[X] (1.5x) Fall back to the armory, get some Etherite weapons and gear, and see if you can push the attack that way.
[X] Play defensively. Stealth around, see if you can't avoid her.

The good Doctor is a Mage even our main party would have trouble with. The Expendabros are way out of their league. Fall back and find some more serious hardware to fight back with.

[X] (3.0x) Stall for time. Pump yourself up and hope she doesn't decide the fight while you're doing so.

Does Kessler have high enough Spirit and Forces to ask the bits of him that help him operate in radioactive environments (I'm assuming he has some) to work some overtime and keep the atomic death rays off?

So... I'm thinking "run away and lure out onto the deck of the ship where a) Kessler is in the odd situation of not being the highest Perma dox person around so is better off with onlookers than her, and b) they can have their fight among the Ragnarok bombardment which can be thrown at Ms Uranium Skull" [1].

[1] Her armour may well be made out of Uranium, which is very dense and radioactive and thus logically strong against Technocratic primon-based radiophobic technology because it interferes with the primions in their tools. Radiation can be used to neutralise primions, don't you know? [2]

[2] Henriette: "No! I don't know! Because that's self-evidently bullshit! Fucking Etherites! At least the Hermetics make sense."

Isn't deliberately provoking Paradox a terrible idea?

Kessler isn't the one walking around with (Arete x Willpower) successes of stacked successes using a paradigm which runs into problems when the world broadly says "nuclear technology isn't safe unless it's very carefully controlled".

'Dox is one of those big balancing factors on "I stack all the successes on ALL THE EFFECTS". Why wouldn't you get her out of her nice safe NUCLEAR paradigm vessel into the nasty mean world which says "Uh, no" to that?

Because our guys could easily get caught in the ensuing detonation.

[X] Fall back to the armoury, try to get some Etherite weapons and gear, and see if you can push the attack that way.

We're going to want that gear for when we head into space.

This seems to be our most sensible option. God help us all.

Kessler's Finest Hour:
[X] (1.5x) Retreat!
-> [X] To the deck, in order to take advantage of the dox.

The Expendables:
[X] (1.5x) Fall back to the armory, get some Etherite weapons and gear, and see if you can push the attack that way.

People should probably consider combat buffs though. It's nice having a decision but you may need to take precautions to make sure you can survive long enough for it to work.

And also convince Dr. Grey that she should take this course of action. She's inexperienced, not stupid.

Freeform magic is so not my forte.

Uhhh, hmm. What would be useful for Kessler here? More Soak? Autosuccesses on Firearms? Dodge DV buffing? The suit probably offers some foci for those kinds of effects by itself, and he does have all those awakened Spirits in his combat chassis... though our plan also means we really need to avoid eating any more Paradox than necessary.

Depends on how you want to accomplish your goal and with what. Survival is probably important if you want to drag her out into the open, while if you're looking for an opening you might want some offense as well.

50 successes worth of combat buffs can go a long way. The trick is surviving long enough to get them up-or to get Grey in a place where she can't maintain her giant pile of successes.

Well, at the very least:

Matter - deploy a diamandoid hexagonal lattice plating from the N2, layered with dense metallic nanostructures forming metamaterial layers. This hardened, self-healing reflective layer will serve to reflect gamma radiation and will ablate-then-heal when hit with alpha, beta or neutron radiation. Fortunately, this can be stacked up over multiple turns as the N2 adds more and more material to the lattice.

This has the side effect of making the N2 shiny and 50s spacefuturey and looking vaguely like it's been wrapped in aluminium foil.

(More things will be needed.)

Spirit - With such an unstable EDE in here, bound into all these systems which use human brains for computing and fused with them... well, they're shedding radiation all over the place. That entire system is going to be unstable. They might be spirit-posessed, but the human brain is still material and has problems with bremsstrahlung scattering off all these dense shielding elements. And being boiled in their floating tanks by radiation heating. If there starts being some radiation leaks - perhaps because someone starts tossing grenades all over the place - all these brain-matter computers which Dr Frieger is inhabiting are going to start dying. And keep on dying as long as the system is irradiated. They'd have to stop all the leaks he caused, or shut down the radiation sources to stop him frying. Kessler will as a focus cause damage to the systems in here, tossing explosives around BROFORCE style, and then cast a Spirit effect on Dr Frieger so he takes damage from environmental damage sources as a human in this area would.

This should infuriate Dr Grey enough over the damage to her husBRAINdo that she'll not be thinking entirely clearly when she goes to kill the Technocracy assassin. And also hurt Dr Frieger. That helps too. Maybe.

Obviously, this is the last thing Kessler does. Possibly terminally, if he hasn't prepped enough defences by then.

... Huh. Threadmarks thing is cool.

Mmm... Does Kessler have the Correspondance or the Entropy for an "easy escape" Rote? Something like "combining combat data and updated blueprints from Expendabros with hyperstatistical modeling to punch up to the deck by the fastest route with the fewest obstacles"?

John Kessler, 90s Superhero.
Virtue/Vice:
Bravo/Expert. He is a warrior-hero who fights for justice, but when the chips are down he has to resist showing off his expertise.

Notable Traits:
Expert in all forms of combat, armed or unarmed
Extremely heavy cybernetic augmentation results in immense strength and durability
Immune to small arms fire, resistant to light vehicle weaponry
Personal armament: X14A Thunderhead Heavy Machine Gun
Mental instability: Cannot adapt to modern times (still thinks it's the 80s)
May use either mysticism or enlightened science
Enlightened Science/Magic:
Enlightenment 5/Arete 5
Forces 3
Life 2
Matter 3 (f)
Prime 2
Spirit 3 (f) (Magical)
No, but he has the forces to do a hard escape.

(More things will be needed.)
Matter 2, Forces 2 - the N2's armor augmentation tenses the suit's CNT myomers in opposition to diamond hardness. This is suboptimal, as it burns power and makes graceful movement difficult. Kessler can exploit the tactical precog to locally harden the armor the instant a kinetic impactor (such as a fist or bullet) strikes, redirecting the force back to the attacker.

Spirit ? - Noble November's AI is clearly EDE-derived--Kessler can feel it. With a little coaxing, its cyberwarfare suite should be enough to wrest control of the RD's computer system. The radiation damage will have corroded the brains' firewalls and degraded the neural networking, preventing it from bringing the full might of its superior processing power in its defense.

Kessler's an 80's action hero. Both combatants are much more machine than meat. Scenery is expendable. Ham is mandatory.
-Forces 3: Kessler has shiny-advanced armor and is stupidly durable on his own. Even better, he's an 80's Action Hero! Abuse his Blatancy and tune his inertial dampeners and kinetic absorbers to absorb attacks which would do significant damage, converting it into motion away from the damage source. Because one super-strong bionic punching another will obviously result in one of them going flying! And Atomic Death Rays should cause explosions which send the target flying! (Forces 3, converts energy from damaging attacks into knockback.)

Also, abusing the armor's Overcharge function as well as its other enhancements is a very good plan. Enhanced speed/strength, mental enhancements, tactical precog and weak-point-finding...

Finally, does Kessler have the Barnes-Sykes combat knife? Because I can't think of a better person to have it on them at the moment. (Other than possibly Jamelia-in-the-Umbra...)
