Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Come to think of it, we're cultivating HDW this month, right? Exploring the Connections of the household, and in particular the way they relate to people Ling Qi already cares deeply for, would be a suitable way for her to branch out her interest and consideration. Heck, Su Ling is apparently hanging around the household, this could be the chance for Ling Qi adopting the surly fox into her internal hugsphere officially.

I realized Su Ling is probably hanging around because she came to see Li Suyin while she was working on the formations. Something must have happened to get her to keep coming back. Maybe she got pressganged into being a babysitter. Oh, or she had a herbal remedy for some kind of illness or injury in one of the staff Lung Qi never bothered to notice. That would actually be a really poignant thing to drive home Ling Qi's inatention.

As for the order of the two events, there's a few reasons I favour checking out the family first. Striking while the iron is hot is narratively satisfying. The nature of her Domain relates to close emotional bonds with others; this is highly relevant to Hanyi and Zhengui, but essentially irrelevant to Bao Qian. Historically, things we choose first are given greater internal character weight, with second choices recieving less detail or impact. Our Domain is in no way dangerous to anyone, much less our family. That worry is basically groundless.

If you're voting for working out because you really want the family scene to be extra special, I'd remind you it's not how things have tended to work. Just look at this last update: it was in the unexpected moment when unshielded by practice that stands out as the most endearing. Ling Qi's Domain is fine, and I'd rather be around people we like when still learning to flex the new appendage than a guy maybe-courting-us and trying to get his hands on our baby brother's poop.

If you prefer that, cool, but it just seems a much less relevant crowd to follow in the wake of this update.

This is persuasive, but it's the staff I want to avoid spooking. If we awaken our domain to give our family hugs, there is now a mist all over the place which we need practice in keeping from slipping out as far as it goes:
"It is good that your efforts have borne fruit," Cai Renxiang said mildly, briefly glancing around. "However, please reign yourself in. You are leaking."

Ling Qi blinked and flushed slightly in embarrassment. Cai renxiang was right, leaving the open door aside, the sealing on the room was imperfect and she could feel streamers of herself leaking through the cracks into the rest of the house. With a feeling like sucking in her stomach, the mist shrank condensing into the area right around her and Cai.
And, as people we don't care much about, our Mist will be... not an especially pleasant experience for them.

Allies, even distant ones merely feel cool though?

[X] Family Ties (Qingge, Biyu, Household, Su Ling)

The general sentiment seems to be that we should make absolutely sure we have our domain under control before being around our family, but I kinda disagree. Ling Qi's issues have had a large component of being distant/reserved and not connecting to her family or showing her emotions. Also, Ling Qi is kinda embarrassed by her domain right now so if we want LQ to spiritually hug her family at all then it's pretty much going to have to happen by accident.

Plus, it'd be kinda awkward to ask the guy courting us for help keeping our domain from leaking out and hugging our close friends only for our domain to leak out and basically just be a peaceful Bond 0 fog. Like, that's a really cold way to find out that someone just doesn't care all that much about you.

The staff are a large reason to put this first. When it comes to narrative importance, they are the least important, so their element of the story is most likely to get dropped if we placed it second.

And quite frankly it might be better if we accidentally spook them, and then apologize vs continuing to ignore them. This would actually change the status quo where Ling Qi barely sees them as better than furniture.

And let's not forget that ling qi will be trying much harder when their are mortals around anyway to keep it all in.

What season are we in? Is it summer? One nice thing about Ling Qi's mist going all over the house, as far as the staff might be concerned: air conditioning!

I was leaning work but frankly house-hold hugging sounds like maximum diabeties for everyone and I am a sucker for it!

This is an extremely reasonable concern. I think Ling Qi will have, if nothing else, the range of her Domain under control though. It's the first thing she started trying to get a grip on, and even mostly succeeded. The Ling Qi chibi mist ghost was a... different kind of slip.

Because she's not 100% in control yet, and due to the nature of her Domain putting family in a special place, I think it's unlikely that she will unleash it when servants might be in the AoE. It's not for them, so she'd actually pay attention to their presence or absence for once.

This is even assuming she releases the mists at all, which she may very well not. It's the themes that back her Domain that are more important here anyway.

Good enough for me.

[X] Work Out (Zhengui, Hanyi, Bao Qian)

I would like to see Hanyi get some screen time to level up. She should be one of our closest relationships, as an adopted little sister, but I feel like we've infantilized her a bit since her legs were injured. I'd like to see her get back towards independent action- the Sprite we had a devil of a time catching when we played.
