I wonder how Kyoko will feel about us singing a song that includes lines thanking god for letting us meet our loved one. Sure in the song it's intended to be romantic love, but I have to assume Yuma is singing about how happy she is to have met Kyoko. Should be cute at least.

You pick one of the more popular songs, a catchy anime opening. You walk over to the middle of the stage-like area and begin singing, bobbing your head from side to side with the beat. "Se~no Demo sonnanja dame, Mou sonnanja hora, Kokoro wa shinka suru yo motto motto!" Your singing isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either, and the pleasant beat is enough to keep everyone entertained. They clap as you finish, taking a small bow before hopping off the stage.

"Homura's next!" says Kyoko, practically shoving her forward. Homura glances back, miffed, but finds only a cocky grin flashed her way. Sighing, she makes her way to the screen and flicks through the selection. She pauses at one, tilting her head. "Oh, this will be good," she murmurs. "Voluntell me, will you?"

You think Kyoko should be afraid. Well, she had this one coming.

Homura steps up to the center of the stage, turning away, transforming and taking something out of her shield. She's hiding it, stuffing somewhere at her back, so evidently she doesn't want you to know what it is, but you're still curious.

Your musings are cut off as a guitar starts to strum, quickly joined by a soft trumpet.

"Where it began… I can't begin to know that," she says, voice soft. You notice that she doesn't seem that into it, at least by normal standards. By Homura's standards, who knows? She continues singing, voice slowly growing more intense along with the music. "Reaching out... touching me, touching yooouuuu!" She's swaying to the beat now, eyes closed. "Sweet Caroline!" Homura pulls out a pistol, firing it in the air three times. Sayaka yelps, while you and Madoka cover your ears. "Good times never seemed so good! ...I've been inclined!" she continues, seemingly unaware of everyone's reactions as she fires another three times. "To believe they never would, and, now, I'm…"

Her song continues, and Homura becomes gradually more into it. She's never exactly emotional, the way most people would be when they sing such a song, but she's definitely putting a lot of effort into her performance.

The song trails off, and Homura stands awkwardly on the stage, looking from side to side. You stand up and begin clapping, quickly joined by Madoka and Sayaka. Kyoko claps too, though she deigns to remain seated.

"That was…" says Madoka, still shocked. "Cool? Nice? It was good? I liked it."

"Was the gun really needed?" asks Sayaka. "I don't think that was in the original song…"

"I thought it was a nice personal touch," says Kyoko. "Anyway, who's going next?"

"I will," says Madoka. "I've had this song that's been stuck in my head for a while now, it's really good!" She walks up to the stage, flicking through the songs until she finds the one she was looking for.

The song starts out fast, and Madoka taps her feet as she sings along. It's a quick, fun song, though once you start listening to the lyrics you realize that it's actually rather dark, about having forgotten a friend. You all clap as Madoka finishes, a smile on her face, and Sayaka steps up to take her place.

"I gotta say, Madoka," says Sayaka. "That was a cool song, but why'd you choose it?"

"It was really catchy!" says Madoka. "And it just seemed… like it resonated with me. I dunno, maybe I'm just being weird."

Nevertheless, Sayaka picks out her song and lets the guitar start.

"One puuuuuuuunch!" she screams, holding the microphone a bit too close to her mouth. She continues singing, and all but Homura start headbanging. "Hero! Ore o tataeru koe ya!" The song is very fast, and you must say that you love it. Overall, a great song. Once Sayaka's done, Madoka goes up and sings some anime song, Connect or something, and it's pretty good. Once Madoka steps down, Kyoko walks up and turns to you.

"Hey, Yuma, do you mind backing me up on this one?" she says. You nod, of course, walking over to join her, and peek over her shoulder to see what song she's chosen. Bohemian Rhapsody, it reads, a song that you've heard once or twice. You always found the first part kinda boring, but it gets really good near the end.

The two of you take your places, heads held high as you start the song.

"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?" the two of you sing. You let your voice fade out as the piano kicks up, taking on the role of the backup singer. "Mama… Just killed a man…" sings Kyoko. The two of you sway to the gentle beat, letting your voices wash over your (admittedly rather small) audience. "I don't want to die, but I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all!" Kyoko strums the empty air with her microphone, pulling off an adorably bad air guitar. The two of you go back and forth, singing one line and then letting the other sing another, as is done the actual song before joining in for the grand build-up.

"Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for meeeeee!" you sing with Big Sis, joining her in Air Guitar this time. You keep headbanging while Kyoko sings the last part, unable to keep still. You sway back and forth as Kyoko's voice trails off, and the two of you take a bow once the song is finished.

"That was great!" says Sayaka. "That was, whatchamacallit, something somethingorrather?"

"Bohemian Rhapsody," says Kyoko. "Yeah, it's cool."

There are a few more songs after that, some Japanese, some American, and in an hour or so you're all out the door.

"So, what now?" you say. "Shopping?"

"Yeah, we need to get you two some new clothes," says Madoka. "And how about you, Homura? How's your wardrobe doing?"

"It is not 'doing'," says Homura. "Much like the metaphorical closet of Kyoko Sakura, It is fairly non-existent."

"The world is my closet," says Kyoko. "Anyway, I'm fine with what I got. I can't smell myself anyway, soooo…"

"But Big Sis, you wash your clothes all the time," you say.

"Yeah, cause you complain all the time!" says Kyoko, face dusted with pink. Ahh, was she doing her 'tries to look really cool' thing? The one that makes you want to hug her a lot?

Probably.

"Well, I'm staging an intervention," says Sayaka. "All three of you, we're going to get you some outfits!"

"Suicide pact?" asks Kyoko, turning to Homura.

"Maybe later," says Homura. "I have not abandoned all hope just yet, though it should only take a few minutes."

"Yuma thinks it sounds like a great idea," you say. "Lead on, Sayaka!" And lead on she does, bags swinging on her arms as she heads toward one of the many clothing stores inside the mall. You find some nice place, some big chain whose name you can't be bothered to remember. Sayaka and Madoka immediately go around looking at skirts and blouses, holding them up in front of one of you and humming approvingly or frowning.

"Hey Kyoko, could you try this on?" says Sayaka, handing over a yellow sundress. Kyoko obliges, grimacing, and she comes out of the change room a few seconds later. She looks… to be honest, she looks sort of meh. You would say that her Huggability has decreased by a factor of two, if you knew what any of those words meant.

"Nah, that doesn't really work," says Sayaka. "You look too awkward, or something."

"It's too girly," says Kyoko. "Really not my style. Hey, do I get a choice in this?"

"You had fourteen or so years to find good clothes," says Sayaka. "You've failed in your duty, so we're taking over."

Kyoko sighs, and while Homura can offer only a slight shrug, you can hug her. So you do.

Some may say you are rather simple, but you just keep on hugging.

Madoka's picked out something for Homura, a white blouse and a purple dress. As she changes into it, Sayaka presents Kyoko with another pick. It's a black hoodie with a short red skirt.

"Try this on," says Sayaka. "Hopefully, it'll be a bit better."

Kyoko nods, quickly changing and coming out at the same time as Homura.

"I'd say these look good," says Sayaka. "Real good. Hey Madoka, what do you think?"

Madoka shakes her head, trying and failing to shake the pink out of her cheeks, and she stammers out something vaguely resembling an answer. Sayaka shakes her head, exasperated, and they turn to finding something for you. They eventually settle on jeans and a t-shirt, getting something similar for Kyoko as well, and Sayaka picks out another outfit for your Big Sis. It's more formal, black slacks and a white dress shirt, and if Sayaka's grin is anything to go by she looks absolutely dashing.

"I guess I like it," says Kyoko. "A bit formal, sure, but not all that bad." At Sayaka's urging, she also gets some stockings and shoes to go with her many outfits, all paid for by the ever-generous Homura and neatly placed inside reusable bags.

"Hey Big Sis," you say, tilting your head. "Isn't this the part where you go all 'I don't need your stupid charity, but I'll accept it, b-but not because I like you or anything!', or did you forget that?"

"Nah," she says. "If Homura's stup-nice enough to give me all this free stuff, then I guess I just have to take all this money off her hands, right? Money is money, so why bother stealing it if someone's willing to just hand it over?"

From a pragmatic point of view, you can admit that Kyoko's speaking sense. Still, it was a missed opportunity for tsundere Kyoko, and you shall grieve this loss for at least a few seconds.

A moment of silence….

Okay, you're done!

Wait, why is everyone leaving? Argh, wait for Yuma!

You run up to the other four, who have cruelly attempted to abandon you. Kyoko turns to look down at you, a knowing smirk on her face, but the others don't seem to notice.

"You guys ready to eat?" says Sayaka.

"Ohh, Sayaka," says Kyoko. "Haven't you figured it out? I'm always hungry."

"She really is," you say. "Any time, any place, Kyoko will eat. She cannot be stopped, she cannot be slowed, and trying to do so will only get you hurt. Fear her. Or hug her, either one works."

Sayaka shakes her head, and you let Kyoko lead you all to a nice place, an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Oh, the poor souls.

The five of you sit down at a round table, and Sayaka opens her mouth to speak but Kyoko ignores her, not even waiting to be seated before she takes off to grab a plate. Sayaka looks at her fleeing form, and you shrug. Big Sis will be Big Sis.

The rest of you join her, leaving bags to mark your seats as you venture forth into the world of food. You stack your plate high with sushi, rice, curry, everything they have, and you return to your seat before anyone else.

Well, except Kyoko. She's already finished her first plate, and gone back to get her second. She arrives back with everyone else, and digs into her second plate with gusto.

Madoka and Sayaka stare at Kyoko, awed and horrified by her enthusiasm and speed, but Homura quietly begins munching on her rice, unfazed.

Well, you suppose people will have to talk at some point. Maybe even you?

What do you do?

Hey guys, sorry this tok so long. I got hit by a tornado, so we didn't have power for the past three days, and long story short I couldn't work on this (much) and I couldn't post it. But it's here now, so yay? Yay.

Well, it could have been a more violent, but less serious choice

Can I just say how much I appreciate your snarky take on Homura? It's exaggerated of course, like everyone in this quest, but I've read too much stuff that portrays her as overly taciturn or socially inept, so it's nice to read something that goes in the other direction. Anyway:

-[] Madoka: rate the chairs of the all you can eat buffet on comfort, aesthetics (by itself and as part of the room), durability, etc.

[X] Critique the buffet's chair couture with Madoka.
-[X] Ask Madoka if she has a Chair Connoisseur Diary to keep record of the chair (and other kinds of seat) ratings.

Madoka said we should save the talk about chairs for later, and I don't see why it can't be a regular thing. Although I don't know how to word the option to get a Diary to record our findings, though.

Then we'll have different connoisseur diaries: chairs with Madoka, buffet food with Kyouko, flip techniques with Homura's hair... I don't know what diary make with Sayaka.

EDIT: edited vote

We joke about Madoka and the chair thing, but I rewatched a couple of episodes the other day and the damn things are everywhere. Kyousuke's hospital room looks like a goddamn IKEA showroom. It's Urobuchi Gen, so there could be some genuine symbolism there that we've all just missed completely, but it's a visual element in any anime ever, so it could just as easily be a random "we thought it'd look cool" thing.

I think each chair is supposed to represent a character.

... And then all the other chairs are there I guess. :V

Yes. Well done, Sayaka.

Redhead, yellow sundress? :thonk:

"Ohh, Sayaka," says Kyoko. "Haven't you figured it out? I'm always hungry."
I can not express how weirded out I am that Kyouko did not then suddenly hulk out.

I got hit by a tornado

....Homura? I get what you're going for, but the police will get called if you repeatedly discharge a firearm in Japan (outside a Witch's Barrier).

Loved how it shown in the scene where Madoka depressed in her room and Kyubey tried to break her with info bomb on ancient aliens being Incubators with an ending cherry of 'When you'll feel like to die for the sake of Universe, call us', all chairs are turned toward sitting on her bed Madoka and throw a feeling of judging her, which sounds ridiculous, but shown oppressively well. I personaly like headcanon that they represent dead magical girls, there's a nice post taking in deep about it somewhere

Edit: Speaking about chairs and dead kids symbolism, reminds me of that anime, name of which I don't remember at all, but song Uninstal its opening or ending. It also used chairs as symbolism for duty, sacrifice and fallen. Also a plot point

Does Homura even have blanks? Or is there a bunch of holes in the wall there? And bullet casings? Gee, Homura, well at least you're already well equipped for a police shootout.
