Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

Dai is livingin an anime world with the powers of the Gamer. Making him doubt everything is real seems like it'll lead to an existential crisis.

Yea so uhh, our greatest fear is probably the highest meta level in this.
We aren't actually scared of a dead man anymore, its just remembered terror. We don't live in fear that hes going to show up and kill us every day.
We make everything worse by existing? Demonstrably false when considering this life both as a real existence and a fake game one. The only real way this could be considered correct is if we're comparing to canon and the result of this change remains to be seen.
Nothing is real? Well, we can't actually beat that argument without just accepting reality is what it is. To make matters worse the game layer kinda reinforces this every second of every day.

[X] Lie about what you saw. You won't tell anyone what you really saw, but you need to say something.
-[X] You were attacked by your childhood protector who tried to kill you before you entered the Academy, and this time he was going to finish the job.

We can't both be truthful to our team, and keep the Gamer-thing a secret. Telling the truth here in the spirit of "We must have no secrets. We must know each other as closely as we know ourselves" but hiding our Gamer-thing would just be hypocritical and a lie in itself. If we don't want to reveal the Gamer-thing, we have to choose untruthfulness.

I don't want to choose silence, since I actually think that Kurenai is within her rights to demand the truth from us, unless it's protected be law like a Clan Secret.

Thus, we choose the best kind of a lie, one that has many elements of truth in it. It is a lie, because this is not the thing that Daisuke feared the most, but close enough that it should fly.

Honestly, I don't think Option 3 aka "is this even real?" really works. Like, straight up, it is impossible to undeniably prove what you're seeing and experiencing is actually reality. For all you know, Inception and The Matrix had a baby & every time you think you can prove "this isn't real!" you just end up in a new layer of falsehoods.

So getting bent out of shape about it? Quickest route to madness and paranoia I can think of. So really, you just have to accept you ultimately can't prove reality is what it appears to be. Plus, going all "This isn't real so I can do whatever" is just... horrible, if only for the pragmatic approach of the "fake" people trying to waste or imprison you.

I feel like the fact that we're voting for our greatest fear rather than just what to say should have been spelt out more here, rather than just mentioned on the discord. I was absolutely going to vote for the first option until I saw that.

[X] You refuse to answer. Some things must stay private.

Honestly just no. To tell someone oyu barely know your deepest fear after being put through such a freaking experience is more shitty thing to do.

Is everyone voting for telling the truth really ok with revealing the Gamer-thing? Because that is an important part of our fear, so that is implicitly revealed here. We can't both "Answer truthfully", and hide the Gamer-thing. That would be lying by omission, since it would only be telling a part of what we saw. Kurenai was very clear that she meant us to keep no secrets here, and doing so while claiming to tell the truth is lying.
