[X] Assist Cai Renxiang immediately, bringing your spirits with you. Ducal heiress or no, he has three stages on her. He seems to be the only one who can immediately pull the starstone out of play anyway.

I don't see the point in preventing interference in her duel when she's outmatched and probably won't win anyway. Also, again, we're in combat here. There's a fair chance Renxian could die, so let's try and limit that.

Technically this would qualify as holding a dance party with the reinforcements being the invited guests, and the uninvited guests! :V

Well it's great I was wrong about our ability to move the Plot Rock, that was fucking awesome.

Remember that the worst case scenario for Cai in this situation is that she gets controlled by her dress. If she ever gets in mortal danger the dress takes over and destroys whatever put her in danger. It's pretty mentally scaring but at least she won't die.

I was shook for Zhengui when the dancer cut him with the knife... then I realized they tried to poison Zhengui of all people which he would laugh at and have war wounds to parade about with matching war scars with his momma.

What are the odda that Rat Man has a necrotic technique, like the others, and that killing him prompts a "and now outrun the rot-tide" sequence.
Decent but that would be a victory, since:
"...If you have desecrated the cradle of the Twelfth, you will regret it," the more powerful cultivator grumbled.
I'm pretty sure contaminating the meeting spot with impurities would count as a desecration.

My main problem with the fortress idea is that we're building it around something we know messes with Qi. So we have a rock that will constantly be trying to degrade the fortress in the middle of it.

Even so, Ling Qi was made for mulching mooks, not fighting higher tier cultivators. Being a mobile defense point is what she does best, if I understand the math cabal right.

As long as we're planning to fully apply our support skills - which seems to be guaranteed if we're in range to try to prevent interference.

Wasn't the whole purpose of the operation to see how well we work together? I'd rather try to ace Cai's objectives than the war council's objectives.

Isn't that more about showing we can complement each other rather than literally fighting side by side? Keeping the bulk of the enemy away while she duels a priority target still sounds like a decent demonstration of cooperation to me, and more appropriate for the current situation.

In the long run we're supposed to be an agent or a land-holding vassal rather than a close bodyguard. In our post-sect roles working together in big battle would probably mean leading our own troops near and supporting Cai rather than personally joining her in duelling an individual target. This is a big enough battle that working together at a bit more distance seems appropriate.

I'm also a bit worried about having enough practice fighting together closely. The last training with Cai we saw onscreen wasn't a group strong or big enough to make Ling+Cai against others a common or educational match. Domain interactions might be unfavorable, our darkness and mist and stealth and revelry probably needs a bit of care to synch up with the Cai LIGHT OF ORDER. The Wind Thief stuff might have thrown that off a bit.

This is exactly what we were practicing with Wang Chao for. Might as well take advantage of it.

If you think the dress can defend from anything that could be thrown at her here then I've got a bridge to sell you.

It can and has defended against cyan and greater threats so yes she is protected against anything this group of enemies can throw at her.
"Core Disciple Jia Song, ordered us into the breach," Cai Renxiang continued as if she had not been interrupted. The Jia were still allies, they would not suffer much censure for this, nor did she wish them to. To hold a grudge such as that was not only inefficient, but the seed of the thoughts that lead any ruler to vice. "As this was a military matter. I raised a point of contention, but did not disobey commands. We descended, and confronted the retreating enemy. It was a slaughter, however, our distraction was used to strike at the Core Disciple Jia Song, and further reinforcements waited in the tunnels. There were three casualties among the Inner disciples, one of which later became a fatality. However, in the battle an enemy commander emerged. I estimate that he was of roughly framing stage in cultivation. We dueled, and I took his head," Cai Renxiang let out a careful breath. The tunnel claustrophobic and dark, lit only by her own radiance. The darting figure in the shadows, and the envenomed edge of his knives returned to her. It was good that she had practiced so against a foe of similar mobility.

"However, the enemy we faced made heavy use of sacrificial techniques. The entity that emerged from their dead was beyond me," Cai Renxiang admitted bluntly and without shame. "It was only Mother's grace which allowed us victory." Boiling black flesh and eyes beyond counting, grasping, hungry mouths gnawing at her limbs. She remembered the traces of shen, beyond the potency of any third realm technique, punching through her defenses. Most of all, she remembered the second time in her life that Liming had truly awoken, the furious spiritual scream wiping her thoughts blank as she lost control of her limbs. The first time was a faded memory, the first and only time an assassin had dared seek her life and slipped the attention of Lin Hai
Her dress saved her from a Shen using cyan monstrosity as well as an assassin good enough to slip past an indigo body guard. We haven't seen anything here that seems powerful enough to succeed where they failed and if there was only the elder would have any hope of protecting Cai from something that powerful.

That said, while I'm not worried about CRX dying, it is still a bad thing should Liming take control. CRX really hates it whenever that happens so we should limit that as much as possible

I'm just voting to tip the scales here

Reinforcements are inbound, and Renxiangs build is primarily about serving as a Commander rather than a duelist. So long as we can keep it one on one, her build should enable Renxiang to keep.the G7 in check long enough for reinforcements to arrive and the buff chain to push things over the edge against it.

What's important is preventing that interference, which forting up is explicitly about in the wording

Remember, theres still a wounded Dancer in stealth in the Caldera along with three G3 Barbarians to.try and keep Ling Qi in check

So long as she represents a threat and keeps the Starstone secure, they're not gonna be able.to.turn their backs to Ling Qi.

Not after this display just now

This chapter really shows off the durability of a cultivator.
Getting stabbed in the neck, splashed with acid, struck by lightening, frozen, smashed by blades. Kinda like your running on health bar rules and not squishy vulnerable organs.

That interlude from Jiao stabbing his father in the face eight thousand times really makes me wonder how much of a slog murder becomes at the higher ranks.

It makes me wonder just how difficult killing a white, like what Sun Shao did, is. We saw the battlefield, but we really don't know how long that fight lasted.

In this update, we just found out that starstone arrows from beyond the horizon is really fckin good sniper ammo.
I am sceptical that the cultivator killed in the opening moments was a white.

Starstone is really good sniper ammo. We also know from the cyan using a mask of it that it's possible to tinge your arts with entropic Qi. Makes it a powerful base for talismans.

iirc the one who got struck is probably from one of the dismantled former Count clans in the South, so probably Violet, or Prism at best.

Wow, what an update! I usually don't care that much about fighting scenes - but this had an appropriate level of chaos without being too confusing to follow. Anyway, time to play hardpoint.
