Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

He isn't hoarding anything dude. He made art and a lot of it and used it on what he wanted. He isn't hoarding anything that belongs to the group. You can be the guy who makes a lot of extra fan material and gives everyone the choice of what to use it on but it isn't fair to force someone else to make that choice.
I dunno. It can be interesting if the player character the thread want is different to the player character the the one that creates the fan art wants.

Like an ninja who focus on martial arts that dislikes illusions regardless of how skilled/talented he is at them. Someone who prefer what real over what fake. It would also create an struggle within the thread just like what going on inside the character head. Martial arts even tho they just normal cause that what the thread players want over illusions that the fan art creator wants.

No matter how skilled or talented the fan artist is, his vote only counts as 1.

it not the first time an quest or a character in a role playing game sabotage themselves for a better experience. However it suggested only for experience role players and considering that this isn't played by one person but a group over a single character...yeah.

[X] You'll tell her that she just got a poor draw. She needs to stick this out, and she can find a sensei that's right for her. Special Jonin are always looking for new talent to groom and you know Yui can get an apprenticeship somewhere!
-[X] And there's nothing wrong with specialization. Gai-sensei has been quadrupling down on Taijutsu since he was in the academy, and if nothing else his ability as a combat ninja is beyond question.

-[X] There's nothing wrong with specialization, but if she does want to shore up other areas that's a good idea too. She should keep looking for other opportunities, because they are out there, while trying to improve and make herself the best candidate she can. The key is not to give up.

Going with a slightly different write-in. The jounin-sensei probably had a point in regards to being overly specialized, especially as genin.

I'm sure it was all Ren's fault!

That's a good point. I suppose I went with a different write-in because Yui seems to have enough common sense that she knows she needs to be good at fundamentals (like Taijutsu and chakra control) in order for her specialty to have a solid foundation. And if she wasn't fully accepting of that before, the harsh shock of rejection seems as if it should have made her aware of it now.

So, voting for focusing on supporting her goal instead of giving a more supportive take on what an intelligent jounin (she is a Nara) already made extremely clear to her.

If I remember correctly, Yui enjoyed the kawarimi because it allowed her to be 'somewhere else'. In the sense that it was freeing. While that's obviously too narrow a focus, a movement/disguise/deception emphasized specialty seems highly practical. And once she receives instruction outside the academy, techniques (aside from the academy three) that allow her to start building such a style should be available to her.

IT'S ALIVE!

Also it's the mark of a good story when I can still remember everything about the characters even after months of no updates.

Memories of the Captain
Long ago, in a world far away that was nothing like this one, there was a Pirate with an angry glare, a vicious temper, and impeccable fashion sense. We remember him.
Unlock Condition: ???
Reward: ???
Status: LOCKED

Looking back, this could mean that once unlocked, we can join the Black Suit Pirates, in a real cool One Piece Crossover once we die.

Then it isn't fair to all voters. This one person has more power than all other voters because he spams some art. It means that everyone else who isn't a creator is less important to the quest than a single guy. You can't expect everyone else to make art just to be even footing on a single dude who imposes his choices regardless of what the majority want.

The worst part is that his rewards are outside the purview of the quest. It took multiple votes on different chapters to get the training and skills of what the majority want but a single dude has more power than that because he spams art whenever he gets the chance.

I mean, that person has spent dozens of hours to produce all of the artwork they have for the quest. More effort = More influence on the character, which sounds fair. And on top of that, its not like Daisuke swapped to being Genjutsu only or something once we got Elite Genjutsu up. He's still a Sword and punch dude main, with using Genjutsu to support that, so I really don't see how this a massive influence on Daisuke like you are saying.

you know i feel a the following quote should be used in the next chapter

"I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times."

I think the quote is attributed to Bruce Lee but not too sure.

Are you kidding me? You make it sound like Katsuragi is suddenly removing XP from the choices made from the votes. As if the choices we made suddenly doesn't matter to the narrative. Geez, literally all Katsuragi is doing is just adding more tools to our toolkit of his own good will. He isn't changing the character. Just cause our genjutsu skill is high doesnt make Daisuke any less of a sword nerd than we wanted him to be. Hell our genjutsu is a sword based one.

Truthfully he does have more power than the rest of the players. But he is also putting more effort into this quest then any of the rest of us, barring Ves. And perhaps most importantly, he is doing it in a way sanctioned by the way this quest and many others, both on this board and on others. Unless you enjoy shouting into the wind about how all of questing is flawed, you are doing nothing but wasting both our time and your own.

[] You tell her how stupid her Sensei is. This is an outrage! Yui's ten times more qualified to be a shinobi than half your class will ever be! You're going to take this up with your sensei, and then go even higher if you have to!
The sentiment is nice. However this seems like a path that would go nowhere fast. Complaining about the the Sensei will likely result in them just shrugging their shoulders and saying tough luck.

[] You'll tell her that there are other ways to be a shinobi even if she's failed the genin squad exam. She can still show her skills! Maybe she could be a med-nin, or join the corps! She's not out of options by any means.
Either this one or the one below.

[] You'll tell her that she just got a poor draw. She needs to stick this out, and she can find a sensei that's right for her. Special Jonin are always looking for new talent to groom and you know Yui can get an apprenticeship somewhere!
Of the two, this seems to be a better fit. Having your own Sensei is also a bit more prestigious than being part of the corps or a med-nin I think.

Hopefully she can find a teacher. Honestly, I'm not that worried. Yui is impressive enough and there are enough Jounin around that wouldn't mind teaching. All she needs is a little nudging in the right direction from us and I'm sure she will impress someone soon.

As for the Gai vote and saying that there is nothing wrong with specialization, that doesn't really make sense. Gai isn't a one trick pony. He has more than taijutsu to fall back on. He is at least average at the other ninja arts, so we can't really say that Guy specialized to the point that he neglected the other fields. He is a decently well rounded ninja with a focus on taijutsu. Unless we are trying to convince her that she needs to work on her other skills, drawing a comparison to Gai doesn't really connect.
