Mortal Kombat wasn't "ruined" by later games, it was just never good to begin with. NetherRealm can't make movesets for shit, the cast is underdeveloped and has a massive favouritism problem, there's a massive issue with orientalism with the setting, the storyline is trite and shallow, the lore is convoluted for the sake of it being convoluted and ever since they became a subsidiary of WB have taken rebooting the continuity every time they run into a minor lore inconsistency. It's clear it only became popular due to the Streisand Effect caused by the US Congress's attempts to have it banned.

Time for combat posting like we are in a pit fighting for our lives, prefferably with knife fighting

Anyways,we really should let franchises die,go dormant (a 5 to 10 years pause) and use more spin offs that expand the setting

It can help mitigate the saturation as well handle hype better

I dont need sequels every 3 years

Same feeling, some I feel is just better off dead like Saints Row and glad the reboot was the final legacy of Volition. Some franchises are meant to be products of their time and there is no shame or tears bidding farewell even if there isn't a successor

Oh, okay you like Street Fighter, that's okay. :V
Speaking of which. No, Cammy's new default outfit covering her bum* is not a sign of societal collapse into Neo-Victorian Repression (or a malign conspiracy for that matter), nor for that matter is the prospect of Elena wearing pants for once.

(*: To the extent that painted on yoga pants along with sports bra and abs-baring cropped jacket is being covered)

It's ambiguous whether Caesar is intentionally misrepresenting Hegel to make himself sound more convincing and smart, or if he's legitimately misunderstanding Hegel because the misunderstanding lets him justify himself further, yeah.

Caesar quoting Hegel incorrectly is actually smart because no one would willingly torture themselves by reading Hegel. No one in universe is gonna double check him.

I wish there was an Int 10 check to provoke Caesar into starting a fight by correcting his take on Hegel.

It's telling that even Karl Marx: a guy who had a tendency of going off on seemingly-unrelated tangents in his writing basically wrote an entire essay saying "bro, stop yapping and get to the point".

Controversial opinion, graphics actually matter. If I am going to be looking at a screen for several hours, I would like it to look pretty and be fun to look at. And as anyone who watched Jurrasic park, studio think and Avater, graphics can have a good wow factor.

While I agree studios have a bad habit of doing solely graphics being good and the graphics are flawed, games like cuphead, subnautica, hades would of been a lot worse without their good graphics.

As such the triple AAA hype realistic graphics can be a good thing, if they know what they are doing with those graphics, and do actually pair it to a decent game.

I like seeing minorities in video games, representation is good.
I know it is not exactly controversial on this form, but 90% of issues with woke people get cause and effect reversed , is more writers not being able to write good, so they either make political themes as camo, or write political stuff as bad as everything else. You can see the same happen with christen media, conservative stuff.

The skilled writers write stuff like chronicles of Narnia, Hades, Star ship troooers (book and movies were both political in different ways) bad writers write stuff I mostly cannot remember because it forgettable.

Rule 3: Be Civil
Well, this IS the thread where people say wrong things...
He's not wrong though. New Vegas is framed as a revenge story, but it's so incompetently told, that Benny isn't even the main fucking antagonist. Instead the story is all about showcasing the bunch of incompetents that are the major factions fighting over the Hoover Dam for their own reasons and asking you to pick your favorite moron to give unlimited energy.

So the game is actually a Kingmaker story, where not only are all of the factions blander than milk flavored ice-cream, but the game also expects you to give a shit about the only town that physically could not support life if all of the old-world's infrastructure actually collapsed.

So yeah, the writing is Fallout 3 tier, at best. People just like it more because they ravenously like sucking Obsidian's cock.

I'm tired of trying to like System Shock 2. I'm so used to twitch shooters or the intricacy of fighting games so having a stripped down of both whole having no gps system a la Dead Space 2 just leaves me having to constantly reference maps to get anywhere. I just don't find myself having this immersive sim engagement everyone toutef about.

On the other hand, one could say that outfits are supposed to either stay the same or get skimpier with new installments, so it might be a violation of the natural order.

... Or maybe that's just what it looked like as a Soul Calibur fan. (Side by side comparisons of Sophitia's costumes were freaking wild.)

I don't think many people are actually saying that graphics don't matter -at all-. Mostly it seems to be about what they consider poor choices being made in the pursuit of the Next Big Graphics Improvement. (See, for many examples, the early PSX era, where the 'gotta have 3d' attitude led to a lot of awful looking 3d.)
