[X] Ask about Mami Tomoe.
"Big Sis," you say, turning to look her in the eyes. "Who… who was Mami Tomoe?"
Kyoko's breath hitches, her eyes widening.
"Mami Tomoe… Yuma, where did you hear that name?"
"From you, remember? You said that Mami Tomoe was in charge of Mitakihara, back when we were looking for a city to live in. You knew her, right?"
"I knew her, yeah. God, I just… it's a long story, okay? Gimme a minute to think."
You comply, staring up at the ceiling as Big Sis sorts out her thoughts.
"Back when I first became a magical girl, I was kind of shit at it," Kyoko says after a few minutes of thinking. "I ran into Mami while hunting a witch, and we started talking. She had been a magical girl for a few months longer than I had, so she taught me what she knew. We were sort of close, best friends type thing, for about half a year. Then… my family... yeah, and we got into a fight and I haven't seen her since."
So Mami had been Kyoko's Big Sis before all the bad things had happened. You feel a twinge of sadness at the lost opportunity, a person you never had the chance to meet.
"So once I meet you and Kazamino starts running out of witches, coming to Mitakihara's the obvious choice," she continues. "But when I bring it up with Kyubey, he says that Mami's dead and some weirdo has taken over her city. All those nights of figuring out what I finally wanted to say to her, wasted."
You shuffle over and hug Kyoko, pressing your face into her shoulder.
"I'm sorry I brought it up," you say.
"Don't be. I'm not going to break down whenever somebody says her name. It's like… It's like when you asked about my family."
Ahh yes, you remember that night vividly. It was the first time you had seen Big Sis so emotional, and you were somewhat shocked by how easily Kyoko had poured her heart out to you.
She must have been really lonely before you showed up.
"So you're not angry at me or anything, just angry at life." Kyoko nods, and you continue. "In that case, asking was a good thing. Stuff like that only gets worse when you try to hold it all in, and you need to start telling me this stuff."
Big Sis smiles melancholily and ruffles your hair.
"Fine, fine, I'll tell you all that bullshit," she says. "But not tonight. Later. Right now, you need to sleep."
You pout, and refrain from sticking your tongue out.
"Good night, Kyoko. You're the best Big Sis ever."
"Good night, Yuma. You're-" she swallows. "You're the best Little Sis ever. But you'd be an even better little sis if you went to sleep."
Alright, alright, you get the point. You close your eyes, and drift off to sleep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You awake to the sound of snoring coming from right next to you.
Kyoko's snoring alone is almost enough to make you want to shove her off the bed, but you instead turn over and look at the clock.
It's just after nine o'clock, three hours before you're meeting Sayaka, Madoka, and Homura for lunch.
Your stomach growls, and you know that you will not make it to lunch without something to eat.
But you just woke up, and you're too sleepy to go make breakfast. You may be perfect and amazing, but some tasks are impossible even for you.
And then there's the matter of what to say during breakfast. Do you ask more about Kyoko's past? Do you let it be?
What do you do?
[] Right now...
--[ ] Get up and make breakfast.
--[ ] Stay in bed and do nothing. It can wait.
--[ ] Shove Kyoko out of bed. She can make breakfast.
[ ] As for conversation…
--[ ] Ask more about her past.
--[ ] Ask if there's anything else she wants to tell you. Anything else she needs to get off her chest?
--[ ] Just chat. Isn't she excited to meet three new people? (And isn't Sayaka cute?)
[ ] Something else? (Write-In)
