Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
That's preeeeetty harsh. No one here is arguing for *ignoring* our family. They do regularly get screen time, in fact, the latest events were explicitly about them. That is the 'status quo'.
And I honestly feel that is fine. This story/quest shouldn't be all about Ling Qi and her family, nor should it be all about Ling Qi sitting in a cave and cultivating face punching. I honestly feel the current balance is good, even if I would certainly like to see even more events and screen time for a lot of people. Meizhen, Renxiang, Xiulan... just about everyone of our friends. Biyu and Qingge included. But Yrs's writing time is limited, and story bloat is a thing, too. So I am not comfortable with the interpretation that spending the AP means guaranteed Family scenes. It needs to fit the story and narrative.

That is not 'ignoring' anyone.

We HAVE just had it pointed out recently that the status quo is pretty bad actually. How well do we live our Way when we aren't willing to make real sacrifices for it?

[X] In the future, devote more time to your household and your family. (-1AP in future turns)

Because if we are going for a Home Domain, then spending time with our family, which includes our spirits, seems like a good idea to avoid getting stuck in our cultivation, because Cai Renxiang expects us to make a clan, and because I personally want to see Biyu have all the advantages we can give her in order for her to bee on par with other noble scions of her generation.

But we... addressed that problem, and changed it? The problem was not spending too little time with our family, but 'talking' to them too little. About actual, meaningful stuff, or our problems and challenges. And Ling Qi resolved to change that for the future (and already did, in the latest updates) completely disconnected from this vote. Our relationship with Qingge already did increase, in part to represent that. It won't suddenly degrade just because of this vote or anything like that.

We had Insights, and addressed them and had them influence our Way. That is stuff that happened. This vote is about future things, our Way, family and friends. I am fine with Ling Qi paying attention to her family. Which she already does. I don't want her to focus too much on it and make the story *all* about them. Which, to be fair, this vote wouldn't, but you see were I am going with this, yeah?

As much as I like Qingge and Biyu, losing a dozen AP will be a serious handicap for Shenzua double layers mission for the end of the Inner Sect Arc.

@yrsillar : Can you tell us what cultivation technique mom used up to here, and what (if different) she'll use hence-forth ?

so, any idea in which moon patron we are questing for this month? It seems like mother moon might appreciate this decision.

If you have a Way you need to make sacrifices to follow that Way.

I really wanted dreaming moon, but if we decide to spend more time with our family, we'll probably end up with mother moon.

Dammit, status quo is starting to look more appealing

Ling Qi's way is shaping up to be about having a home, protecting it and providing for it. A home shouldn't be empty, by any means. But it also doesn't need to be only filled with family. Friends have a place there, too. To a degree, this vote is about prioritizing our family right now with our responsibilities towards our friends. It's a sacrifice either way, I believe. But I do think that our friends need our efforts right now more, since the time in the Sect is fairly critical even without Shenhua's goals.

Qingge, especially after her Awakening, and Biyu seem in a good spot to me and thus less in need of extra attention right now.

Yeah, good point. Mother moon isn't the one I'd like her to have as primary. Dreaming followed by Grinning. She's always been about freedom and she's adding creativity.

"[] Adhere to your Way, even at a small personal cost"
"[] Prioritize earthly matters"

That's the vote, so why is there any momentum toward the latter choice? Disappointing Shenhua is bad, but directly damaging your odds of reaching Indigo or Violet (let alone Prism or White!) is worse by very many orders of magnitude. If you're going to play, play to win the actual game.

Nope, Dreaming Moon all the way. If given a chance, Mother Moon can come later.

@yrsillar would choosing the "spending with family" option give us auto-events that help both Qingge and Biyu (and by extension our spirits) and help rank up our SL with them?

It would be easy if that was the choice, but it isn't. We're simply deciding on whether to spend more time with our family. According to @Sundancer, the issue with our family was that we weren't sharing enough about our situation and plights with them, which we've remedied in the recent chapters. This was definitely a key element of our family troubles, but I'm not sure if it was the cause of all of them.

Dawg, this stage is LITERALLY about finding our way. We shape it how we like.

Furthermore, as a story I like it better if her mother and sis retain the importance they have gained, but don't become more of a focus for now. I find her friendship dynamics more interesting and I fell that the recent injection of family has provided a good balance. I don't want the story to OVERBALANCE. Also she's 15 and has been focusing a lot on her studies and now her family, you want to add more familial responsibility...sheeesh let the girl have a life.

It should be noted that disappointing Shenhua will have a much more direct effect on our odds of reaching the higher tiers of cultivation than not spending extra time with our family. If we disappoint her, she'll cut the resources given to us, and we don't any way to make up for that deficit. Spending a heap of extra time with our family right now might have some cultivation effects down the road, maybe, but it's pretty nebulous.
