What is Fate? (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Quest)

Your fate determined, cure or casket:
So I do think this is about blossoms legs but it's interesting because it doesn't have to be, you don't 'cure' destroyed legs you fix them. Either way it says the fate of whomever is already decided so either they'll be 'cured' or they will die.
A mother's gift shall be your guide:
Just a thought but whoever said it has to any of our mothers? It could be any mother, mortal or divine that leads us where we need. Also a (interesting/terrifying) thought, mother Earth gave that eagle as a gift to Zeus.
Gratitude, Cheer, Faith, and Purity coincide
No real clue but it could be spirits/whatever that just have those name that we run across, after all remember Echo? Who's to say they couldn't be similar.
And one shall succumb to the flowers' curse:
I'm putting my drachma on lotus eaters but that's probably just me.

Okay, I'm definitely on board with the impress the Eagle so we get a ride through Flyover Country.
This is making more sense as we go through.

I certainly hope so, that's not even that bad.

Edit:
That said, controlling the Earth just makes that much more sense. The Eagle was a gift from Gaia, Geokinesis would definitely win us points.

Soooooooo, we will play with him? Sam did said:
When you look back at the eagle, you make your decision and start calling upon your powers, infusing the grass around you with your power. As you look into the eagle's eyes once more, you see something new form in them. Anticipation.
Sounds like we will play Whack-a-mole, the problem though is...we are the mole. If we, a 10 year old survive against him he MAY be impressed enough to give us a ride to where the hell we are supposed to go.

Which is why need to get Kurt and Blossom away from the action, we're the one getting tested. They're just along for the ride (double meaning intended).

Gratitude, Cheer, Faith, and Purity coincide:
I'm thinking the Graces. They're Aphrodite's attendants, right?
And one shall succumb to the flowers' curse:
Pollen alergies. It's definitely pollen alergies. (Narcisus, Lotus notwithstanding)

Let's find out, shall we?

The eagle descends and uses the wind to push us back.

When we work out it's challenging us, the first thing it does is blast Blossom back. It doesn't harm her, it aims it's lightning to such a degree that Blossom is only hit with the knockback.

It's got human-level intelligence.

When we get ready to fight, the eagle starts to feel better, anticipation drowning out the annoyance.

The eagle isn't flying away or even moving, it's just sitting there. Menacingly.

Alright, now let me try to bundle this all up into a cohesive narrative.

I believe that the test here is to get up on the eagle's back, and if we succeed we get a free ride, while if we fail we get nothing. The intelligent eagle only uses effects that knock us back during it's introduction, despite being capable of a full party wipe via lightning strikes. It's annoyed and displeased when it first does this, but then begins to feel anticipation when we get ready for a fight. This suggests a warrior being annoyed at being forced to "play-fight" some kids who then sees that they might get some semblance of a real battle after all. It stays on the ground, within reach of all of us, presumably because the test calls for us being physically capable of climbing on to it.

And we've gotta remember, while Zeus is a dick, We Are Not Percy. Zeus absolutely hated Percy because of the circumstances of his birth, and so was a net zero or even negative influence on pretty much all the canon quests. Meanwhile, Zeus DOESN'T hate us. And Zeus generally isn't malicious towards people he doesn't hate. He's a God of Justice after all, can't punish people if they haven't done anything wrong. So my guess is that he sent this eagle as a form of aid for the group of 12 year olds that may or may not contain the subject of the Great Prophecy. If we are said subject then Zeus sent the eagle as a way to make sure we choose to preserve Olympus, if we're not then he gave a ragtag group of 12 year olds a better chance to complete their quest to heal their friend and gets to feel morally superior.

With that said, I'm going for this:
[X][Eagle's Test] Control as much grass as you can, enhance it with as many attributes as you can, and charge the Eagle.
It it obvious to me that the eagle wants to play Angry Birds with us. Winner takes all.

Edit: @Monk Penguin
Are we ever going to be able to see the stats of some of the secondary characters?

I may give the levels of specific skills (Untrained, Apprentice, Intermediate, Advanced, Mastered) for characters that you have a chance to witness in action, like Blossom and Kurt on this quest, but I'm not sure where to put them in terms of informational posts. I'm open to suggestions.

EDIT: I plan on updating/populating it once at the end of each major event. Quests will naturally have a higher frequency of those.

I'm putting my drachma on lotus eaters but that's probably just me.
This would have been more possible if you ended up anywhere near NV.

I will say, about the test, that there's more than one solution. I won't say whether or not anyone's guessed any of them so far, since there haven't exactly been a lot of guesses.

Considering that the curse stopping magical healing is the only reason the Apollo cabin couldn't heal her legs, cure is definitely an appropriate word here.

And do you mean that we can't change whether Blossom is cured or killed? Because as I read it, it simply states that her fate is determined to be "cure or casket", i.e. Fate decreed that there is no third option but both cure and casket can still happen.

So far, I've seen the following interpretations of "one shall succumb to the flowers' curse"
  • We follow the cunning hero archetype of greek legend spearheaded by Theseus, by forcing the prophecy to be fulfilled in a trivial way (mentioned example: pet caterpillar called "One" eating poisonous flowers)
  • We shift the tone of the quest towards comedy so that a tragic end of one of the characters would be unfitting (mentioned examples: loosing a member to gambling addiction in the lotus flower casino in Vegas; pollen allergy)
  • Allegorical interpretation and word play (mentioned example: lotus eaters)
  • Tree-ification similar to Thalia's fate (mentioned by the Athena counsellor)
  • Empathic hero archetype with self-sacrificial undertones (mentioned example: Spend the winter keeping our sister Persephone company, thus sharing in her curse to stay in the underworld)
  • Blossom's name references a flower, so the curse on her legs might get worse in some way. She succumbs and we need to drag her through the rest of the quest without losing the four listed graces of Gratitude, Cheer, Faith, and Purity.

The ground opened up underneath you, and you fell.
Nowhere does it state that the ground was opened up by an enemy. Since I doubt Monk Penguin predicted that we'd try to branch out into geomancy, my guess is that this is Hades essentially inviting us to visit Persephone.

@Monk Penguin, if we want Sam to consider certain possibilities (not acting on them, merely being aware that it's possible), do we need to vote them in as part of a plan or is it enough to discuss something like the above interpretation of the vision?
@Monk Penguin, just in case you overlooked it since you already responed to later posts...

Eh I'll admit I'm fairly fatalistic in this quest cause of the setting, so to me it's guaranteed that one or the other will happen and it's already been chosen by The Fates which it'll be but I could be wrong so eh.

Id argue that you break a curse and that cure still doesn't work but I do get what your saying and don't really feel like this particular bit of wording is worth arguing over. (The setting is pretty much the only reason any wording is worth fighting about tbh.)

[X][Eagle's Test] Ask Kurt about a plant symbol of Zeus.
-[Eagle's Test]If he says the oak, create a giant oak with Macro-Chlorokinesis and the concept of Size (and Plan Modification if we must). Then say to the eagle that the oak is a gift for Lord Zeus.
--[Eagle's Test] If we can't create a real oak, we make a fake with other plant and grass and says that it's a gift for Lord Zeus
--[Eagle's Test] We try to use our power to form a barrier around us in the case we're attack by the eagle.
-[Eagle's Test]If he panics and say he can't remember or just doesn't know, we use our plant to creat huge shield between the eagle and us and retreat to the trees with Blossom and Kurt (ask Kurt to help Blossom).

I'm gonna laugh if Kurt says the wrong plant and we're just standing there with a giant cactus like a jackass.

Yeah, the oak thing is a bit too meta for my tastes. I feel like the MC would be more likely to go for a pine tree due to Talia than an oak.

More alarming, is that it seems displeased or annoyed. By what? You aren't sure.

Well, our friend didn't seem to bow to the Eagle, but it is still just focusing on us.

Gratitude, Cheer, Faith, and Purity coincide:

Does Blossom resent Aphrodite? Of course she does, but like especially so. So much so that Aphrodite would purposefully keep a curse on her kid or deny her protection?

Because she doesn't have much of any of these traits, at least not in regards to her mother. Maybe she needs some kind of emotional breakthrough before she can get any support? "Learn to love the goddess of love"?
I honestly have no clue.

Didn't we have the thought that some or all of these were supposed to be flowers? Don't know what the flowers were for this, but that's one way that line works out

Just a thought but whoever said it has to any of our mothers? It could be any mother, mortal or divine that leads us where we need. Also a (interesting/terrifying) thought, mother Earth gave that eagle as a gift to Zeus.

The Eagle is a mother's gift!?

We're definitely supposed to ride the Eagle. Or at least, that's what would happen in a PJO book with Annabeth providing commentary and if Percy wasn't on the quest.

I do think that the Eagle is the mother's gift, and that it wants to fight. So if we tried diplo again, it'll probably zap us. Also, I think Geomancy is cool.

[X][Eagle's Test] By yourself, attempt to focus the attention of the Eagle onto yourself.

Wait. I have the perfect solution: If it's a giant bird, make a giant wooden birdcage around it. It's a flawless plan! Just bend a few trees, and voilá. Eagle trapped.

WAIT I FIGURED IT OUT! WHAT WOULD ZEUS DO!?
[jk][Eagle's Test] Use your power to make a large nest and get in it, then attempt to seduce the bird!
