Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

[X] Answer truthfully. You'll tell everyone what you saw.
-[X] You were attacked by your childhood protector who tried to kill you before you entered the Academy, and this time he was going to finish the job.

But the greatest problem with the above option is actually one of the reason I think the option I chose makes the most sense, if Daisuke thought the world wasn't real he wouldn't care as much as he does about it, if something were to happen to Ino or Mother or one of his other friends....would he really be unaffacted by it?

It's a subconscious fear. I'm afraid of heights, but the only time that fear ever really manifests is when I can see exactly how high I am. Like when I'm on an escalator. I have to sit down just to ride an escalator...

The point being that Daisuke won't worry about it until the fear punches him in the gut with undeniable evidence, but that's just how I see it. He'd put it in the back of his mind, shelving it in a dark corner until something triggers it. Like seeing a spider, you're not worried about them until you see them. Though maybe the Gamer system would trigger it, but who knows. If this argument isn't doing it for you then consider this, people get attached to fake things all the time.

That's all I have to say on the subject with my admittedly meager knowledge. I mainly voted for the meta option because existential fears make more sense for someone like Daisuke to me.

Hilarious they talk about them being your best friends but we never seen Kurenai or Hana or Anko or most named ninjas in the village teammates that aren't the sannin or team 7 under Minato or Sarutobi/Danzo/That lady teammate.
i just checked, one of Kurenai's teammates was Asuma. They seem pretty close :p.

You also have to consider

1) some of those teammates might be dead
2)they might have different specialties, and so they go on different missions/work in different departments
3) You're talking about secondary characters. We don't really see much of their life outside of the VERY few episodes they star in. If you consider the rookie 9 they ALL become very close to each-other in the end.

The Ino-Shika-Chou seems to be rather close even after being adults too and the whole line of hokage teams (Sannin and Sarutobi's team) too.

On another note, from what Kurenai said, it sounds like she was subjected to this genjutsu as her own genin test. I wonder if she will share?

Sure, why not.

I'm sure there are wrong answers to this, but I don't think this is one of them. It's vague enough that it can't be turned against us easily, but true enough to show some maturity and trust.

[X] You refuse to answer. Some things must stay private.
Kurenai has yet to earn the right to know this, and if she tries to flunk us for this then so be it. A quest in the genin corp trying to advance/grow/survive without the aid of a sensei will be something I've never been in before and as such should be fun.

Our Jounin instructor and senior in the military structure we enlisted in doesn't have to earn anything.
1) Her being our instructor and senior means she doesn't have to earn obedience. Trust is not obedience.
She is giving a test and threatening us with the genin corp if we fail the test. She has not ordered us to tell her and as such we do not have to answer.
2) Kurenai may be our senior, but that does not make her at all trustworthy, and you can't command a person to automatically trust a person. To trust someone is to judge them trustworthy and nothing she has done has given us any reason to believe her so.

As far as Konoha is concerned, she is a veteran who has proved capable and trustworthy throughout her career.

Daisuke on the other hand has only proved that he is skilled/smart enough to be dangerous. His loyalty is untested as was his ability to act under pressure.

As for here just being our senior...

Recall that Kakashi shut down Iruka about the chunin exams by reminding him that after graduating Naruto and team were soldiers under his command. So yeah, Kurenai isn't JUST our senior she's our commanding officer and teacher. Konoha is a military force that we've enlisted into, our Commander has every right to give us orders.

Also, Genin corps are fanon and may not be a thing here.

and as such she is someone I would be happy to trust with our life or time and energy. That doesn't mean I'd trust her with this.

hmm, and you realize this is a test right not an order? We are full able to refuse to answer if we accept that to do so is to fail her test

"Not technically an order" doesn't fly in a military organization.
How much of Konoha or even Naruto in general actually resembles a military organization other than that it's purpose includes combat?
Individuals who casually shit on or ignore entire armies, the equivalent of high ranking officers going AWOL for years with no punishment, casual relationships between the various officers and their soldiers(jonin-gening), nothing resembling boot camp, no real attempt to mold the genin into proper soldiers other than sometimes teaching them.

Konoha and the villages in general resemble tribes and warriors far more than they do soldiers, and I don't recall the sort of discipline/chain of command situations you seem to be thinking of ever showing up in the show.

Do you think a modern military would tolerate Tsunade going AWOL? Do you think a modern military would allow canon team 10s laziness? Do you think a modern military would allow the sort of insubordination that shows up so damn regularly in the show?

Daisuke actually does know Kunerai is trustworthy/good, and not just because "Konoha!" There's his past-life memories and his Perk for specifically receiving hunches based off it. Even if he can't recall perfectly/completely, he has much more reason to believe she's worthy of trust than to write her off as a crazy emotional manipulator. Mean, Hinata turned out perfectly well with Kunerai as her teacher, so why would Daisuke think it'd be worse for him? Especially since he has Kiba there, who also turned out well with her as his teacher.

I honestly don´t see pre-chunin-exam Hinata living through such a genjutsu and walking away ok. Please remember Neji talked her into giving up till Naruto had his outburst. She failed in missions again and again , because of lack of confidence. That genjutsu would have fucked her up. This is not canon Kurenai and I highly doubt this was her test or such a fucked up "trust building exercise".

I feel like this test is less about building trust and more about figuring out where we are mentally and part of that involves acknowledging our fears so we can work past them.
