So uh...?

Yeah, not seeing it. Still looks like he got convinced after the Shishigui made that speech of his to alleviate the guys suspicion to me even after the White sky rep called them demons straight out.

If he wanted nothing to do with them, solidarity with the White sky wouldve provided an excellent excuse to jump off into further criticism, rather than being placated by the Shishigui themselves

And yet the Shishigui again ask for assistance and promise gifts

"We do not ask your assistance without gifts," the Shishigui barked. "We, the deep people, know what sleeps here."

"...If you have desecrated the cradle of the Twelfth, you will regret it," the more powerful cultivator grumbled.

"We know you seek the fallen stars, son of the skies," The Shishigui growled. It clapped it's hands, and the air shimmered. The center of the caldera shook with a weighty thump as a lump of prismatic stone more than ten meters wide rose from the earth as if it were water. "My people are of the deep earth. We can deliver your stars."

In light of the second request, it seems difficult to accept an argument where the Twelve Star Confederation accepted to help the Shishigui after the first request. Again, the Shishigui wouldn't push for an agreement of assistance, with enticement, if such an agreement has already been reached.

Reading into the words "we agree to an extent" that an agreement of assistance was reached seems to be way overshooting what the extent of the agreement is.

Because he wanted to sweeten the pot and get a better deal? We already went over this.

There's degrees of assistance

Lend-lease versus actually fighting alongside you, for example

And a promise of assistance later versus assistance now is another such example. One more relevant.

I'm not a fan the XCOM plan since it double-strikes the Shishigui, which yeah, we want to kill them, but it reduces the chances of the Bardbarian duel, since you know, Cyan artillery strike, high chance he gets ganked early

I wanna have a music duel with him the following updates

[X] Plan XCOM door breach:
-[X][Guan Zhi] The Shishigui representatives
-[X][CRX] The Shishigui representatives
-[X][LQ] Weaken or eliminate the forces on the rim before empowerment can begin

I believe we should steal Starstone, but not as our first response. Because the one with stone would instantly become a target for all involved. LQ is really good but not enough to easily survive multiple high level attacks at once. I think we should eliminate shishigui, so that no one can escape underground, and thin enemy forces first and steal Starstone second, it's a secondary target after all, the first one is to survive.

Priority Bonus Objective has revealed itself. Saying that its' premature to prioritize -assumes- we will get a second chance. If we do, it *will not* be a shot that has less attention then now..

The starstone of course. Its what him and his faction need on a strategic level to properly muster.
...So then why would he abandon the representative that demonstrated the ability and willingness to help them secure those resources to die ignominiously while cackling as he rides off into the sunset?

Because connecting "He wants the starstones" to "Sudden yet inevitable betrayal" seems like a really huge stretch to me

Anything else simply sacrifices any chance of getting the secondary objective secured. There is no one with better thieving skills that Ling Qi, and there's no better moment to steal it than as the first move while they get attacked by someone else
Except that we do not have any magic thieving skills that would clearly allow us to steal a giant qi disrupting rock. The best idea Ling Qi has is to try to use PLR to drag it through the dream. Will this work? Who knows! And that's before we even get to people trying to stop us.

There's degrees of assistance
But the degrees of assistance hasn't been established. It can't be argued that degrees of assistance are being discussed when a basic level of assistance does not seem to have been agreed to.

This argument basically hinges on a reading that the statement "we agree to an extent" is an agreement of assistance. That reading seems untenable.

You give such examples, but I don't see a way to prove what level of assistance this is at. Mutual defense is very different from lend lease , which is very different from looking the other way and not interfering. Why do you believe that a mutual defense agreement had been reached?

I'm pretty sure you'd have to look hard to find any such degree under that definition that doesnt include "not leaving you to die from a hostile force that I could help you overcome were I to lend my assistance literally right in front of me" as part of said assistance

I did not say she had magic thieving skills only that she had the best thieving skills out of the people on site.

[edit] Besides, that's probably not even true we, probably, do magic thieving skills:
Breeze in the Vault: C rank
(...) Greatly increases most stealth derivatives while active.

And sleight of hand is categorized as a stealth specialty.

It doesnt matter what degree.

The likliehood of them being aligned means that they're not just gonna stand back and let us kill the Shishigui unanswered right in front of them

I dont get why I have to explain this

Its genuinely baffling to me

I like all 3 of "tactics good", "epic rematch", "just shove the warpstone off into with your soul dream it'll be fine".
[X] Plan XCOM door breach
[X] Plan Bishoujo Battle: Barbarian X Bard
[X] Plan Star Stealing Shenanigans

Probably in that order but I wouldn't mind seeing either happen.
