even any action, or that taking pills is an action of itself now?

If the first is true, then we could rent out The Stomping Garden, and use pills to save ourselves an action. It'd wouldn't be efficient economically, as The Stomping Garden is 50 points, but it would be action efficient. Probably not worth it, but it might get us a cycling upgrade, see what the wonder looks like, and another action next week would let us take another sect job and recoup some of the money loss, maybe take another swing at the investigation, or do anything, really.

Hmmm. This is interesting, and maybe a clue towards dislike of some of the older crafting students towards Zhi.

Is he being judged for being an elitistic hermit? Apparently most of the crafters work in and gather around the Garden and make up a sort of an artisan community, that inevitably has a plethora of different interactions including talking shop (which clearly Zhi misses and is interested in).

Is him being a solitary artisan thought of having pretension above his station?
With not actively participating in the community mentioned above considered a "diva" behaviour, and him obviously being too unexperienced and unskilled to behave as such.

Or maybe it's just a collective general distaste for the concept of double-dipping and not focusing solely/mostly on crafting skills.

Anyway, no matter the reason, I propose that we dedicate an action or two in the future to interacting with other craftsmen. Zhi is obviously interested in professional discussions, what with a couple of mentions of having to focus on the matter at hand.
