What is Fate? (Percy Jackson and the Olympians Quest)

Sure, it's not as weebo as I originally thought, but that was only part of what made it kind of edgy. Just my opinion (obviously) but I can't help but roll my eyes. Like, of course none of the perfectly good, given options were enough and Sam needs to have a clever plant based weapon. I just cringe thinking of everyone using swords, spears, hammers, etc. and then there's Sam waving around a War Scythe in the corner. I mean, does he need to have a themed weapon? Can't he just learn a traditional weapon instead of having to be a special™ protagonist.
Is that really true if the weapon we chose is part of our mother's domain? Like, I can get that not wanting to be a weaboo speshul OC, but at the same time we are a Demi-god in modern times and we are expected to actually learn to fight with swords (the worst melee weapons available) and bows instead of guns and such. So I would say that us being some level of weirdo is sort of part of the package, so we should just choose a weapon that we will have literal magical affinity if we have to choose anything.

More like it is thematic and fits as it us fairly well. Not to mention that, as the son of the goddess of harvest and agriculture and patron to farmers, we have a decent chance at having a bonus with the weapon that is a modified and weaponized farming tool.

EDIT: Ninja'd

That's just an assumption. Monk approved of the Scyth being a valid option to vote for. That's it. Nothing on it giving us plant bonus or whatever you mean.
Except that is quite literally the only reason I can imagine that Demi-gods fight with sword (the worst melee weapon) instead of better melee weapons. Or maybe they are all just idiots. Also even if we don't get magic boost the war scythe is better since pole arm > swords.

That actually makes a lot of sense.

I'm surprised we have no Axe option honestly.

Personally I enjoy the historic accuracy of a war scythe (bleh the harvesting implement) I really would prefer we don't go with a weapon that is gonna permanently be two handed and you can't just sheathe a pole-arm since I expect we are gonna end up going for an archer or slingshot build which both require two hands to utilize.

Assuming the handle is made of wood (which I'm pretty sure it is), we could use it for hijinks if we find a way to manipulate said wood. We could extend the handle to improve our reach, retract it to deal with those who got past the blade, or bend it at a sudden angle to catch enemies off-guard.

Again, the one we are using is the short sword like variant, not the polearm type.

Also you are forgetting that magical weapons are a fairly common thing so having a war scythe that can shift from the kind that is akin to the short sword to the kind that is a polearm is perfectly viable.

I mean for us currently it's two handed, also the length of the blade should make it a long sword in the long term anyway wouldn't it? (Don't know much about the non-polearm war-scythe)

I did not forget about magical weapons though. I do think it's a bit of a boring magical weapon gimmick though. Like I'm not against the weapon in general I'd be okay with it if(when) it wins but it's not gonna be my first choice and I don't overtly feel we need to be optimized to every aspect of our mother.

Non polearm war scythes are about as big as a short sword with a single bladed edge and one blunted edge. The blunted edge is commonly used to block and parry and avoid damaging the edge in the way blade to blade combat would. It's curved shape makes it easier to slash through things and easier to pull out.

What we are using is basically a shattered saber which is now about the size of a short sword for our current size and has a curved, if uneven and jagged, edge with the other being blunted.

I specifically had it be shattered so it would fit out size so we should be able to wield it one handed.

This IS just what we have until we can get one of hep's kids to make us something or mom gives us a late birthday gift.

Who said a magical weapon is limited to a single ability?

As for it being overly aspected to our mother, keep in mind all of our fighting skills, powers, etc comes from her and failing to make the most of what we have would only serve to weaken us.

-[X] Try to be smarter about using the plants rather than just overpower everything via Chlorokinesis, we're dealing with the Athena Cabin

Not entirely sure if this is the correct usage of a war scythe but I found a video of a Ukrainian War Scythe practitioner.

It is correct though he is showcasing only the polearm variant (it is admittedly the more aesthetically pleasing one to watch in use).

EDIT: Not really a combat demonstration but is more along the lines of him going through his forms. Still a very good video and it does give a general idea of one style of scythe wielding (there are a ton varying by region).

On phone could you find an image for a non-pole arm war-scythe. Thank you in advance.
Normally I'd be really excited by a character using a polearm (or a saber though less so) of some form because I find them under utilized in fiction, but I just don't feel it with this character currently.

Start with small asks for a magic weapon shape change being the first thing it gets maybe later it is designed with more or maybe it starts with multiple but I don't feel like expecting multiple enchantments early.

I don't feel weapon choice needs to relate to them. We are already utilizing our powers and are very focused on them, like this wasn't even a set option at the beginning were not gonna get extra bonuses for selecting them it.

[X]Decoration: Vines (they start off weak yet in time grow strong enough to strangle then shatter even stone)
[X]Weapon: (short spear we use as a spear)
[X]Defence:Stick near willow
[X]Chloro: Lesser Intermediate (use it but be inconspicuous about it)- see if we can use our plant sense/link to interface with the forest and detect enemy approaches (and have plants grow to form "snares").

We set it us so we are fighting with homefield plant snare advantage, the spear gives us reach (so we can avoid getting locked in strength orientated grapples with older stronger opponents, we focus on harnessing the opponent with stabs, slashes and such while they get stuck in the snare minefield (while knowing where they and their reinforcements are, and tire/time them out)
