I hadn't thought of SUDDENLY ROBOTS would look with Atlas being a thing, as such changing vote to

[X] Inform James Ironwood of what just happened, but don't try to twist his arm. He's likely going to want to control the information anyway- maybe not a full coverup, but making sure public opinion doesn't turn against AIs is something we both want.
[X] Another Option- ... James Ironwood is a prick, but he's a useful prick, who wants to work with you, and has plenty of reason to think you won't. Twisting his arm for a favour... risky, and you'd rather owe Torchwick a favour rather than this guy, but there's no coverup like an Atlesian military coverup. (This is essentially Not Yet but with danger rolls for spice, and a chance to regain some anonymity to grow the Process in before going public.)

...We are literally voting on whether or not Bracket informs Juane about the info spreading online or not. And indirectly if we want to use Weiss's or James Ironwood's publicity team.

I know. I'm saying if it was actually that urgent, there wouldn't be a vote on it. We aren't fixing this, not tonight, and worrying about it isn't gonna do anything. This is most assuredly Future Jaune's problem. Present Jaune's already got the aftermath of an assassination attempt to deal with. The only thing that people know is that someone, somewhere, has advanced robots. Stepping up and claiming them might well shoot us in the foot. Best to act like it isn't important, because it isn't actually important, as far as anyone else knows.

People don't freak when Schnees summon Grimm. The Process aren't Grimm and I'd like to think we're more approachable than Winter Schnee. This is actually our Semblance, and it's haxtastic, but it's still a Semblance at the end of the day, and thus not worth panicking over exposing.

Being 100% fair, the fact that you have a choice at all does imply you feel you have some leeway in the matter.

But eh, what do I know? I dunno what the QM's thinking, that guy's an asshole.

People don't freak when Schnees summon Grimm.
I'd just like to note that canonically the one time a Schnee summoned Grimm in public, people lost their minds.

Like, everything else you've said is entirely fair and worth considering, but the one example we have of a Schnee summoning Grimm in public did end up causing massive panic.

Just saying.

Weiss almost murdered a civilian.

Winter got away with calling an honest to God flock of baby Nevermore in the middle of the Vytal Festival and nobody gave a shit.

... I'll be honest, yeah, I completely forgot about that, fair point.

Also, looking at the votes, I have a mild dilemma.

So, the problem is with the way the votes are set out, and how the tally options interact with them- if I were to go by line, as I usually do for single-option votes, I would end up with a much closer vote, 27/20, a win for Not Yet, bar the fact that the people opting for a softer approach to Ironwood are basically voting to do the things I've already clarified in a second post, like... do I count them in there too? Because that makes it 27/29, which is a win for informing Ironwood.

On the other hand, if I account for the fact that some votes have multiple parts and don't split them at all, we end up with 24/13, which is worlds away.

Essentially- do I go with the option that aggregates as many options as possible, leaving those who want more nuanced options in the dust, but giving the second largest a much fairer chance of winning, OR, do I not split them at all, respecting the more nuanced options, but all but guaranteeing the leader's victory?

I personally lean towards what the most people actually want, but I'm also the kind of person who can't see the nuance is lots of slightly different write-in votes.

As for how to tally, I'd say it should definitely be by line -- a lot of those nasty vote blocks are people voting for "anything but Not Yet"

There's also the option of leaving it open until you need to start writing parts that are affected by it, since both of the leading options involve not telling Jaune (with one sitting around and ignoring things, and the other passing the buck off to Ironwood before ignoring things)

As far as I can tell, there are 27 votes for Not Yet and 23 voters for any of the other options. I'd aggregate my writein into the other Ironwood option, adding in Yes doesn't change much.

There's only one voter for actual "yes", all the other yes votes are approval votes.

What are approval votes, exactly? That's not a term I've come by before.

Anyway, voting is closed, and by either metric, Not Yet wins!

Jaune gets to relax. Finally.

[X] Yes- regardless of everything else, this should be probably be taken into consideration when planning your next move with the Process. Like, no matter how you want to cut it, Jaune's going to find out anyway. You might as well nip it in the bud.

Approval voting. Basically voting for multiple options at once. Much better system than FPTP, where you get tons of problems with strategic voting where you often can't support your preferred option due to the spoiler effect.
Oh! Yes, this is sounding a little more familiar now.

It definitely sounds like less of a ballache than runoff voting, but it's also, uh, maybe two years too late to implement.

Maybe in the next quest.

So I know we voted for bedrock assimilation rather than PA, but the idea of an actual pokedex type unit still makes quite a bit of sense. And a pokedex like device is essentially a PA anyways.
We aren't actually locked out of doing that, are we?
Well no, you're not locked out of doing anything, but that's what the Process is focusing on until you have a chance to, you know, do something else with it. I'll probably make Process choices part of the weekly vote, even though Beacon's gonna throw that into chaos as well, but, I'll manage.

I imagine, eventually, the personal assistant option's promise of a Process sidestory will tempt enough people into choosing it either way.

Literally the only reason I think Bedrock was the way to go in the beginning is that once there is a solid bed of Processed material somewhere nobody can get to it, there's no feasible way to destroy the Process. Sure, accessing the Processed bedrock is a pain, but we don't need to access it physically, it just needs to be there, sort of an underground Tree Diagram for us to offload whatever things we need to offload into a bed of quantum mesh.

You're not sure what concerns you more- that that's a thing that happens, or that learning to play chess of all things is what does it.

{It is only a week old. Little Green was developed for seven years before it could beat a world champion, and even then, that was just one game. It's already beat you 114 times out of 300, and it's been learning for three hours.}

Huuuuh. I missed this on my first read-through. Jaune played 300 games of chess in 3 hours? That's 36 seconds per game.

Which... might actually be possible, assuming that his math semblance gives him superhuman insight into the game, and that he's using something like {Turn} lite to mess with his perception of time.

It definitely sounds like less of a ballache than runoff voting, but it's also, uh, maybe two years too late to implement.
I mean, it's already basically implemented as long as you tally by line. In retrospect it's basically just a formalization of the vote combining you've been doing manually though, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Anyway, let's hope procrastination finally pays off!

Interlude- The Night They Won't Remember
Proper update tomorrow.

Oh Brothers how drunk were you

Oh Brothers how drunk was Weiss

Where did you go after you left the nightclub?

Somewhere cool. A gentle breeze around you both as you stared out at the stars. Pretty, even with the city lights dimming them down so much. You take a sip from one of the cans of shit beer you two grabbed before coming up here. You absolutely hated the stuff, you quickly decided, but you were also too drunk to care.

Weiss seems to like it, though. You can only imagine that growing up in Atlas has frozen her tastebuds off.

You think… you want… to say something. You know you want to say something to her. It's… right, there, in front of you, just, spelt out, but your tongue feels like lead, there's no way you'll be able to say all that.

"S-sh-sho, 've you ever, uh…" You started, trying to cherry-pick your words to get your meaning across. "Y'know, just, frozen up."

"Fro-urp- pardon me, frozen up?"

"Yeah, like, frozen up on stage. It's just, I can't, I can't imagine singing to a crowd of people… a tenth the size of the ones you do. Just… whashit like singing to that many people?"

Weiss took another sip from her can, and for a moment you swore the gentle ruddiness of her cheeks only deepened in the blue-green glow of your sword.

"What, like, like s-stage fright?" She managed after a few moments of very hard thinking.

"Yeah, stage fright!"

God, when she giggled at that, you think your heart skipped a beat.

"You know, I actually thought I would, the first time I w-was supposed to, to sing in front of an audience. But, once I got up there, and r-uh, realised I had the… the attention of, of more people than I'll ever meet, that they were there to see me give them my best, and I knew I had them in the palm of my hand…"

She looked to the sky for a moment, a lazy little smile creeping up her face.

"... God help me, I don't think I could sing off-key if I tried."

Mm. You almost consider telling her you sing on occasion, but decide against it after a moment, figuring it's a little self-centred, maybe, probably.

"Wait, you sing?" Weiss asks as a big, curious grin slipped onto her face.

you didn't say that with your brain voice Jaune

"I can sing, I just- I choose, not to." You tell her, sounding a tiny bit surlier than you initially intended. Suppressing a wince, you elaborate. "... 'don't really like attention. It's… not for me."

Not for you, said the man probably caught on camera controlling the things that put down a terrorist attack earlier. Yep, attention isn't for you. Definitely.

… Fuck, you're going to have to deal with that at some point.

Instead of dealing with that, you drank more shit beer- dammit, it's empty.

"You for the last can?"

"Nah, t-take it. I'm… good, for now." Weiss mumbles, sounding somewhere between nauseous and very sleepy.

As you took the last can, popping it open with an Aura-protected fingernail, you froze a little as Weiss suddenly leant against you, resting her head on your shoulder. Through the fabric of your shirt, you can feel the heat of her cheek, the gentle pressure of another human being quite literally using you to support herself.

To sum up your thoughts on the subject:

uh oh physical contact with pretty girl what do

"... Could you… sing something for me?" Weiss sort of half asks you, half mumbles into your shoulder.

To sum up your thoughts on the subject:

UH OH PRETTY GIRL ASKING YOU TO DO SOMETHING WHAT DO

As if answering your silent question, your sword, little shit that it is, started playing music in your brain.

… Well, that's that decision made.

Some part of your currently pickled mind recognises the song and throws the lyrics at you as best it can, and, picking up the beat, you try your best to not butcher it.

"Time, has a way… of putting, broken pieces back in place… but never quite how you arrange..."

|||

The sun was coming up. What time was it, anyway?

4 am? Really?

Weiss was almost definitely asleep on your shoulder, grabbing a little rest after a long day, and leaving you to your thoughts.

The drunkenness had somewhat let up, replaced by tiredness, and as the sky lightened, your eyes fell to the moon, still hanging around even now.

All 700,000-something pieces of it.

Not that you could see most of them. Its cycle was such that it had the illusion of wholeness tonight. And for the next few nights. And then, slowly, but surely, the illusion will…

Shatter.

Broken world. Broken moon.

How fitting.

Unbidden, you felt a sneer of all things crawl up your face, looking out at a broken land full of broken things, their very existence... disgusting you, in some way.

Not for long, though. Not if you have anything to say about it.

"... Weiss?"

"Mm?" She mumbles, still half-asleep.

"... Do you ever wonder what the moon would look like, unshattered?"

"Mm… s'metimes…"

"... Do you want to see it like that, someday?"

"'dbe nice, s'ppose… dunno how it'd happen, though..."

"... Then it's a promise."

"Y'wha?"

"I'm gonna fix the moon for you."

"... Oh."

You felt her lift her head off your shoulder and saw her staring at you when you looked over, an emotion you couldn't quite place in her eyes.

"... You really mean that, don't you?"

"Of course I do. I just promised you I'd do it, didn't I?"

That draws a laugh from her for reasons you can't entirely understand.

"You're... an odd man, Jaune."

She rests her head on your shoulder again.

"But at least you're comfy."

… You'll take that.

Very Waiff. Looking forwards to tomorrow. Also:

"... Do you ever wonder what the moon would look like, unshattered?"
Bolded is missing

Well... these two work really well together like this. I'll support future Weiss interaction votes.

Kinda feel like when we can (and do) fix the moon we'll have won at that point.
