[X][Zhengui] Blazing Blood

Looks like Ling Qi will have an interesting conversation with Six soon. Although I do hope they stay, Six has the best commentary.

Thought: Have we ever seriously considered what Six does/how she would fit into our build?
Because Six went from 'social aid' to 'debuff cleanser' and seems to be moving in the direction of being the team healer/minder, since Ling Qi...Doesn't really have anything in the direction of recovery.
Maybe some of TRF can do protective stuff in the direction of false/bonus HP but that's not the same thing as healing.
I can understand WHY healing wouldn't be popular but I suspect it might not be a bad idea to learn a little. Can't always depend on running to the healers now.

You know, I wonder Yanmei's extreme sun cleansing LQ also harmed Six? I mean LQs whole body was practically flooded with Sun qi and Six is a Dreaming Moon spirit so...

Nooooooo not our imaginary friendo that exist as only a voice in our head (and in the wind)!

I lost my ability to discord again so I'm moving what I wanted to say there here.

So! This domain conflict is super delicious because generally when something happens that causes a character to reexamine their worldview and amend their behavior, they get to change. We call this 'character development'. In this particular context though, character development is only allowed to bend so far: a monster does not become a good man, and Ling Qi will still seek the path of thorns if on it lies something of beauty and value. This is a 'Way.'

The current conflict with her Way stems from her FVM insight 'Though a path might be hard and lonely, it has worth if you can present something of beauty to those you care for at the end.' and her advanced insight which boils down to 'a family is made up of members with their own thoughts and feelings.'

You've heard the expression, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder?' Well, with these two insights operating in tandem, Ling Qi has just realized that what she considers beautiful (saving Xiulan using self-sacrifice (a hard and lonely road)) everyone else in her family considers scary and horrible. It is self-sacrifice taken to the level of self-indulgence. No one who loves you wants to see you hurt yourself for their sake.

But because of her insight, that is exactly what Ling Qi is primed to do. This is literally a part of who she is. She can't stop doing this. If she does, she loses her Way.

So, the challenge becomes reconciling FVM's insight with the rest of who she is.

I'm not sure how this will be done. I'm interested to see how people would seek to do it though. Defining beauty, perhaps? Redefining lonely? Redefining family? There are plenty of ways, just nothing that leaps out as a quick fix.

I don't think FVM is the source of the conflict. The use of might kind of rules that out, well that and a "hard" path and a "lonely" path don't really have much to do with each other; there can be a "hard" path, a "lonely" path, and a "hard and lonely" path.

I really think it's the conflict between SCS's insight to avoid stagnation and the advanced insight about family are the conflict, especially since once Ling Qi reaffirmed her need to keep growing stronger (i.e. moving forward) the pain of the domain conflict eased.

Further, I really think this will be a pretty easy fix, since the entire conflict is Ling Qi essentially running out of room to run ahead of those connections she's made, and the strain will only get worse if she continues trying to move forward alone. At which point the answer writes itself, push those connections ahead of her, and Songseeker's ceremony incentivizes that through the bonus successes for teaching music.

[X][Zhengui] Verdant Ash Duality

Re: Zhengui's Arts - The last two major art upgrades/ability developments on Zhengui's part have been the Blazing Blood and Blooming From Ash trees, specifically the artillery-like Volcanic Shot and the Paradise X techs to help CC swarms. Those arts have had their time in the limelight to be improved, but VAD hasn't really and we should probably make sure it isn't lagging behind. I mean, someone made a comment about how Blazing Blood and Blooming Ash had powerful techniques while VAD seemed kinda underwhelming in comparison - which is itself a warning sign that we've been neglecting it a little.

So next month who wants to master Harmony of the Dancing Wind in order to fish for insights regarding long distance relationships?

According to plans made by math cabals, we have no room for HDW until turn 9 (we're currently at turn 7, next turn is turn 8, also known as Darkness Month meaning the arts trained are Dark elements)

Blazing blood's kit seems the most complementary to Ling Qi, with the obscuring of Ashfall and the damage effects, and I've been convinced by the commentary about LWM's ability to disrupt enemy formations.
