What is Fate? (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Quest)

@Monk Penguin, I don't know if this has been asked yet, but what's the preference on plan voting. Personally, I really dislike it, as it kind of discourages discussion and often derails voting. It's like someone voting straight down the party line in an election. It's easy to just say, well that's close enough, I'll pick that, instead of thinking things through and making your own choices. Plan voting also holds disproportionate weight since a handful of people supporting a plan can easily win when everyone else are voting with minutely different choices in their voting block. Just wondering if there was an official stance.

Honestly, I agree with you that it reduces discussion, but I don't think that outright banning it (or saying that your vote won't count if it's a plan) would really affect it too much. If you agree with the whole plan, then you're just going to copy and paste it. I've done this before, and I'm sure others have as well. Forcing people to do that might result in people making minor changes towards their own preference, but it also might simply result in less people voting. There's no easy solution per se.

So I guess I'd say that the official stance is that plan voting is allowed, though not required unless specifically stated so in the update.

We haven't been told to vote by plan, but rather voting by plan has not been banned.

And "voting down the line" is extremely common even when you don't have plan voting. Ever notice how you get lots of people voting for the exact same thing even if it isn't a plan?

Players have limited time and effort to spend on all of the quests they follow. It's not reasonable to expect high intensity discussion in every quest, nor is it correct to blame it all on plan voting.

Lack of driving conflict with voting options is what reduces discussion intensity the most, which is just highly correlated with a good plan posted early on.

Hey QM, can we ask Chiron if he can give us something that can make people clear-sighted or something?

You decide that giving them a bit of a scare is a good way to go about it. Now, who to target. The people in the big circle are right out, there's no way you could get just one of them without someone else noticing. The patrol, on the other hand, now that's an easy target.

You sneak up on them as best you can, which is not particularly stealthy, but they're also not particularly aware of their surroundings either, so it balances out. As one of them turns away, you imbue the trees around you with speed and then have them wrap around your target, pulling him away and covering his mouth simultaneously. The intricate manipulation needed to trap him, combined with the pulling motion while avoiding making too much noise actually makes for a pretty difficult task. It's not out of your capabilities, but you can say that it's good practice. You have the roots hand him off to some branches, and keep him tied up there. Technically, that's against the rules, but you recently learned that the punishment is a week without dessert, which is really no punishment at all.

The other Aphrodite patrol kid turns around and finds her partner missing. She doesn't appear too alarmed, after all, people don't just disappear, so she probably thinks he's wandered off.

"Cam? Where'd you go?" she calls into the forest, which gives you plenty of time to move around her and imbue the plants behind her with speed as well.

"This isn't funny, you know. What if I come across a monster?" She won't because you've ensured that this area is free of monsters. You don't like them, but you don't actually want them to die. Still, you get a bit of gleeful satisfaction when the roots of the tree wrap around her legs and yank her backward in typical horror movie style. She shrieks before you can cover her mouth, which was not planned, though it will allow you to speed up the next part of this plan, rather than wait for them to wonder where the patrol went.

By the time you make your way back to the Aphrodite campsite, the other campers have split up into three groups of three, and are making their way out into the forest to look for their fellow cabin mates. Unless they look up in the trees, or your captives manage to make noises past the gag loud enough for them to hear, they won't find anything.

That they are splitting up is both convenient and inconvenient for you. It's convenient in that attempting to pick them off in a group is basically impossible, and it's inconvenient in that their three-man squads are essentially designed so that they can watch each other's backs.

You follow one of the groups away from their campsite. This one doesn't have their counselor, a girl whose name you don't know, and contains 2 girls and a boy, all three with swords at the ready. None of them are wearing helmets, which just means that it's that much easier for you to gag them when you catch them.

You follow them until you think they're a good enough distance away from their starting position, and then you start imbuing the trees all around them with speed. You decide that this time you'll do something even more challenging. You're going to grab all three of them at the same time. Before you can start, you step on a branch, which immediately puts all three of them on high alert. Unfortunately, it also means that all of them turn to face where the noise came from, which makes picking off the back two people easily. As they're being gagged by tree roots, one of them manages to make a muffled "MMMM!" noise, which causes the last member of their squad to turn around and see them get dragged off into the trees.

As she attempts to shout and warn the other groups of what's going on, you manage to get a tree branch to cover her mouth, suppressing the warning she was about to give out. In short order, the three of them are tied up, gagged, and suspended in trees. The tree you're hanging the last girl in has a dryad pop out of it as you do so. She looks curiously up at the half-blood now hanging from her branches, before shrugging, giving you a jaunty wave and slipping back into her tree. That seems like permission, so you're just going to roll with it.

The next group you go after has the counselor with them. She's a statuesque blonde with blue eyes, and she seems to be the most competent out of her cabin. This is evidenced by the fact that she spots you as you're in between hiding places and before you can pull off your trap. You didn't even do something conspicuous like step on a branch this time. Admittedly, your stealth isn't exactly great, and you were getting a bit cocky so you had strayed closer to them than you probably should have, but you still didn't think they'd catch you.

Regardless, even though they know now what's going on, there's very little that can change the outcome of what's about to happen. Counselor-girl might be competent enough to take you on in a sword-fight, but it's pretty much impossible to avoid a bunch of trees in the middle of the forest. As the trees gag and restrain them, the counselor manages to shout "SAM!" loud enough that the last group probably heard her. Technically there's more than one Sam in Camp Half-Blood, but you're really the most notable Sam out of all of them, which makes it pretty clear who she's referring to.

Even though they know you're coming, they can't run, since you're faster in a forested environment than them, and they can't hide or set up an ambush against you since you can tell where they are just by feeling the plants around them as they make their way through the forest. Then again, you're pretty sure neither of those is common knowledge. Judging by the way they're starting to set up an ambush for you, you'd be right.

You decide since they know you're coming, that you should change up your tactics. Rather than simply abduct them as fast as you can with speed plants, you start imbuing the trees around them with durability and have the roots start encroaching on their position. It takes them a few moments to even notice it's happening, but by the time they do, you've already gotten the branches started on hemming them in. This last group is two boys and a girl, they look nervous as the trees creep closer to them, but at least they're not screaming like that one girl, you'll give them that. As a branch comes particularly close to the older boy, he swings at it with his sword. It bites into the tree branch before stopping.

You're both surprised by this outcome. You, because you'd thought that it would just bounce off the branch, and him because he'd thought it would cut clean through. You'll have to keep that in mind for later. You continue encroaching on their space until they're well and truly up against each other, then you have the roots start slowly creeping up their legs, obscuring the limbs as they climb.

Their terror is interrupted by horn sounding, signifying the end of capture the flag. You set about freeing the various Aphrodite cabin members, who either glare daggers at you or shrink away in terror, with the balance leaning towards the latter reaction.

At breakfast Saturday morning, the Aphrodite counselor, whose name you still don't know, complains about your actions to Chiron and Mr. D. Chiron looks at you curiously, while Mr. D, well…

"Are any of your children permanently injured, dead?" he asks her.

"No," she grinds out.

"Well, then Sandy Wilder's actions seem like a bit of harmless fun. He did, of course, break the rules, which will result in a revocation of his desert priveledges for the rest of the week."

"But-"

"Is that acceptable?" he asks in a tone that says 'If it's not, I'm going to turn you into a lizard.'

"Yes," she says submissively.

Blossom, well, she tries to be disapproving when the story spreads about camp, but she can't quite seem to manage it over her shaking laughter.

"Did… Did you really hang them up in trees like a group of live-action scare-crows?" she asks, trying to suppress her laughter.

"You know, I didn't actually think about it that way," you tell her dryly.

"What would have happened if they had found each other? I mean, can you imagine?" she breaks off into giggles.

"I imagine they would have freaked out and started screaming their heads off."

Blossom continues to giggle. You can't help but join in with a quiet laugh of your own.

"You didn't have to do that, you know? I mean, you got in trouble, sort of, because of me, and-"

"I did have to do it," you interrupt her, "because you're my best friend, and anyone that treats you that way has to go through me," you state matter-of-factly.

"I… thanks. You're like the little brother I never had," she confesses.

Well, isn't that a loaded statement. You wonder if you just got sibling-zoned, but then again, she's 5 years older than you, not to mention that you're not even old enough to be physically interested in girls. You decide you're ok with being Blossom's little brother.

"Thanks. You make a good big sister yourself."

She sighs dramatically. "Now I've signed myself up to help you get out of all the trouble you're inevitably going to get yourself caught up in."

"Hey!"

You punch her lightly on the arm, which causes her to bust out in another fit of giggles.

You're pretty sure the Aphrodite kids stopped messing with Blossom, if not altogether, then in any way that is worth acting on. In addition, Lily started inviting her over to sit with the Demeter cabin for meals, something that, while rare, was not unheard of. All in all, you're just glad Blososm's feeling better about herself.

ΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔ

Teaching Rosie how to manipulate plants is difficult. You're not sure whether you're a bad teacher or she's a bad student, but the answer is probably that both are true. You struggle to explain your methods in enough detail for her to understand, and a lot of the time it ends up being "I get it, why don't you?" On the flip-side, Rosie is seemingly unable to take your various (possibly poor) explanations and piece them together into something she understands. What this means is that any time she experiences difficulty, it's either solved right away, or her progress hits a wall where you try and fail several times to explain to her what's going wrong.

A good example is your current situation.

"What do you mean 'Just make your intentions clear to the plant?' I'm trying to do that already, and it's just not working?"

"Are you sure you're projecting your intentions clearly?"

"I'm not sure how much clearer I can get. Should I start yelling at it?" She's clearly getting annoyed. You might need to end this session soon.

"How are you doing it, are you maybe acting annoyed with it? Are you trying to force it? It probably won't like that."

"It's a plant."

"Yes, and we're demigods, practicing magical plant powers. What's your point?"

She rewards you with an exasperated sigh. "Ok, then how should I communicate my intentions?"

"You need to be firm, and maybe a little forceful, but not too much, and remember to be clear."

"I will." You can hear the eye roll in that statement.

It takes her a couple of tries, and then she successfully gets the plant to grow in the direction she wants it to. At least this didn't take as long as it did to get her to focus on a single plant.

You decide to take the silvery dogwood-like flower back to your cabin. You'd like to see if you can try and grow more of them, and the Demeter cabin is full of your own magic, along with your half-sisters, making it the best place you can think of to try your hand at growing it.

You do your best to hide the magical plant from prying eyes as you hurry it back to the cabin, only taking it out fully when you're inside. To your surprise, Violet is inside, doing a bit of reading. Violet doesn't usually spend much time in the cabin since being a child of Demeter naturally makes you outdoorsy, and she expresses that more strongly than the rest of the cabin.

"Whatcha got there?" she asks, eyeing up the silver and gold bloom in your hands.

"It's a gift, from the dryads in the forest. I tend to spend my weekends out there helping them out."

She gives you a look like you just said you spend your free time being part of a cult, but quickly returns to the flower. "What does it do?"

"I have no idea. I'm trying to see if I can grow more of them," you tell her. You move towards your own bunk and try planting the flower into some soil. A bit of magic telling it to grow, and it grows roots down into the pot. Then, you try pushing it to grow larger.

Nothing happens.

You try harder. Nothing happens. You're gearing up to try again before you feel Violet's magic brush up against your own in the flower. You turn around to face her and she looks sheepish.

"Sorry, I thought you hadn't started yet and I wanted to take a look at it."

"It's ok."

You turn back and try pushing as much magic as you can muster into the flower. Nothing. You grimace.

"Do you want some help with it?" Violet asks.

"Yeah, if you're up for it."

You start pushing magic into the flower, and Violet joins you. You're momentarily surprised by how strong the force of her magic is, but the flower appears unaffected. When you both stop, you give her a sharp glance.

"I didn't know you were so good at this."

"Yeah, it's pretty hard to tell when we're just chucking our power out among the strawberries, but in terms of raw growing power, I'm second only to Lily. Control is Willow's thing, though, which means it's not exactly reliable for a fight."

"That's fair… Hey, how come Lily seems to be the best at everything."

"What? Aiming to take that position for yourself?" she guesses correctly. "For one, Willow's been at camp longer than the rest of us. Plus, she went on a quest, and that's the kind of experience that not everybody gets."

"Back to this flower, do you think she could help?"

Violet gives the plant a calculating gaze. "I say we get everybody together."

After dinner that night, the six members of the Demeter cabin gather around the flower. You've already told them how you got it, which gets Kalina to once again complain about how the dryads never want to talk to her. Then, you get started.

With all of you pouring magic into the little thing, it actually starts to noticeably grow. Despite that, the pace at which it grows is agonizingly slow. You're still thinking back to when you got it to grow roots and how easy that was. It almost seems like you imagined it compared to what's going on now.

Rosie and Willow end up dropping out first in the group, the former flopping down on her bed while the latter just leans against a bedpost as she sits on the floor. Next is Kalina, who gives you an aggrieved expression that almost causes you to lose concentration. After that is you, which you are a little surprised by. You'd have thought that all that time practicing your chlorokinesis would have given you pretty good stamina, but maybe age plays some part as well? Finally, Violet and Lily end up giving up as well. At the end of the wholly unpleasant experience. The flower has grown a couple of inches and a few leaves. From the look of it, it's going to grow into a tree rather than a smaller plant, which somewhat explains the amount of magic it absorbed, but you can tell that your sisters aren't going to be willing to do that again any time soon

For now, you decide that you'll just let it grow on its own, feeding off of the ambient magic of the cabin.

ΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔ

"I'll go with Kalina, to the cabins."

Kalina and Violet both nod, then Violet heads off to reinforce the patrol.

You lead the way back to the cabin, as Kalina is the superior ranged combatant. You only come across two lamia on the way over. Both of them are dispatched by a few celestial-bronze-tipped arrows to the center of mass. When you get to the cabins, you see that it's the place where most of the fighting is happening. The majority of campers tend to hang around here during the mornings, and the lamia are targeting them, meaning that most of them ended up around here.

Kalina spies Lily, and you head over to where she's firing arrows from a bow made of white wood. She's not wearing a quiver or pulling arrows from anywhere you can see.

"Violet went to help the patrol. Where are Rosie and Willow?" Kalina asks as she readies her own bow.

"Willow's at the Big House, so she's probably fine. I have no idea where Rosie is, but it's probably safer than here. We need to clear this out before we can go looking for them."

"I'll use plants to harry them while you two fire, ok?" you suggest

"Sounds good," Lily agrees.

You set about setting many plant-based snares and traps to slow them down as Lily and Willow take them out with their bows. You could probably start imbuing the grass with concepts, but judging by the waves of lamia just keep coming, you would tire yourself out far too quickly, even with your improved efficiency in chlorokinesis.

At some point, Sean and some of the other Apollo kids join your firing line. You start growing barriers to herd the lamia towards the death-lane. Despite having human features, the majority of the lamia don't seem too intelligent. They're almost animalistic. A few of them seem to be more intelligent than the rest, and those are the ones that attempt to circumvent your traps. You don't see what happens to them, but you can feel as the magic holding together their form dissolves and their spirit is sent back to Tartarus.

As the waves of lamia subside, Sean speaks up. "Monsters wouldn't invade in this number unless something was up." He turns to the three of you, but mostly to you. He examines you critically. "You did good, kid." Then he gathers his cabin mates and goes off to clear out the rest of the lamia.

"We're going to the Arts and Crafts Center," Lily tells the two of you. "Rosie spends a lot of time there with Blossom, so that's where I think she'll be."

As you walk over there, crossing the small bridge over the creek, you see that the majority of the lamia have been dealt width. You don't see anyone who died, but you can't shake the feeling that somebody has. You just hope it's not Blossom or Rosie.

Thankfully, when you do get to the Arts and Crafts center, Blossom and Rosie are there, alive, along with Jordan and the other Athena kids who were there when the attack happened. When they see you, they come up to you. Lily immediately goes full mother hen on the two of them, making sure they're ok.

"We're fine, Rosie managed to keep most of them away by tying up their tails in the grass," Blossom complains.

"Yeah," Rosie grins, "I did!"

You chatter together cheerfully on the walk back to the cabin.

When you get there, things take a more somber turn. It turns out two of the border patrol members died in the attack. You didn't know either of them, though you learn that one of them was an Ares camper, and the other was an unclaimed camper.

Over the next few days, both the Ares and Hermes cabins made shrouds for their fallen members, and when they were complete, there was a somber funeral held, where the bodies were cremated. Chiron, Justin, and the Hermes head counselor spoke, though you didn't really hear the words. It just felt rather surreal to you. You'd known, intellectually at least, that half-bloods had a low life expectancy, but you hadn't, in either of your lives, experienced the reality of death so viscerally.

ΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔ

You tried to spend the majority of your time in the following weeks with at least one other person, usually Willow or Rosie, as you were teaching them.

Willow made the most progress, largely because, as Lily said, you two were very similar, both in the way you understood and approached problems and in the way that you learned. Willow, like you, worked best when she had received a thorough explanation first, and then attempted the practical application second.

Thus, on the last Wednesday of August, she finally had a breakthrough. You had spent the previous weeks explaining concepts to her and letting her feel when you imbued a plant. She had initially wanted to try with speed, but she seemed to struggle with the concept a lot, causing her to swap to durability. Regardless of that, she struggled with the same thing you did, that the plants you tried out simply couldn't hold the concept. You had suggested using the willow flowers growing near her bunk, but they didn't seem to work either. At this point, you were half tempted to let her try her work on the bloom that you'd received from the dryads, but you only had one, and you didn't want it to randomly die on you.

"Come on! You have to see this!" Which is why it's a surprise when Willow drags you to a tree near the edge of the forest to show you what she's accomplished. When she gets there, she takes a moment to catch her breath and then says, "Watch!"

Then, she starts using her magic on the tree. You observer with your own as best you can. After a few moments, you feel something click, for lack of a better word, within the tree. It's different than any concept you've done, so you can't figure out exactly what she's imbued it with. Still, you're mostly shocked that she has the capability to do this at all.

"Great Job! What did you imbue it with?"

"Durability. Can't you tell?"

"No, though now that I know…" you take a second look, and it certainly does affect durability. It's just different from your own concept of durability. You try pushing against it, then kicking it lightly, while examining it with your own plant sense.

It takes you a few minutes of this examination, and also you need to try your own durability concept on a nearby plant, but you figure out the difference. Your durability concept involves resisting the impact, negating it. Hers focuses on absorbing the impact, spreading around its force and generally making the attack weaker. They are different, and effective in different ways. Her way is certainly better against stronger attacks, whereas your own is better against many weaker attacks.

"It's definitely different," you say. You explain the differences you've observed to her.

"That's interesting," she says, excitement giving way to curiosity. "Do you think they could be combined?"

"Maybe. What's so special about this plant anyway?"

"Oh, when we have classes during the school year, I usually come here to study."

"There are classes?"

"Yeah, Chiron teaches all of them. Personally, I think he's a pretty good teacher." You are mildly jealous at this revelation, though it makes sense. Half-blood or not, they need some sort of formal high-school education to survive the world, especially if they plan on leaving for college.

"That's… interesting. What does he teach?"

"I'm pretty sure it's just the standard New York high school classes: math, the sciences, English, Ancient Greek-"

"Ancient Greek?"

"Oh, yeah they probably wouldn't teach that in a normal high school," she laughs sheepishly.

You haven't been slacking off on your own practice, and have achieved another concept(s).

[][Concept] You went for simpler concepts, that you felt you could achieve easily. (pick 2)
-[][Concept] The Concept of suppression. It certainly won't suppress anything significant, but it might make your opponent weaker
-[][Concept] You combined your own version of the concept of durability with Willow's.
-[][Concept] The Concept of nutrition. You won't need to find too many edible plants if you ever need to forage for food.
-[][Concept] The Concept of size. Make plants bigger without needing to make them grow.
-[][Concept] The Concept of tools. Your plants will form tools more readily and easily.
[][Concept] You attempted something more advanced (Pick 1)
-[][Concept] The Concept of electricity. Hey, eels can do it, so why not plants?
-[][Concept] The Concept of sound. Maybe you can use them to trick people or perform ventriloquy.
-[][Concept] The Concept of adaptation. Your plant will be able to survive in any environment.

-[][Concept] The Concept of time, you're not quite sure what that will do, but it will certainly be interesting.

On the last day of August, you, along with the rest of your half-sisters, received your bead for the summer. It's red, with a picture of a griffon on it. Not unexpected as far as the possible designs went. You're just glad that the Athena cabin didn't decide that you were the most notable thing that happened that summer.

When you got your first bead, you realized you didn't have a necklace or anything to put it on, at which point you were taken to the Arts and Crafts Center so that your whole cabin could collaborate and make you your necklace. It was amusing, and you spied Blossom there looking amusedly at you as your half-sisters worked.

At the end of it, you were now the proud owner of a camp necklace with a single bead on it.

ΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔΔ

On your last week at camp, you finally managed to find Justin, alone that is. It wasn't that hard to catch up with him when he was around others, but you were more comfortable in a one on one situation. You knew that the best way to create such a situation would be to just ask if you could hang out later, but you never quite managed to work up the courage to do so. That made your current situation very convenient.

You chatted a bit back and forth, about his quest, about your first summer at Camp Half-Blood, about his griffon (named Bucky by the way). Of course, then you got to a more… interesting topic.

"What's your opinion on Sean, the Apollo counselor?" you ask Justin.

"Sean is, how would you put it, yeah. He's an acquired taste. I remember when he first showed up. He wasn't all that different from you. Socially awkward, very talented, nervous about being around so many people. You'd think a son of Apollo would have more natural charisma. It was there, just buried a bit."

"What changed?"

"Well, you have to understand that Sean and I are now tied for the most quests attempted by anyone at camp at three each. One of those we even went on together, but here's the thing. Even when you complete the goal of the quest, that doesn't mean everybody comes back alive."

Realization washes over you.

"That sort of thing, it changes people. I doubt you'd believe it, but I used to be the stereotypically reckless child of Ares until it got one of my teammates killed. That's when I sobered up and learned that there's more about War than just violence."

The topic got heavier than you expected. "So, Sean…"

"On his second quest, he was the only person to come back out of the three that went. That's when he became, well like he is. Still, even if I wouldn't want to hang out with him, I'd definitely trust him to have my back in a fight."

"I… I think I get it, sort of."

"Not saying you have to like the kid, just saying that he's not that way without a reason."

"Um, thanks, Justin."

"No problem kid."

"So, will you be here next year?"

"Hope so. I still need to show Nichols the ropes for being head counselor."

"So you're graduating next year?"

"Yeah, then it's off to college for me. As cliche as it sounds, I'm gunning for Westpoint."

"That's certainly…" you're not sure what to follow that up with. "Good luck?"

He gives you one of his (trademarked?) toothy grins, and thanks you.

At the end of the week, your dad comes to pick you up and your first year at Camp Half-Blood is over. You're starting high school at the ripe old age of ten, which unfortunately means less time to practice your skills.

Gained 7 EXP points in Chlorokinesis, 10 in the Concept of Growth, 3 in Social, and 2 in War-Scythe wielding, Archery, Parkour, and Art.

At the last week of your time at camp, you managed to perfect your chlorokinesis, which allows you to focus on the next steps towards becoming a force of nature.

QM Note:

I've actually been thinking about Sam's Fatal Flaw and I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what it should be. While hubris could fit since you'll probably angle to change the "canon" future, I don't think it's the best.

The events in the post all happen in chronological order, for anyone curious.

Also, unlike my Tinker of Fiction SI, I see Sam as a 9-year-old. He may be more mature than normal for a 9-year-old, but he's been a child for just about a decade, and that's how he sees himself at this point.

  • Macro-Chlorokinesis - Untrained 0/10
  • Plant Modification - Untrained 0/10
  • Concept of Growth - Intermediate 19/25 - Allows you to Grow plants into qualities that they didn't have before. At higher training level, allows you to grow magical plants with ease.

HUUZAH! 1 more step on the path of having wood dragons!

[X][Concept] You went for simpler concepts, that you felt you could achieve easily. (pick 2)
-[X][Concept] The Concept of suppression. It certainly won't suppress anything significant, but it might make your opponent weaker
-[X][Concept] You combined your own version of the concept of durability with Willow's.
[X][Derivative] You focus on manipulating more plants, over a wider area (6 EXP Points to Macro-Chlorokinesis)

Id recommend LAW and VENGEANCE for plant concepts. To keep it n line with our mothers domains, and help strengthen the barrier around camp half blood.
Edit: also

[X][Derivative] You focus on your fine control, changing the plants biologically (6 EXP Points to Plant Modification)

Full stop

-[X][Concept] You combined your own version of the concept of durability with Willow's.
-[X][Concept] The Concept of size. Make plants bigger without needing to make them grow.

More durability is non negotiable. Size and suppression were both considered, but size seems more useful in the long run. Has offensive and utility applications. Time is still appealing in its mystery box way. Some day for sure.

[X][Derivative] You focus on manipulating more plants, over a wider area (6 EXP Points to Macro-Chlorokinesis)

Up the strength before Sam goes for dexterity (so to speak).

[X][Training] Train Macro-Chlorokinesis in the parks
[X][Training] Train Plant Modification.
[X][Training] Focus on the Concept of Growth

Plant training. As is tradition.

[X][Training] They almost certainly have Archery lessons for kids your age. You should work on your archery

Still think Sam's best combat strategy is to use his plant powers to hold down and disable monsters so he can snipe them from a distance. And *cough* screw war scythe *cough*

[X][Event] Meeting up with Pear

Got to make sure Sam has a social life. God knows an actual human being would probably short circuit his brain. Baby steps.

[X][Event] Bloom.

Don't know. Sounds interesting.

[][Concept] You attempted something more advanced (Pick 1)
-[][Concept] The Concept of time, you're not quite sure what that will do, but it will certainly be interesting.

I wand to possibly try to make a seeds booms or a stasis/healing pod plant with Time.
[][Derivative] Focus on Both (3 to Each)
Blance is key
[][Training] Join a Martial Arts Dojo of some kind.
-[][Training] Krav Maga
[][Training] You should probably learn some first-aid skills at some point.
[][Training] Read up on Greek Legends
[][Training] Train Macro-Chlorokinesis in the parks
Some self Martial art would help, first-aid is very important to have in the future, unbias Greek Legends would help and more plant power but willing to change for Concept training.

-[X][Concept] You combined your own version of the concept of durability with Willow's.
-[X][Concept] The Concept of tools. Your plants will form tools more readily and easily.

Durability is definitely a must. And I would love to be able to make our own bow and arrows. Never be without a weapon! And our arrows will always be nicely upgraded as we improve our ability to add concepts.

[X][Derivative] You focus on manipulating more plants, over a wider area (6 EXP Points to Macro-Chlorokinesis)

[X][Training] They almost certainly have Archery lessons for kids your age. You should work on your archery #2
[X][Training] Your dad knows how to set traps for game, you just need to figure out how to make them work on monsters.
[X][Training] Train Macro-Chlorokinesis in the parks

Imagine being an archer that can create their own killzones and traps?

[X][Event] Meeting up with Pear
[X][Event] Bloom.

just a reminder for everybody, we can't access those tasty extra domains until we take the time to do our research on Demeter in high school.

@Monk Penguin, would it be possible for us to spend an action to look up the Eleusinian Mysteries? these are where a lot of the older traditions surrounding Demeter are preserved.

If we have field trips to Greece, Eleusia and Arcadia are the sites connected to the 'modern' Demeter, whilst Crete and Mycenae are the places to be if we want to look into her older, more powerful incarnations.

I really want Suppression, and durability is important in turn with that, I find the Tool option to be the next best thing on the list, because it will be very useful going further into.

[X][Derivative] You focus on manipulating more plants, over a wider area (6 EXP Points to Macro-Chlorokinesis)

I think I'd prefer to go more the Modification route, but this seems more in turn with how our character is developing.

Bows are something I think we should develop more than our melee abilities as just a very general statement, its good to be prepared for fights up close, but eliminating an enemy when they can't harm you is better.

[X][Event] Meeting up with Pear
[X][Event] Trying to make friends.

We made a promise to Pear, so we must keep it, and I'd like to, in general, improve our socialization, both of the other options are certainly interesting but we just had a fairly conflict-ridden resolution to camp, and while the Following could be something not combat-related it sort of points towards it.
