Mikaelsson is definitely holding a grudge, might be worth looking into the possibility of him being voted out of office and maybe supporting his political opponents. Would be dangerous if we were caught but his leadership of Vanaheim is going to be a big problem as the Trust and the Mechanicus start to reform and become more and more progressive. Honestly it's not too bad right now but if we do end up dealing with the Eldar I could see it leading to an internal conflict within the Imperial Trust. Actually Bertil being elected in the first place seems like the type of thing Tzeentch would set up in order to fuck us over way down the line.

Yeah definitely not a good idea, we've got caught once trying to influence Vanaheim, the next try may have real consequences.

And no Bertil being elected is the backlash of the conservatives against more progressive policies (and economic fuck uppery) of Olaf, not indicative of Tzeench.

Still it hopefully would not lead to too much internal conflict as we'd hopefully be the Eldar's first point of contact as nobody would want them to leave Avernus.

Still I'd like to propose we visit Alafric, see if we can help him with his economic stagnation...or Bertil. I dunno.

We could almost certainly have him assassinated by the telepathica/last hunters/arbites/phase tigers and blame it on whoever. The inquisition and Surt would maybe know, but Mittens, Dalv and Jane should be able to pull it off.

Let's not though...cause that'll end in tears.

We really need to pay back Vanaheim for all that they do for the Imperial Trust.
Yes, but how?

mmmm forgiving all the debt they owe us?

No assassinating our fellow governors over political differences. The Inquisition will kill off any Governor if its deemed necessary for reasons like Chaos corruption or gross incompetence, but otherwise let's not commit a crime that could start a civil war.

I don't see any reason to forgive any debt, either. They'll live. Plus we need that to buy ships from them. Maybe give them a discount on metal this trade round or something, if we want to do them a favor.

Anyways, I don't have anyone I'd like to meet, so maybe we can leave ourselves open and see if anyone else wants to meet us? That's worked before.

If we do decide to forgive any debt or give a discount on a resource, we should be very careful. Mikaelsson doesn't strike me as the sort of person that appreciates charity or thinking someone is taking pity on him.

Hmmm, also, giving him a discount would help his political position. Which... we don't want. We want Olaf to get his position back, which he's been working on.

On the other hand, he has the mentality of a shrewd and successful businessman, and those people tend to take opportunities rather than get swayed by sentimentality.

This mentality is also one of the reasons we shouldn't try to kill him. Vanaheim mainly suffers from a lack of resources, so we shouldn't try to kill the man best suited for improving that situation. We need to keep Vanaheim strong or we become sittting ducks with no way to repair or build more of our most important ships.

Backstabbing is bad, m'kay?

Bertil going back to Vanaheim and explaning how he couldnt negotiate a better outcome for Vanaheim helps us. Olaf can point to past examples of him extracting concessions from us to prove he made Vanaheims voice count. Best to do nothing, sit back and let things play out as they are.

[X] Leave yourself open to be approached by other Governors.

I agree with Enjou completely. The current governor of Vanaheim being in trouble can only help us since great uncle in law Olaf coming back is a possibility.

As long as it remains the current governor, not Vanaheim itself in trouble.

In any case I do kinda want to talk to Alafric either about helping Midgard's economy, or to the Inquisition to see if there's anyway we can make ourselves useful to them in hunting down spies ect.

@Durin
1. Since we got the green light for the Eldar contact will you add the text to the last turn now or after the meeting is concluded? Doing this meeting in the past is confusing.
