Game of the Year: A Naruto Quest

[x] The Swirl on Iruka's vest on its back.

The most interesting one to hear, IMO. A mix of heritage, politics, geography, and Konoha's identity--all at the QM's whims to world-build. It's kinda arbitrary to pick, admittedly, out of all the available options. Maybe it's an indication of looking at subtler things?

But it does seems like there are already two clear frontrunners 5 hours after the update, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

More news from the Discord: We can't interview Hiruzen for the poster if he wins the vote.
Hmm. What about interviewing Minato tho? :ninja:

Loving the quest so far :)

[X] Ino's got a point. You'll do it on the Yamanaka Clan. You're sure there's some interesting stuff in there that will get you a good grade.

Not just because she stuck with us, though I do want to throw her a bone here, but because you can't talk about the Yamanaka clan history without bringing up their Alliance with the Akimichi and the Nara.

Also, iirc the Sarutobi clan had dealing with the Alliance so you can tie it in to the Hokage as well.

[X] The day that the Eternal Genin, Might Dai, defeated every member of the legendary Seven Swordsman of the Mist by himself. This way maybe you will learn more about Gai's family!

Eh she's so excited. Maybe her friends will come crawling back when they're reminded of the Yamanaka's awesomeness!

[X] Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Hokage. Student of the first two Hokages, teacher to the Sannin and longest serving Hokage, this poster pretty much makes itself!

The Third is great. His philosophy is interesting when viewed in light of his intelligence and the reality of his job. He raises the children of the village he loves so deeply to be killers because he sees no other way to exist in his world. He's worked his whole life to make things better in any way he can, but he's lived long enough to see it all crumble around him. His students have abandoned him, his successor is dead, his village always on the cusp of another war, and yet he still preaches "The Will of Fire".

I wonder how he's formed such strength of conviction and what doubts still linger.

@Vesvius: Would boosting Intelligence, Charisma, and/or Perform help in any way to make a better poster? There's 60 XP unspent, plus whatever the new omake about Ino and the new artwork get.

[X] The founding of the village is still a big deal even if it feels like ancient history to you. You want to do your poster on it.

This is as easy as the Yamanaka option, considering they're a Founding Clan. Only more exclusive so the other clan kids can't do it(and Shikamaru the lazybones wouldn't effort)

Fellow voters, this is a vote about Daisuke's first groupwork poster/presentation in his first week in school. Think about a similar event in your own lives, and you will comprehend what's at stake here :p. That said, the things we will establish here are Daisuke's initial:

Relationship with Ino (How much we take her wishes into account)
Weirdness to the rest of class (Conventionality of our topic)
Mental capability to the rest of class and Iruka (Effort and skills shown in the project)
Social style to the rest of class (Effort and skills in presenting)
Interest in a specific area of history (Choice of topic)

I've seen many arguments about the choice of topic being the key ingredient in winning. This doesn't strike me as very likely at all. The judging criteria will be mainly effort, and the ability to maintain focus on presenting an aspect of the history of Konoha. These are the only criteria equally fair to all first week schoolers who haven't been taught anything about presentations or posters. Of course some topics allow for more effort to be shown than others, but judging based on the choice of topic would be really arbitrary and subjective from Iruka (other than confirming that the topic is actually about the history of Konoha).

I've seen some arguments about the importance of us winning, aka being the top postermaker/presentator in our first week of school. To me, this isn't a very relevant concern, since our personality isn't "Academic Tryhard". We will do a good job, because classy people don't fail these kinds of things, but we don't have to win. The social aspects are much more important for our personality (though winning does make a social statement as well).

As for the established traits listed above, I think the most critical here is defining the relationship with Ino. Will Daisuke overpower her, or will he take a more mellow stance? I was first thinking of just letting Ino have this, and making a good presentation on the Yamanaka. However, it would be more imperious of him to think that only he can figure out the best topic. Not the Maito family though, that's just taking advantage of Ino. Choosing the hokage is really in character: "I chose the Third, because that is really the best possible topic, and much more relevant than your lousy topics. I figured it out and you didn't, because I'm smarter than you. Don't take it badly, it's natural for some to be better than others."

But here's the thing: we have no way, IC, to know that it ties to any of that. We may not eve know that such symbols are typically clan marks.

We could pick that and find out the answer is, "I drew this when I was 8 and thought it looked cool, so I paid someone to put it on my vest."

It's on the back of every other Ninja's vest we've seen too.

Perhaps you guys might wanna change your votes to one of the top two so they count? There's a reason why they always vote Republican or Democrate in America and not other parties

No thanks, my vote still stands. I did it out of gratitude, not pity. That said, I don't mind if the Third wins either.

@Edkose: Ves just confirmed boosting Intelligence would help Daisuke to make a better poster. Would you be willing to change your mind, or will you still wait until the next update?
