The Slave Who Makes Free: An Anakin Skywalker Quest

[X] Search your feelings. You know it to be true.
Aside from the Ferus duel, I like the bits seen here of the other initiates' lives and fears. Tru being inquisitive, Bode being slippery, Iskat's closed off mind, Darra's fear of conflict. There's a lot being bared here and the coming conflict will test them all.

I really like that Anakin is not 'super lightsaber fighter' here

We blew off a little dark side steam, hopefully. So maybe it'll count for something in terms of giving us more of a breather before we're pushed to making another bad choice, or risk exploding.

That said, the dark side option infront of the Council humanised them to Anakin, for lack of a better term. They looked less like a monolith, and they were given sommthing to think on.

And in this update:
Still expressionless, he resumes his stance. But as you cross blades one more time, you realize:

Something is wrong with the Force.

The first time you reached for it you touched endlessness, and some part of that endlessness has always been with you, before and since. But now…maybe it's the toxic emotions you're dredging up in this duel, but it feels like a darkness is creeping in at the edges of your vision, like a drop of blood diffusing in crystal-clear water.
If this doesn't just mean 'Anakin is experiencing the dark side' but instead is referring to Palpatine clouding the force or similar, then that might be a useful fact/data point.

That exchange between Serra and Iskat was honestly a high point for me. Serra's really trying...perhaps a bit too hard. Its vaguely amusing, seeing these little bits of enmity grow. Truth Hurts indeed.

Its interesting how naturally the characters from Legends and Discanon meld together.

[X] No…that's not true. That's impossible!
I know this is the choice that leads to the dark side and wouldn't have voted for it if the other vote wasn't wining by a landslide, buttttt Ferus Olin can go suck a lemon.

[X] No…that's not true. That's impossible!

Darkness allows us to understand others, to see what they value when they believe no one else is looking. It allows us to be honest with ourselves, to express those values that we would disavow in the light.

While I like the chance at introspection, I REALLY hope this vote winning turns around and lays into Ferus. Very politely and precisely, but his fear leaves him in need of a reminder that self-absorption and hypocrisy are hiltless double-edged blades.

When you grow up as a slave the taste of freedom is heady indeed. Who wouldn't want to spread it? Who wouldn't want to war and rage and tear through the bastards holding the whips and detonators?

We know where they are, we know what we can do, why shouldn't we do it?

Who has the right to stop us, to tell us no? Who has the audacity to claim that anyone being in chains for another moment is something we should tolerate?

Are we not the Chosen One? Do we not have divine providence, the force itself at our beck and call?

Do we not deserve it? Nay for deserve is the wrong word.

Is it not our duty?

[X] No…that's not true. That's impossible!

I think this is a great time to vent our Stress, actually. That doesn't mean Anakin won't realize it's true - Luke realized the truth after denying it, and so can Anakin. And more importantly, this isn't a life-or-death situation, meaning while it'll cause some hurt feelings, it's safe for Anakin to let his Stress out. Mechanics aside, Anakin is a young kid who's just been accused of being a future tyrant. It's absolutely in character for him to be really super upset about it, and not so much to calmly go into introspection.
