If he doesn't get a second chance, our own hereafter wouldn't look very bright. The foulest sin is hypocrisy and, even if we don't quite commit his sins, our own will stain us enough. May another be as understanding of us when kingdom come.


We'll be doing a lot more than just keeping an eye on ONI. Even from within the Exiles it would take little to see things spiral out of control and, well, we may need to grant a saving throw or two.

I hope to properly absorb Covenant religion, even if we don't exactly practice it, while avoiding giving the impression that we are nishum... tapeworms... to those who risked their lives on this. Such illusions die quickly when a Spartan is in the room. Even if we don't start defiling physics.

I feel like we should do something with our Fireteam for once. Although I do regret not spending more time on upgrading Mjolnir.

Well, a good idea, but problem is, the UEG isn't much better than ONI. Only instead of pure pragmatism, there is incompetence and buffoonery.

Except that these gus do not believe in the Covenant Religion... they literally fled to escape it because its core tenant, the Great Journey is lighting the rings and killing everyone.

Should the time come for war, you do not wish to be blind to the enemy's biases and foibles. You wish to be intimately familiar with every single one of their weaknesses as if you were recounting the scars on your own hands. And their strengths, and simply what they are.

Nor is religion cast away so easily. Oh, they are heretics or perhaps apostates but that doesn't mean you necessarily lose everything. For many of them, I'm sure, this isn't a renunciation of their faith so much as something like the Reformation at the moment of the Edict of Worms. A man may feel that one who speaks in God's name is corrupt, a serpent to be beheaded, while still believing God stands in Heaven.

It would be a mistake to treat any part of this as simple.

What is the species distribution of the Exiles? I imagine the Sangheili uprooted entire families due to how tightly knit they are and the fact that, in their culture, retaliation against families is common.

Oh, boy, yeah. The Grunts must have been one hell of a story by themselves considering the crap the Covenant piled on them. They were on the verge of another doomed rebellion and I suppose that got hijacked by the fleet... and their version of the Covenant faith was likely to go heretic due to their having their own clergy via the Deacons.

Huragok continue to be MVP here though.

Do you think there would be any on this splinter fleet? My understanding is that the prophets or whatever kept them on LOCKDOWN. Because they were too vital.

And that they strapped bombs to them to prevent humanity from capturing them during the war.

So I imagine they were captured... liberated... something. I imagine it was possible specifically because there was no war actually declared and the guards themselves were Sangheili heretics.

I'm not sure how much they were actually consulted or even informed, however. We'll need to meet with a representative of each species present separately. The Sangheili may speak for the fleet as a whole but I'm not willing to assume that the other races don't have different concerns... or even that the Sangheili speak with one voice.

More like they were given the choice of "come with me if you want to live." And they took it because the purges were about to start.

Actually the fleet is fairly represented by the the races though the Shanghilli are predominantly in charge due to it being their ships and they are the officiers.

though the grunts do command several civilian and smaller vessels due to this being a refugee fleet as well.

those little basterds are better at being frigate commanders then elites funnily enough, and Thel Vadam has been the only elite that noticed.
