Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I don't see how a floating ribbon or some gaudy bling on her hands is in any way or form fitting for Ling Qi's image.

The argument holds even less weight when you realise that imperial concubines wore things like this:

Which is decidedly more gauche than the examples I posted.

On one hand that's awful and utterly useless for a flute player. On the other... Claws. It's a terrible idea and will never see combat application, but on the other hand as soon as the real xianxia protagonist enter the story in a few centuries the audience will instantly be able to tell that we're the villains when Cai Renxiang shows up with a giant armored dude and an arrogant woman with a clawed hand.

Thank goodness for approval voting.

*mulls*...Pibo I slightly have a personal association with goodness/purity/divinity/virginity that doesn't WORK for Ling Qi, in many ways. And as a result, as neat as it was to learn about that note of fashion I'm stuck with the Hand Jewelry, though a part of me wants to get more Talismans within the same slot that appeals to different responsibilities we'll have, so that instead of just being like 'lemme run around in my best gear 24/7' we have enough of a sideboard to go 'alright, time to talk to the minister, let me wear my red shoes of Socializing instead of my black boots of Oppressing.' I suspect that never really feeling free for 'luxury' choices like that is a major reason why Ling Qi does not fashion-she didn't have the time or means to do it with her arts, she didn't have the resources to comission talismans for fashion, and thus she has a wardrobe that would make her peers weep.

Glad to see a bit of discussion going. Abeologos is correct though, if you would like spiritual defense, please vote for either avoid or armor, so I don't have to guess.

Upon further thought, I don't want to make our outfit even more complicated than it already is.

Good thing I wasn't advocating for claws then!

If you look at the examples in my original post, guess what? None of the nail protector bullshit. It was a counterexample to a long series of contrived arguments against my original examples, not actually something I would suggest actually wearing.
