To there knowledge we created a genjutsu, so they put us with the one who can best teach us how to develop more and better genjutsu. I think they forgot that we apprenticed to gai.... not boosting dex and taijutsu for the fight with sasuke was a mistake it looks like. Of course they also ignored the sword jutsu we created and did not get someone who could teach us more on that.... okay yeah Iruka really dropped the ball hard here.

Yeah, that's all Kishimoto's fault. Remember, Kishimoto has problems writing females competently. If you're female, forget screen time and logical progression of strength and shit. You'll be a flat static existence throughout the story. But again, this isn't canon Kurenai. Plus, we're not likely to deal with Itachi ourselves since we're not with Sasuke. So no worries there.

Which I really don't fucking care about, I don't care that Kurenai is out teacher, I care about the fact that the fucking bitch who's been our biggest enemy for the last seven years is now our team mate and someone we're supposed to trust with our life.

I think there are two problems, one Mariko as teammate, and two the feeling that we are trying to be shoehorned as a genjutsu specialist or training for now. As opposed to a kenjutsu/ninjutsu or ninjutsu/taijutsu specialist.

I agree with you, but do you really think Iruka's going to turn around his decision now? I mean, he already shut down Ino and the class twice. And he's already explained that the Hokage has ratified the decisions, so to argue with the decisions is to argue with the Hokage(Cheap excuse to hide behind the Hokage, Iruka). So more likely he'll just tell us to "Suck it up, soldier!".

I'm willing to do my best to try and change it. Fuck just accepting this lying down. We've been on Mariko's shitlist for the last seven years, she put our best friend, her own cousin on her shitlist for wanting to hang out with us. She fucking despises us and has made that very clear for Seven Years and now we're supposed to just grin and trust this woman with our life?

Please, please, do not blame the omake writers. Yes, they may or may not have contributed to the situation, but their points are theirs to do as they will and we can't control it. Just accept their choices and move the fuck on. I do not want this to end like WSIA did and I do not want to drive away our omake writers.

Be unhappy as you like about their decisions, just don't complain about it all the time in the thread!

Hey, fair enough. I'm not telling you to change it. I'm just asking if you really see a way to change Iruka's mind. Because if you do and can convince me, I'll happily jump ship.

Mariko has an inferiority complex and hates us. While we are now an elite in her speciality and going to literally shove our superiority in her face just by being us. This is more of a trainwreck than canon Team 7. I don´t think it will work but honestly we have to try to change it..

Gotta be there for the bestie. Don't think we can do anything about the teams so looking to simply see how things play out. Worst comes to worst, most of us'll probably fail the Jounin tests and we can end up in a different team for the exams...

Besides the outright hostility she has displayed throughout the academy? We have not tried to provoke her but she goes out of her way to provoke us or Ino. And that has continued to this year (see our history presentation).

Honestly, I don't know if we CAN change Iruka's mind, the guys got serious blindspots when it comes to his student interactions, and I don't doubt that colored his reports to the Hokage and Jonin Sensei. He probably thought Mariko and our problem was some petty classroom thing we'll grow out of in the field, he doesn't get that Mariko legit fucking hates us, and I don't think we can make him see that. I don't care though, we should atleast try, because frankly this team is either going to outright fail anykind of Team Test, or someone's going to wind up dead on a mission.

For the record, omakes had minimal impact on my decisions here. Teams have been set for a while, with fluctuations depending on things like RotY accounted for and charted. If you must be salty- feel free, it sustains me- make sure to keep it pointed in the proper direction, and not at people who just enjoy the quest.

So you are saying that she should have abandoned her friends and fellow Jonins to take a beating and maybe die, or done nothing at all to at least distract him for a few seconds, or just stayed there and let him beat her without even trying anything at all, or tried to out kunai an Uchiha, cause that would have gone Way better than genjutsu, maybe she could try punching him as well, is not as if the Sharingan does anything at all against that as well, she certainly should not have tried her best techniques because they where the only things that had any chance of working at all, certainly not, I could keep going really.

She did the best she could in a really really shitty situation, and got outdone by what pretty much is a motherfucking master in the field, one that praised her for how well she actually did.

And all that as a newly minted a Jonin in a field that Konoha almost ignores.

She might not be the best option, with that I agree, but for heaven's sake man, respect her at the very least.

I think he means "our biggest enemy to date". But she's irredeemable because she's hated us from the very start and put Ino(Her own cousin and likely future Clan Head!) on her shitlist just because Ino wanted to hang out with us as well/more than her. She's displayed outright hostility in every interaction we've had with her(Which I don't get how Iruka missed), and has not made a single attempt to reconcile or compromise with either us or Ino in any way. That's not someone we can trust to have our back at all.

I would rather help our friend Ino, even if that means we fail the initial test our Jounin gives us since Mariko won't work with us. We can always hope to get apprenticed to someone.
