"Miss Ling! Welcome. I was just discussing our program with our junior peers," Wang Chao greeted bombastically as they approached.

A few of those gathered, who were most certainly older than Ling Qi, looked mildly irritated.
"Who does she think she is, thinking we're her junior!"

"PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON US SENIOR SISTER"

Better being scary as the new guy on the pond. Since due to our background we could never be loved immediately, not without either a lot of work or freakishly high charisma, the alternatives would be being bullied (maybe lightly bullied, being made fun of behind our backs, but still), being taken advantage of and being unknown. We can work towards better social connections from a position that doesn't start us from the bottom of the totem pole, so I'll take scary thank you very much.

"Of course I was, everyone was working with new arts, that was the point," Ling Qi replied. "It's important to practice for when I have my new arts fully learned. She hadn't even gotten to her replacement for Thousand Ring Fortress yet. "You're improving your ramparts too, you've gotten much better and faster with them."

"It's important to practice for when I have my new arts fully learned."

There's a missing closing quote.

Let ZG be a little more independent, we do not need to be with them every time or they would not grow, it's natural to let him extend his own roots.
I'm leaning Wang Chao; Ling Qi has been trying hard not to be a helicopter parent and this seems like a great opportunity for Zhengui to try and do his own thing.

Also, I haven't been following the mechanics very well recently, but holy crap 1041 successes. That's just disgustingly good. Yay Darkness month!
Idk what you guys are talking about. Like, ZG had a rough time of it last turn. He had one of his dreams, a sweet adorable idea for his sister, consumed. The cultivation penalty that comes with that probs translates in the narrative as spiritual pain consider its a monster eating your dreams. We haven't really gotten to touch base with him and actually talk the whole thing through. He's our son little brother and he needs us right now. Give him space once he's feeling better.

Eh, while not completely accurate, imagine this scenario: you're a teenage boy and your mother is hanging around, pushing you to make friends.

I know how I would react.

Let's not be an helicopter parent. Ling Qi always has trouble with her child little brother Independence and is contently worried. It might be good for Zhengui to socialize on his own.

He's not really emotionally a teen yet. In terms of emotional maturity, he's younger than that....and he's clearly not okay right now.

We just tried leaving him own to socialize for the past few days and there weren't any good results.

This is our Job after all.

I am seriously digging the revealed levels of UGM and BKSD. Some nasty things in there that I am looking forward to us grabbing.

Zhengui can manage a talk on his own, I think. We trust Hanyui to come with us to noble parties, this trust should extend to Zhengui.

People who make plans, was our progress on BKSD according to plan? I felt it was on the low side but I didn't exactly do math.

Duration: Long -or- Upkeep 5

So for measly 5 qi points we can keep this on always? I think it's worth it to save "a turn" in combat - our ramping starting time is our main weakness.

I'm leaning Wang, since the job handed down to us by CRX is make friends with Wang and bring him in tighter to her circle. We can still do that even if we go pet deer and billy goats, but it IS our primary purpose and if we're on the clock I want to knock this out of the park.

Plus, being scary af frost beast witch one minute and then cheerfully serving tea will be a mind fuck for all our other sect brothers and sisters and that image tickles me.

Let zhengui be his own person. i'd rather us not be a helicopter parent.

I want to do the option that is best for Zhengui. I will keep an eye on discussion to try and figure out which way is actually best.

The way I see the vote is, Alingge's option offers little chance of failure, but a smaller boost to Zhengui's mood. While Wang's option has a much higher chance of failure, but a potentially higher boost to Zhengui's mood. I think I want the safe option for now. Though, I am open to having my mind changed.

Difficult choice right now. Ling Qi's scary showing would definitely be a good ice breaker *heh* for socials right now, but Zhengui and Alingge also has some appeal to that choice.

I think I'm leaning towards Wang Chao for now. My main reasoning being Zhengui's dream was to make a surprise garden, which not only got ruined because it got nommed, but also because we found out what exactly the dream is when Zhengui lost motivation to follow through on it.

So, I want Zhengui to be given some space to maybe possibly plan out another surprise he can make whose preparations we will be purposely turning a blind eye towards to give it maximum surprise factor.

I hope she can help speeding up Zhengui's growth. Lil bro wants to impress us, let's help him.

While I do feel like we should help Zhengui with the pain he's going through, I'm not sure we'll be doing that by pushing him to be social with other people. It's a Zhengui action, but I don't think it's the right Zhengui action.

Mmm, I'm liking UGM a lot more now. Partly I think it helps that @yrsillar actually showed us being able to use it to keep people away from us - unlike the system last year where melee would just gap-close and hit us in the face and we'd have to win the clash regardless so it felt like these things would never do anything.

Dirge also looks super amazing and synergises so well with BKSD, giving us much more of an active DoT-layering-ish style.

As it stands it seems that Zhengui is extremely dubious of his own effectiveness and feeling a little lonely. He does not want affirmation from us and has repeatedly rejected it when we have tried to give it to him.

I feel like Alingge is a big fan of Zhengui and is likely to be exactly the sort of outside perspective he needs to realize that he is better than he thinks he is. I also think that trying to directly help him will only make him feel worse. Previously we felt that he wasn't capable of helping us, but Ling Qi's inner dialogue suggests that the events of the Dream and this spar have convinced her that he is an effective partner so that's less of a concern.

the deer intrigues me

The viability of this would depend heavily on just how weakened Ling Qui is. If it works more like a DnD Simulacrum then its fine. We can leave the talking body behind and adventure with only a minor handicap. If "deeply draining" applies to both bodies though, then we get two talking bodies which are both too weak to fight equal ranks. Still very useful but only for social situations where we need to be in two places at once.

As a note, Jiao in his second interlude is babysitting a princess with one body, doing paperwork with a other, and helping An fighting a White with his primary.

Should be fine, although like anything theres probably specialization involved, and I personally believe Jiao's Way was the Emperor's Shadow or something, so he was probably REALLY good at backing up An.

And he was not a Cyan. I don't doubt that this can be done, I even think that the further in cultivation a person is, the lesser the penalties for creating simulacrum this. For those who follow spirits' path, anyway.

I just don't think we will be able to do so at Cyan without serious penalties.
