Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
The thing about the pavilion is that so long as we do not screw up majorly, being there is better than not being there to the group's perception. And being there at first is when it is most important, if we pick it later it looks like we're only doing it begrudgingly. Which we are, but the point is to sort of act like we would if we didn't.

It's all part of the overarching game of 'we both know I don't care about you but so long as it is not obvious to a third party it's not a big deal'.
Being there is better than not being there to the group's perception, and being there from the beginning is important.... but it's not key, because we have just been spending a lot of time with them during the week already. Yeah, it was sparring, but the point here is to show we care about them as well as help Wang Chao make his relationships. We succeeded in showing we care, and going to see Wang Chao when we don't have MSS is probably a bad idea.

For basically his entire life, LQ has been helicopter parenting Zhengui. If we don't give him a chance to learn how to work through his own problems, he's never going to really learn how. And giving Zhengui chances to learn means giving him chances to fail too, and helping him fix his inevitable mistakes. At some point we're going to have to trust Zhengui, and I'd rather we start that now, in a relatively safe environment with his number 1 fan (Alingge) keeping an eye on him, then be forced into it in a higher stakes situation later.

Even if Zhengu screws this up, he'll live and learn from it. And if he manages to work this out on his own, which is absolutely a possible outcome, even better.
For basically his entire life Ling Qi has decided to let Zhengui alone whenever he asked for attention because there is a real fear from the thread about being a helicopter parent. So every single time there is a choice, the same argument comes up and almost alwyas Zhengui ends up alone, and then we have another option to learn what went on and we decide to not do anything about it, and then...

We really didn't succeed in showing care. They are scrubs who are scared of a little full contact sport, they'll more likely than not be demoralized because we kicked their asses instead of properly grateful for our help. For us to actually succeed we'll need to talk a little, send out some compliments that at least sound kind-of sincere, and maybe show that we remember their names a time or two.

Basically, I just don't think we can actually make any real social progress with anyone while Zhengui's moping along the entire time.

This vote is frustrating because I'd be happy with not talking to Alingge even a single time in it since she's not the focus. I don't want her to be the focus, and I don't want her taking up time and energy. It seems like on a recurring basis, Alingge's only narrative role is to sink our efforts at playing nice with the broader nobility, and it's exhausting. She feels shoehorned in here, and it damages her and every character around her.

I'm still voting this way because it can hopefully dispense with her relevance to the event entirely, while adjusting the social foundation involving Zhengui for the event to something a little healthier.

That's literally not true. The entire Outer Sect, Ling Qi left Zhengui basically to his own devices as it relates to socialization. We never picked a single one of the multiple options relating to Zhengui and Hanyi or Zhengui and Heizui.

Ling Qi's fault is in ignoring the kid, not helicoptering him. We're screwed if this kind of revisionist understanding takes root.

Christ alive Dirge for the Fallen Peak is amazing.

It's basically our Boss Fight Enrage Timer if only we could hit multiple people with it.
Can't we? I saw nothing indicating that we couldn't - just that we'd have to load them up one at a time.

..because Zhengui is legitimately badass, and Gui si a big part of that, and letting him get in social situations where he has people to compare himself to but Ling Qi isn't there being More Badass Than Thou to throw off his estimations might be good for the kid. Also, staying on mission.

Incidentally, I'm loving the combo between our new arts, Zhengui, and our flying sword where we set up a kill zone and then make it impossible to escape.

As another thought, interacting with Alingge is probably a good way of getting our Spirit Ken ability to upgrade.

Has that hurt him? Honestly he seemed to have picked up a fair number of friends while knowing that we are there to protect him if something bad happens. And there's nothing to stop him from spending time with us if he feels he wants our support.

Indeed that's basically what he says here: that we are powerful and that including him here is just humoring him. We have his confidence but he isn't sure of himself. Having a bunch of other people talk about how good he is will help put Ling Qi's earlier comments to him in a new context.

Uh what? The only time Zhengui was socializing on his own without Ling Qi there was toddling after Cui since he was born until he got to yellow or around the tournament arc when he went up the mountain to visit Hanyi. Every other time Ling Qi was there and he wasn't socialized much.
