[X] Well, okay, there's a lot of propaganda there. Including a ransom video of that kid you met in Hong Kong. Brandon Jiminez? Apparently they think he's a Technocratic spy and want to chop his head off. Why is he in Russia? From what the accusations of 'crimes' include, he was tracking you people.

We're going to have to at least make some back-door contacts with the Traditions at some point. Let's get these options open, so we can legitimately ask them some questions and do a bit of tit-for-tat info and contact trading later. Jamelia is very good at talking to people, so let's make sure that we have people to talk to later.

And then Jiminez might well have intel from the Shadow Ministry which will lead us to the attacks on TradWiki and to the Traditionalists trapped in the Spy's Demise (and the fact that Donald and Rose are with them in the message they got out), which is the favourite back-door meeting place for shady spy dealings and thus attracts Shadow Ministry people like flies to honey. Remember, they're Etherites and there were quite a few Etherites in there. So if he leads into the Spy's Demise stuff, we should be able to pick up a joint op with some Traditionalists which we justify on the grounds that we were rescuing Technocrats from the Demise and if some Traditionalists happened to be rescued at the same time, that's just the cost of saving our people.

And, you know. If the Rogue Council think he's a Technocrat spy, that's leverage Jamelia can use. Because if they think he's a Technocrat spy, then... well, doors might start closing, but the Technocracy's door is always open for a willing defector.

Sounds good to me, then.

Yeah, I was already leaning towards Brandon for establishing contacts in the Traditions, and EarthScorpion sold it pretty well.

[x] Donald calls for aid.

Come on guys. This option means that Donald and Rose didn't get killed, while their situation is much more in doubt in the other options.

I just like the guy.

Honestly, this seems the best option of the ones presented. Donald would probably have found a more certain way to get word out to us if he needed a rescue from outside, the RC going up against the Anathema directly would just give it more mages to eat and use as Paradox sinks, and the last option kicks things into open warfare before we're ready.

Look, party members just don't die offscreen. This is a trope so basic that is probably a hard physical law (Since everybody would disbelieve) in oWod. If the anathema had killed Donald offscreen, the Paradox would have destroyed Authochthon.

Oh, party members certainly could die off screen. Like, as soon as we act that "party members can't die off screen", well... that's just tempting fate.

But it'd probably require gross negligence for that to happen. Like, deliberately repeatedly passing over in-character choices (this vote isn't an in-character choice - it's an OOC choice on the intel we find), or it'd be explicitly labelled that way. And this Jiminez option has a clear narrative path for us to meet up with Donald and Rose.

It's Jiminez -> Shadow Ministry contacts -> TradWiki links -> Spy's Demise. So it's not like we're really neglecting them.

I'm leaning this way, but I think it's worth noting that Mr. Jiminez seems to have his own plot thread following us. In fact, I have expect that the result for not voting this way is more likely that he hasn't been caught and is still looking for us. So it should be noted that this may effectively be an [] expend quantum narrative Brandom Jiminez option, since I'm very nearly positive he's going to show up at some point before the end.

First, I'm not convinced he is. This sort of OOC choice defines the world around us. Heck - some *IC* choices define the world around us.

Second, even if it is, putting him in a place where he can hand us useful intel and is also *well*-positioned to be turned to the Technocracy? That honestly seems like a fairly *good* use of quantum narrative Brandon Jiminez.

I'd be more sympathetic to the viewpoint that this is our only chance to interact with if he hadn't been a viewpoint character already. Like, it's possible that he could never appear again, but that would seem to violate conservation of narrative detail.

Yes, this is why I'm leaning towards the choice. @EarthScorpion mentioned at one point that conserving a quantum narrative option just to conserve it, or on the hope that it will build up to something more useful isn't how these options work.

ES makes some good points and I want to find out what's going on with our Shadow Ministry agent here.

Also, Kessler has to be the one to defeat the Anathema in an epic one on one duel.
