Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

[X] Answer truthfully. You'll tell everyone what you saw.
-[X] You were attacked by your childhood protector who tried to kill you before you entered the Academy, and this time he was going to finish the job.

Duh.

I composed this before the "It really will be your greatest fear" thing got revealed but it's still relevant.

[X] Answer truthfully. You'll tell everyone what you saw.
-[X] You were told by someone whose approval you once looked for that you make everything actively worse just by existing.

It's a common fear at that age, hell, I'm nearly thirty and I still worry about that happening. Granted, at that age, I was having nightmares about my school administration hunting me through the streets on horseback.

If you'll excuse me for a second, I'm going to be incredibly sarcastic at the other options.

-[] You were attacked by your childhood protector who tried to kill you before you entered the Academy, and this time he was going to finish the job.
My worst fear is that a cunning fellow who I killed and everyone believes is dead has been secretly biding his time and is going to attack me in the middle of the village! Alternatively, some crazy ninja is going to seek immortality and bring back the dead to kill people he doesn't like! Good thing that neither of those things happens in canon to people who are far more important than us.

-[] You were in a world where nothing around you was real. A world where maybe you aren't even real.
My worst fear is the thing you just fucking did to me. Yeah, that's going to go over well. And couple that with her own past of having to deal with a reality warping Genjutsu user... Yeah, that's not going to look good at all, especially with our genius at the subject. Kurenai is one of the world's top genjutsu users who has the ability to semi-permantly lock away someone abilities, confessing that nothing feels real when we show evidence of an unknown bloodline? Not great.
Yes, being a Genjutsu genius in some ways makes this fear more likely, but it also points to us having something like the reality warper's bloodline jutsu. Not great. (Yes, she was anime only. She was also really terrifying on a conceptual level.)

@Vesvius how about something like this

[X] Answer truthfully, but in a obscure way.
-[X] I saw myself die, and by my meddling the world died with me. The fun part was that it didn't even matter because it's all just a joke, a cosmic game of pretend where we all are but actors in a make-believe play. Genjutsu? Oh sensei, you have no idea. "Step by step, heart to heart, left, right, left, we all fall down... Like toy soldiers"

EDIT: Death, failure, being the butterfly that ends the world(because that shit is still coming) and to top it off, wondering if you are just the plaything of some cosmic thing, or if there is any reason or point or purpose you were placed here, because unlike the rest, you know you were placed.

Eh, I just read that from Ves post earlier. I just switched to one vote.

A bit frustrating tbh, I kinda wanted to read their reaction to what we saw.
All three options touch upon what we saw, apparently - it's just the focus of what we say is dependent on what our Greatest Fear is.

But yeah, I posted that before you switched over.

As always, I am in awe of your ability to explain things like this clearly, Fourmyle.

No wonder, most high ranking ninjas are so totally screwed-up mentally. I hope that Kurenai had the smarts to at least have psychological support nearby in case one of her students did have a breakdown.

Man, the 'I killed a man when I was 5' vote we didn't take sure looks alot less edgy, and alot more relevant now, huh everyone?

Considering Daisuke life experiences and the destiny he is under by being the iron daiymo bastard....yes.

well, we're saying what we saw anyway. It's just we put more emphasis on our one true fear!

Damn if that's an horrifying Genjutsu.

Sealless, attacking through ALL 5 senses AND nearly unbreakable? Honestly it sounds like a Tsukuyomi with reduced variability (you can't decide what the illusion is, like in Tsukuyomi, though the last one needs eye contact).

Though it would probably work only once per person i think. Second time would be A LOT less effective.

I didn't think i was underestimating Kurenai, but i was wrong. Especially if THIS is not her best genjutsu!

I feel like on a very meta level, this is what our protagonist is afraid of. Not Daisuke, but the person who died in the beginning and got inserted into Naruto-verse.

Because ultimately, that would be most people's fear in Daisuke's place: worrying that they'll end up ruining the Good Ending they know all these people were suppose to have. Daisuke knows for a fact Tokei has family that'll never see him again, and he more-or-less directly caused a lot of strife between Ino & Mariko.

Then there's all the divergences when it comes to Team structure, which for all he knows mainly happened due to him being the sole different variable- of knowing there was no Daisuke in the original version he remembers.

Plus, if Naruto and Sasuke fail to develop in a specific manner... goodbye world, nice knowing ya. Can you imagine the guilt, of having accidentally enabled the end of the world due to shifting too many things?
