Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

Jeez guys, chill, there's really no need for personal attacks.

[X] Ino does not look happy. She needs you now. Go find her before she gets too far away.

No, we can't. Or rather, if Daisuke deliberately holds back and fails, that'll put scrutiny on us and shit. Plus, it would look bad if the ROTY deliberately failed out. It'd look less bad if we fail due to Mariko fucking up, so we can only hope that Mariko fucks everything up to the point that Kurenai drops us, because she's a toxic influence*. If we pass, then we'd better hope Kurenai has better vision(Which she should!) than Iruka and notice how toxic Mariko is and take the steps to fix her attitude.

Or, whenever said 'test' may or may not take place we outright refuse to take part on the grounds that we cannot trust Mariko, and can't work with her, and explain such things clearly to Kurenai. I know, as Shinobi, we're going to be expected to work with all kinds of people-- but that doesn't preclude us from trying to nip any problems in the bud. If she insists, we could attempt to go through with the test, but I'm still not very hopeful for this team whatsoever.

Hell, maybe then Konoha will look at us and go 'oh, yeah, this kid had one of his primary caretakers try to murder him and his mother, and was forced to take his life in order to survive-- so maybe he does have legitimate trust issues and we should put more thought into this, or possibly get him some help.' And, wouldn't you know, Inoichi is already conveniently close enough to us through his daughter to possibly try and resolve any issues.

Though, honestly, I don't have much faith in Konoha's responsibility when it comes to mental health. See: Sakumo, Kakashi, Itachi

Right, but the point is as mentioned several times, if she's so willing to attack us because we basically called her out as a disrespectful little shit when the teacher himself told the class to treat us like they would him, how can we trust that she'll not attack us in the field over something or listen to our advice/commands when the time comes?
Because it goes against her own self-interests.

willpower & taijutsu are both super close to leveling up

our physical attributes are starting to lag behind our ken/taijutsu, we should probably focus on getting strength & dexterity to superhuman next

[X] You may not like one of them, but you have a team now. You should make the best of it. Go find Kiba and Mariko, and have lunch.

Might as well try to put our best foot forward.

Right, that's why I said that if we're hoping for the team to fail, we have to count on Mariko's hatred for us fucking up our chances with Kurenai because we, the ROTY, cannot be seen as holding back/deliberately failing out.

We shouldn't be hoping for our team to fail, though. It's dumb. We'd miss out on an achievement, and it would harm our career. Just deal with Mariko, and either get her swapped for someone else if this doesn't work out, or just get to chunin and not have to deal with being on a team with her after that.

I suggest you get off your high horse and stop clogging up the thread with your hatred for canon Kurenai because as mentioned several times, this not canon Kurenai!

No, HELL NO! :jackiechan::facepalm::mob:
Check the end, I am fairly sure that is Kairi writing stories again.

What sort of damage are you expecting? We aren't going to get fucked up by a Jutsu used by an academy student.
To be honest that could actually happen, the Genjutsu she has been working on is the Hell Viewing one, and Dai suppresed really hard the whole Tokei thing and all the other
stuff about Iron even a few seconds of it could be detrimental to his mental health.

Heh, Forgot Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya.

Not to mention Sasuke and Naruto. Aka the last of their founding clans and their goddamn jinchuriki weapon.

Konoha desperately needs a therapy section in their ninja corps. The best they have to my knowledge is Torture and Intelligence and the Yamanaka.

If he were to have that much of a weakness to genjutsu, he is not cut out for the ninja lifestyle.

Well, might as well try to be professional. Our career as ninja will be impacted by how this turns out.

Ino will get over it. She's on a team that has good synergy, and it's not like she can't get along with Shikamaru and Choji.

Tbf, he's an academy student. You're not expected to be able to be a master of everything when you start out. Remember the Chunin exam? Most of the genin got knocked the fuck out barring some who noticed right away.

You're supposed to build up to that, so having weaknesses comes par for the course.

I strongly suspect that this is the best choice.

Yes, we do not like Mariko, in any way, shape, or form. But we're on a team now. And if we want to fucking BURY her, we need to be on the right side of the people in charge. I'm sure Dai is smart enough to consider looking good for the leadership.

And if we end up looking good and give her the rope to hang herself with, when she has it all tied in a noose, we can hold the chair steady while she climbs.

She's incapable of functioning as a normal human around us, let alone professionally. If we don't make the same mistake, she will be the one who pays for it.

Might as well see if we can make each other feel better. If Dai and Mariko were just going to magically star tolerating each other then I doubt it would happen literally after being livid at being stuck together.

eeeeeeeeeee

WE GET TO TEACH AKAMARU KENJUTSU IN HONOR OF BEST GIRL, SIF!

I love this team so much

Thank you, Based Ves-kage!
Akamaru with Kenjutsu could be amazing and Kiba's worst trait as a kid is arrogance that could be tempered by teamates that are good enough keep with him and earn his respect, making him one of the bros would be interesing.

[X] You may not like one of them, but you have a team now. You should make the best of it. Go find Kiba and Mariko, and have lunch.

Also Mariko can fuck herself, we may no like her but I will never put enough value on her existence to bet Dai's future archivements would be based on how is our relation with her.

My plan to deal with her is easy, get to chunnin.

That Jutsu was casted by a couple of chūnin. If Daisuke would suffer mental problems from a genjutsu casted by an academy student, that would be a incredibly crippling to him.

Edit: unless you're talking about the finals, where the Jutsu in question was A-ranked.

I find the latter half of what you wrote very optimistic, especially since the Yamanakas aren't therapists by any means. As for the former, well, as @Enjou says, "We'd miss out on an achievement, and it would harm our career.", so I mean, we can try. But that looks more like what Iruka said to shut down Ino, that we're claiming to know better than the Hokage which is a big no-no in military dictatorships.

Because it goes against her own self-interests.

If she's willing to flat-out attack us in class, then clearly she either doesn't care about her self interests, is not thinking about the consequences of her actions(Which Iruka didn't help with), or her only/overriding self-interest is to get rid of/attack Daisuke. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea Mariko is sane.

We shouldn't be hoping for our team to fail, though. It's dumb. We'd miss out on an achievement, and it would harm our career. Just deal with Mariko, and either get her swapped for someone else if this doesn't work out, or just get to chunin and not have to deal with being on a team with her after that.

Well then, I'm interested on how you think we can get Mariko swapped since teams are locked in upon Jounin acceptance unless there's a death in the team and I'm also interested on how you think we can just get to Chunin easily. After all, you can win the Exams, but it doesn't mean you automatically make Chunin.

Check the end, I am fairly sure that is Kairi writing stories again.

Again, I reiterate: No, HELL NO! :jackiechan::facepalm::mob:

I think it is more likely for Konoha to look at us and go 'oh, look at the ego on this kid.'. Honestly for Konoha, any prospective ninja that refuses to even TRY and make an attempt to work with their fellow ninja is basically trash. By their rationale, if you can't even make an attempt to work with other ninja (even ninja you dislike personally), then how can they trust you to do anything. There is a lot of crap in life that is harder than working with someone we have ... friction with. If we call it quits here, right in the beginning, if this is what trips us up, then they can't really rely on us at all. In Konoha's eyes, if we don't even try to make this work, then we probably wouldn't have amounted to much anyways. On another note.

Team Twelve: Shinsato Ren, Hazakura Yui, Fujiwara Hibachi! Your instructor is Nara Reina!

Poor Yui, being stuck with Ren is probably the worst for her.

A chunin jutsu that was dispelable by genin. From the looks of it, that genjutsu was more to get the chaff out of the way rather than target the ninja specifically. So they focused on area of effect rather than power.

I mean, I can imagine some pretty scary genjutsu personally with just basic touch and sound. Chittering and the tingling feeling of spiders crawling on my skin would freak me the fuck out, and that's just using basic senses and nothing quite as profound as Hell Viewing which yanks the person's own phobias against them.
