By that logic no one should attempt self-improvement since that too is part of Slaanesh' domain. It is impossible to fully avoid the Dark Gods' domains. The best you can do is apply moderation.
Easy ways to more power in wh40k tend to end badly however. Training for decades to achieve mastery is much more accepted under warp laws.

I would not call having to craft and refine a warp based drug (on a state level) and risking permanent mental scars (on an individual level) easy, at lest not any more than the Mechanicus improving themselves with cybernetics is easy, or for an example even closer to home using the rune of focus to improve psyker powers that too is a tool that makes psykers hit harder.

I'm glad technomancy is more of a thing in this wh40k-AU....it never really made much sense to me that dispite the admech being a reiligous orgianization spanning the entire galalcy for thousands of years and followed by billions and trillians woulden't have some kind of psykic/warp-related effect on human tech.

I wonder how much of the imperiums remaining tech functions simply because of admech-faith.

The Adeptus Mechanicus is ideologically opposed to psychic powers. It makes sense why they wouldn't have tech psykers.

It did, the existence of Machine spirits which the tech then used to validate the very cargo cult that spawned them.
I have been told that those are nothing more then a combination of the AI that the admech use all the time partially without knowing (they are not full AI), and the usual delusions that come from a ultra-fanatical hyper religion (IE: contrubuting a machine as breaking down due to a angry spririt actually being because a 1 got mis-placed somwhere in the code).

There is definitely something Warp-y going on on some of the more advanced pieces of tech from what we see in canon, though it's anyone's guess how far it goes.

So I'm the only one to notice that 11 is in fact a sacred number? This looked like a clear act of malice and self destructive stupid to me.

Add it coming with the suddenly infinite Tyranids and this is just expected.

Interview with a Monster
Very deep thoughts there.
Makes me curious about what Lin would think of Pratchettian philosophy.

Well, that's assuming it needs alkahestry. If we can make our product with mycenid biochemistry alone, it should be something we can use our Biologis actions on instead.
Not a fan of turning our biologis action away from the Avernus wildlife.

A reminder that Signe lasted 135 years in-game, which is more than third of entire existence of Avernus, and a year and a half real-time, which is about a third of lifespan of the quest. Our administrators don't die left and right, please don't act like they do.
Ruler: 1.
Intrigue: 1.
Diplomacy: 1.
Martial: 2.
- Void: 2.
Piety: 2.
Learning: 2, 1, 3.
- Telepathica: 1, 1, 1, 1, (1).
Admin: 5.
- more if you count the personal assistants who didn't live to inherit the main admin job.

They might not die terribly often in terms of timeline, in or out of universe. However compared to all our other positions admin is a deathtrap with a frightening turnover.

To be fair losing Admin characters don't really hurt anywhere as near as much as losing other characters. Signe's utility to us sharply dropped after the tech trade, it's like her guard lowered the moment she felt our debt was in a safe position.

depends on what you mean by "hurting" the lack of high level administrators certainly hurts in my estimation. I've been wondering since I started reading this quest what in the world a paragon administrator could do. And so far we've not come close. Its quite sad.

New omake. Also while you are here:
1 Is there a reason you haven't threadmarked this omake?

Items From Undermountain

There are many wondrous things in the Caverns of Avernus. Things if immense power and incalculable value. Things worth near certain death to acquire. Recorded her are a few examples:

Fission Blade – A one-handed sword with simple bone and skull engravings carved into the handle and guard. The blade is of infinite sharpness, beyond any currently available measuring device. When swung the edge is surrounded by a blue glow which has been determined to be caused by atoms in the atmosphere undergoing fission. Physical armour is, obviously, penetrated effortlessly. Disappointingly this weapons seem unable to harm or even interact with demons or other 'immortal' beings. Found as a whole piece in the Caverns. Currently owned by Mortimer Sto Helit, professional Caver.

Amalthea Cloak Of Interdiction – A silver-white pelt from an unidentified creature. This cloak prevents all forms of teleportation within a small area around itself. Created by applying certain Alkahestry preservatives to the harvested creature before killing it, allowing a portion of its power to persist after death. Currently owned by Christopher Haggard who uses it as a blanket in his daughter's nursery.

Right Eye Of Foresight – An ornate monocle inscribed with several unknown runes. When worn it grant precognition of events one minute in future. Part of a set made by Cassandra Delphi who claimed to have slain a 'big multiheaded snake thing' and taken its eyes to the Sirens, paying them to 'make something useful.' Currently owned by Cris Johnson, Grandmaster Psyker Hunter.

Left Eye Of Hindsight – A small ornate mirror inscribed with several unknown runes. Looking into this mirror causes the user to experience the thoughts and feelings of an alternate version of themselves, such as a 'them' who chose a different career or who made their home in a different city. The last privet owner, one Thomas Calvert, committed suicide-by-Siren after experiencing a life in which he fell to Chaos. Use of this item has been restricted by order of the Inquisition.

Lance Of Shadow And Flame – A two-handed spear of unique design. The shaft is composed of unworked wood clearly taken from some form of tree. It is pitch black in colour and constantly 'leaks' black smoke. The blade is a crystal seeming to contain flowing lava. Growths of crystal have worked their way down the wooden shaft. Runs of Fire and Wind have been applied to the blade and shaft. The lance is a potent force weapon and psychic focus. Currently owned by Gerald Xavier, Grandmaster Psyker.

"I cannot believe you just went out and bought a relic."

"I didn't buy a relic, I bought high quality materials then hired experts to help me make a relic. Which is a lot more than you did. I haven't seen the paperwork but I doubt Granalf hammered that lump of truesteel into shape for free."

There was a brief pause in the conversation as the cousins continued trying to kill each other. In good natured fashion of course, were this more than a friendly spar Gerald would never dream of letting Jacob within swords reach any more than Champion Oakheart would dream of letting the Ash Hound know they were fighting before he struck.

"At least I went out and got the stuff myself. You're the one that talked my ear off about all that 'rules of cost and narrative' stuff."

"Laws of Cost and Narrative you muscle bound thug. We can't all wonder down the caverns in our copious free time. Some of us have actual work to do."

Xavier back-pedalled desperately. The extra reach from his new lance helped but against Jacob it didn't make much of a difference.

"Ha! Why do you think I went champion rather than officer?"

A moment later it was over. Jacob's blade resting lightly against his opponent's throat. With a nod the two broke apart.

"It is going to take you years to get used to that thing."

"Maybe but it already feels more natural than the swords ever did. And it isn't like melee is the core of my style. Worst come to worst Mittens gets to sharpen her claws more often for a while."

"Where is your better half anyway? He normally likes to watch me toss you around the ring."

"Oh he is busy stealing food out of your pack."

"What!?"

As the greatest warrior on Avernus took off in pursuit of the delinquent tiger Xavier couldn't help but smile. There were few joys like family.

AN: Sabers, Assassins, Casters? Those we have in abundance. Archers, Riders? Some options for each. Berserkers? Viktor Mineyev stands ready. Lancers? Nope.
Also, digital cookies to anyone who gets all the references.
Also also, given how close their parents are I figure Gerald and Jacob must know one another pretty well. Thought we should have some more omakes with the two interacting.

Really? Really?
None of the site's emojis really give the "flat stare" vibe I want.

Mittens is male.

Just... the references. They're too much. It pales before the Unseen University and Ridcully, but still. Some things demand a flat stare of disbelief.
Ehhh

Mortimer Sto Helit, professional Caver.
Discworld
Harry Potter?
No idea.
Worm.

Yeah I see some of em now.

Discworld, Mort, the sword Death keeps for kings.

Cassandra is a seer, Delphi references Oracle of Delphi, snakes/dragons are a ref to the way Apollo claimed the Oracle of Delphi. Cris Johnson is a Next reference.

Worm reference. Also a bit like gold Allomancy from Mistborn series.

Okay so Khorne now has a summonable avatar. Slaanesh now has all of Vect's Dark Eldar and if Vect isn't Slaanesh' highest Daemon Prince I will be surprised. Tzeentch is still working on being born. I don't know what Nurgle is doing. I also don't know what upgrades the Abomination can get. Maybe the endgame upgrade for every Chaos god is to get a summonable avatar? I really don't know.

Info from discord: The Eldar are interested in having Ridcully go into Khorne's Realm and have a look at his new Avatar, and paying us for it. Doing this would both help the Eldar and allies deal with the new Avatar, and hopefully give Rids another shot at Transcendence, so I think we should do it.

Think we could repeat what we did with the Abomination's realm, and have Lin and Xavier go with him?
