You really are trying to sell the worst possible option, aren't you? By your logic then we shouldn't even bother with the regions because the dragons are too powerful we don't have enough power to take them down. Knights have taken down Titans as well you know. Sigurd and Sigmund have both beaten multiple Titans on their own and Knights Fight as a unit. They are also not static they will adapt and change the same as how our people change and adapt to deal with new problems.
When have the Knights been perpetually wiped out during the War on Two Fronts when they were at the front of the worst fighting and kept going? During any of the other wars when they took the same kind of losses as any other force? They aren't getting wiped out all the time they have been one of our greatest force multipliers since the very beginning.
Also, that is 130 Coming at the start their numbers will grow larger the more time goes by not to mention no one is going to go off on their own. So no all 130 are not going to want their own keeps they are more than likely to go out in large groups if they decide to form their own House same as we have if Sigmund comes to Avernus. They know how dangerous this planet is they trained on it most of them were trained by Sigmund on it. He would have drilled it into their heads not to overestimate their skills on this deathworld. These Knights aren't fresh-faced recruits they are veterans of battle and war they are not stupid like you are trying to paint them as.
We have enough fire power to take em down, but as Tarascon proved by managing to kill 5 corps of helltroopers in our first unsuccessful attempt at exploring it and millions of helltroopers with hundreds of thousands of them holding it when we quite explicitly equipped them to counter what they were going to fight there and even then instead of sending things in by land we had to space drop everything to construct the lonely mountain because its so dangerous, so yeah I'd say I'm presenting Tarascon as exactly as dangerous as it is.
Was thinking more Colbalt myself, but I admit that was unfair, extenuating circumstances of sorcerers, even if I still don't see them as that spectacular of a force multiplier, if for no other reason than I've never gotten to see them in action up close.
Not if they're all dead to dragons. I'm not painting them as idiots, I'm painting them as people who have quite reasonably never fought in a place on earth where every major creature is a knight level -->titan level threat which number in the hundreds of thousands and will want the places they are living in.
That's the kind of odds that would demolish a full scale titan legion never mind 130 knights no matter how good they are or how advanced their technology. Even if hundreds of other knights come over and decide to stay full time I don't think they'd keep up with those kind of casualties living outside the cities without Avernus basically propping them up, I don't think anyone who isn't an alpha could and I don't give the alpha's good odds of surviving a year.
So yes I do think the are over their heads, their training likely took place in Aradina where they were hunting Titan Scorpions who are a whole nother kettle of fish compared to the Dragons who live in the power region.
So yeah I do think they'd adapt I think they'd adapt by moving into the cities where they're not going to be crushed by random tsunami and invisible explosive breath, since you know those utter bastard dragons frequently put our hero units like Tamia in the hospital, I don't give anyone good odds against them.
@Doomed Wombat was it you who wanted to help the local polities because with the rogue trader we can.
Not me.
