I guess I could put Aria on that if people want, but it'll mean Lin won't have her help trying to cleanse the Heavy corruption planets. Also her own bonus is pretty low, so with a -20% base chance even with a Double Down there's a good chance of the action failing. Also, not sure if our psykers would actually have time to learn the power before the war.

@Durin - if Techbane was completed in Year 4, would there be time for our psykers to learn the power?

We're going to do them too. But neither will be ready in time for this Waaagh, so it doesn't really matter.

People griped at me last time for not including asking about this, and now people are griping about me including it... yeesh.

Regardless, is there really any harm in asking? Worst case is she says no. Not the end of the world that we spent an action on it. If she says yes though, it might indicate she would be willing to help with future wars.

Nope. It's just within the boundaries and can't be done with the free divination. We've asked.
some but not all of your psykers
@Enjou
We should ask Areatha for techniques that are good against powerful rogue psykers. Maybe something that cuases their power to backlash against itself, to be used at an opportune moment. Also, her advice for dealing with giant monsters. Those two problems are going to keep showing up, more and more frequently. Also, Anti-Ork Powers: Techbane, only takes 3 years.
@Durin
1. Can we offer Areatha tenure at the Unseen University? Would she be interested in teaching a class that we don't/can't offer, or taking a single student?
2. Given the birth of the Abomination making emotion suppressors a surefire way to become a heretic, has the AdMech been really big on the whole "Flesh is weak" thing?
2a. The Adeptus Mechanicus has had morale over 15 for at least a hundred years. Given the above, is the phrase "As happy as a Tech Priest" a common saying in the Trust?
3. How would we go about getting a list of trading goods with the Mycenids (mushroom people)?

Also, does anyone know what tech level the Quartok are/were at?
1. you can, unknown if she is willing or even able to teach a class. One issue she could have for teaching is that she pretty much invented her own tradition, and what may work for Alpha-s with very good control does not neccecily work for anyone else
2. they have cut down on that a little, and mostly focus on the physical aspects of that (more body mods then cybernetic brains)
2a. yes
3. they are already trading what they have with you

@Durin
1. How would the Vangarian Guard (normal chapter size) compare with an equivalent Imperial chapter?
2. Have Jane/Jacob had a duel with Areatha (powers and no powers?)
3. What is the general Avernite opinion of the Nyne?
4. Has anyone mentioned the Bayou's warp rift to the Sphinx?
5. Does Lin have any theological problems to Ridcully becoming some kind of divine?

@Durin

1. Why do emotion suppressors make people into Abomination worshippers? The Abomination is a Chaos god and thus thrives on the existence of emotions, not their absence.
2. Are anti-depressant drugs pro-Abomination? If not, why?

I know the others do because emotions are part of their field (Anger,despair,lust,....insanity/scemeing...?) with (Khrone,nurgle,kalanesh,tzeetch) respectively........but thats just cause that is part of their field(s)...not cause their chaos gods specifically...

orr.....???

Chaos Gods are emotions incarnate, as are daemons. The Abomination isn't emotionlessness, it's things like zealoutry, religious fanatacism, extreme love of law and tradition (emphasis on 'love'), stuff like that.

More susceptible maybe?

More likely to just fall into the idea that the logical thing to do is just follow tradition, obey your superior without question ect?

We know that the abomination reduces a lot of its servant's free will to basically nothing. Maybe its surrendering like that is the problem?

I dunno.

Mindlessness and emotionlessness are two different things. Arco-flagellants are the former, but not the latter. They're forced to obey and have no free will, but they're mad super hyped up on emotions.

Yeah, but you can't really make someone "emotionless" in 40K. Even blanks have emotions, albeit stunted ones.

Thinking about it more, most of the admech remove certain emotions, but they can't remove all of them.

So new hypothesis, the emotion suppressors the admech use are designed to suppress things like anger (which very rarely works), but they keep emotions like faith alive and much more present and powerful in their emotional spectrum. Which leans them towards the abomination.

Yes you can. See: servitors. Emotions come from brain activity. Take away the brain activity, take away the emotions.
No, emotion and independent thought are connected, servitors make that very clear.

If you take away that independent thought you take away the emotions, but you can't take away emotion and retain independence.

1. win due to equipment and heroes despite lwoer average marine skill
2. yes, with powers Areatha wins, without Jacob can match her
3. who?
4. yes, they tell you it has been dealt with
5. no, as long as he does not start asking to be worshiped

1. it depends on their use and calling the chaos gods gods of emotion is a vast simplification, see Iron Hands and the Sapphire King
2. very slightly, though they can also be Slanesshi, Tzeenchian or neutral depending on the circumstances.

Personally, I'd rather hold off on the techbane power research. As we've tried it before failure is unlikely to reduce the time it takes to revisit it, and the success chance isn't too good with Aria. For immediate effects, I'd prefer the relatively certain boost in the coming conflict—should also increase our psyker vetrancy more going forward, which is tempting.
@Durin
1. the Formics. Sapient ants. Lulana? What do Avernites think of our most recent and currently most peaceful people species?
I think his response was in character...

Born from Ferus Manus' pain when he was getting his head chopped off and fed on the Iron Hands' repressed - but not non-existent - emotions. I don't see how that supports your argument.

@Durin I Have a few questions.

1 With the objective of preserving the Space Marine Veterans, can we try to reverse engineering the Dreadnoughts?
2 if reverse engineering the
Dreadnoughts is possible, how long until we can do it?
3 Since there is a pretty decent chance of Bjorn the Fell Handed surviving, can we divinate whether he survived or not.? If he has survived can we negotiate with the Eldar his retrieval?
4 Would the Eldar accept Avernite Psyker Materials, instead of human armies in exchange of helping us to contact with other human politics?

1. The blood dragons gave the guard the technology
3. Existant rather then decent and you can
4. Ask them
