Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

Let's out samurai Tokei!

[JK]Plan: The House Wins.
-[JK] Accept Tokei's judgement.
-[JK] Accept that he was just a man, who never tried to do his job.
-[JK] Accept that the Watchman didn't care to save you, and tried to end your life to cover his own embarrassment.
-[JK] Accept death, do not fear it.
-[JK] Resume partying.
-[JK] Invite Tokei to join you.

"The way of the warrior is realized in the presence of death. This means choosing death whenever there is a choice between life and death. There is no other reasoning."- Yamamoto Tsunetomo
"Rehearse your death every morning and night. Only when you constantly live as though already a corpse (jōjū shinimi) will you be able to find freedom in the martial Way, and fulfill your duties without fault throughout your life." - Yamamoto Tsunetomo

[] Plan: Calm Analytics

"The spiritual aspect of valor is evidenced by composure -the calm presence of mind. Tranquility is courage in repose." - Inazo Nitobe
"Observation and perception are two separate things; the eye that observes is stronger, the eye that perceives is weaker." - Miyamoto Musashi

Hm, does Daisuke have the technical knowledge of Genjutsu to know or make an educated guess as to whether he could physically block his nostrils?

This must rely on Daisuke's mind to create this vision, Kurenai was not there and I doubt there is much of a record of what happened.
That said Kurenai is at least setting the outline of this vision, Tokei is not acting like Tokei did at the time and appears programmes to antagonize and draw Daisuke's into a fight.

It might be that Daisuke can just spend his time talking.

[X] This is still an illusion! If Chakra doesn't work, pain might do the trick! Bite your lip hard.

Kurenai bit her lip in the manga to break from freaking Itachi´s genjutsu ,not the tongue and bitting your tongue off is kind of a suicide move and is far more harming than biting your lips.

could it be that the party and all was the illusion and when kurenai "uses" the incense just dispelled it making us think we are trapped in a genjutsu? i mean can we even get game notifications in a genjutsu? why not use the game system to check? try opening the journal or check the settings? can we check our health ?we can damage ourselves and see what happens,we can try summoning the wood dummy ,if we are in a genjutsu supposedly a disruption of chakra dispels it can we cast a genjutsu in ourselves to try and disrupt it? i mean if pain works the a new sensation could work?

[X] Plan: Don't buy in, but don't be stupid
-[X] You know this is a genjutsu. You know that Kurenai is a mistress of genjutsu, so it is no surprise she'd go with this as a test. It's likely how you feel is genjutsu too. Don't let it unman you.
-[X] Try biting your tongue to break out of the genjutsu. Don't choke on the blood though.
-[X] At the same time, 'Tokei' may be Kurenai in henge and this may be more complicated than it seems. Go into an unarmed defense to ward off attacks from Tokei, but limit yourself so that you aren't attacking your teammates, while trying to find flaws in Tokei's portrayal.

@Vesvius
Doable. Accepted.

That appears to be attempting to do literally everything at once. So no.

Can't help but feel that is an unfair categorization but I was you know thinking this wouldn't all be done literally in the same moment. I assumed the vote was suposed to cover more than the span of a few seconds. So i listed a few things to do in order of what i felt was important as the vote seemed kinda open ended. This most certainly wasn't some attempt to have my cake and eat it so to speak.

Especially as you okayed a vote just now that does more or less the same thing.... now im just confused, where does my vote fall down but drakes doesnt?

A Consultation by djehuty3 (canon)
It occurs to me that Daisuke might, just might, be power-leveling the squirrels of Konoha.

If Pain shows up I won't be surprised to see the hidden defenders of the Leaf to rise up and defeat his nefarious plot.

Oh, dude. I am waiting for Mariko to get a summoning contract with the little bastards. It will happen. And we will pay when it does.

On an unrelated subject, I present!

You cannot cheat on your friends. You just can't. That's not how friendship works. Even if you have friends in common- even if those friends usually come as a pair!- it does not count as infidelity if you hang out with one person instead of another. It's just acknowledging the facts.

That's what Manami told herself as she settled onto the park. It wasn't helping the guilt even slightly. Still, she needed help from someone who at least understood politeness. Anko and Tsume just... wouldn't understand.

Her guest seemed to have no such issues.

"So, what seems to be the trouble, Manami?"

"I wouldn't say trouble, as such. It's more..." she sighed. "Can I trust in your discretion?"

"Of course," he replied, looking offended that she even had to ask.

"Well... since Daisuke left the nest, I've been... well."

"At a loose end?"

"Exactly, yes. So I've been thinking about what I could do to fill the time. I thought I might get a job."

"Excellent idea."

"Thank you."

"But, if I might be direct, I don't see how I can be of much help. My areas of influence are a little... shall we say, specialised."

"No, I realise that. It's more... given your skillset, I thought you might make a good sounding board."

"Alright..."

"Do you know anyone who understands the complexity of courtly etiquette better than me?"

"Well no, of course not, but-"

"Don't be coy. You're popular around the village."

"With ninja, yes. Civilians tend to be a bit put-off."

"Besides the point entirely. What about social skills in general?"

"...Compared to you?"

"Yes."

"A few, but they're all social specialists themselves. Members of the diplomatic corps, or T&I Interrogators."

"...really?"

"Oh yes. Quite a few of them don't bother with torture. Just pick the right tea ceremony, create the right atmosphere, and people will tell you anything."

"When you put it like that it's obvious."

"It strikes me we're getting sidetracked."

"Yes. Yes, of course. My point is, I have an absolute wealth of knowledge on human interaction that might be very useful to the village."

"...I think I see where you're going with this. You want to teach the social trainees."

"Not immediately. I would imagine there would be a question of security clearance."

"Naturally. But that would be the end goal."

"Yes. What do you think?"

A pause.

"I think it would be difficult, but... I also can't think of anyone more qualified."

"Flatterer. But you know ninja better than I do. Do you think it's feasible?"

"Depends how you go about it. If you just march into the Hokage's tower demanding work, then you'll be lucky if they just laugh you out of the door."

"Well, obviously."

"How did you want to go about it?"

"I thought I'd start in the village; offering etiquette and elocution lessons to civilian girls."

"And then branch out to the civilian-born ninja."

"Exactly. And when I do make that transition, I'd offer a discount for telling their friends. From an outside perspective, it'll look like I'm looking for new clients-"

"-which you are, but it'll also serve to get your name out there in the wider shinobi community. Very clever. You realise they'll spot what you're doing, though."

"Oh, of course. Underneath the underneath and all that. But if I'm good enough, it won't matter. They'll know I'm manipulating them and I'll know they know I'm manipulating them but they'll do it anyway because I'm just so charming."

"...That you were not born a ninja is a tragedy, Manami."

"So you approve? There's no obvious problems I'm missing?"

"Nothing I can see."

"Good. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me."

"Think nothing of it. Now, I don't mean to be rude, but you mentioned a game of fetch?" asked Kuromaru, wagging his tail.

@Vesvius I find it vaguely amusing that I have to beat my muse with a stick to get anything for my own project, but I get halfway through one of your updates and inspiration hits me like an eighteen wheeler! :p All into Perception please.

Personally I think we should just sit down and wait. We know that this is a genjutsu, and we equally know that this is a test - Kurenai wouldn't actually risk truly harming us. So, just sit down and wait it out, showing we can be calm under pressure.

Alternatively, see about moving away from the fire so we're not in a cloud of incense, which is obviously the probe for the genjutsu, and is acting continuously. Try a Kai once away.

[X] This is still an illusion! If Chakra doesn't work, pain might do the trick! Bite your tongue hard.
-[X] If that doesn't work, fight to incapacitate Tokei non-lethally

[X] Plan: Calm Analytics

Mariko really is just your typical teenage girl trying to act "grown-up" and "mature" while hiding that she's actually kind of a dork, huh?

"Because you want to embarass me," she answers promptly.

This is actually an interesting insight into how she views her relationship with Daisuke. She legitimately seems to think he hates her so much he'd take any opportunity to screw her over.

Also, Daisuke trying to act cool around Hana is quite entertaining.

I got the feeling that the incense is some kind of powerful hallucinogen rather than Kurenai using genjutsu. Just because Kurenai specializes in genjutsu doesn't mean that she doesn't have any other tricks up her sleeve.

[X] Plan: Calm Analytics
-[X] You know this is a genjutsu. You know that Kurenai is a mistress of genjutsu, so it is no surprise that you can't escape it. Calm yourself, you know this is all a fake.
-[X] You are not the little boy that was helpless back then, be confident in what you accomplished, and try to endure the trauma.
-[X] The quest log only confirms that Kurenai has started to attack your group, and it tells you to survive, not fight or win. So the winning condition is to last long enough.
-[X] Try to break the genjutsu with more Chakra, but otherwise, trust in your teammates to break it for you, and don't panic.
-[X] Go into an unarmed defense only to ward off attacks from Tokei, but limit yourself so that you aren't attacking your teammates.
