We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

Do you actually have a list of 75 spartans?since about half of them wash out with some dying from the augments.
They are on the halo wiki.
Kay must have missed the list then.
Dont trust the list fully, Mangoose altered canon here so a few Spartan candidates who were never actually conscripted (caleb) are in the program.. could be the same for some of the canon conscripts.. could of gotten away

I'm just keeping a few cards close to the chest right now. All I'm saying is that almost all the spartans who are on the list are here.

Margaret Parangosky... with her our best bet is to not be her enemy. Let her think she has won and buy time. Our position strengthens with time while she is at her zenith and may still wane.

She is feeling it already. Its why she will take Serin if Serin can't take the augmentations.

[X]plan: hand in hand

-[X]Hand to Hand: Time to learn how to fight well.
-[X]Request to Speak to Dr. Halsey: You wish to speak to the good Doctor, and see how much has changed since your last encounter. Hopefully for the better.

The Doctor specifically warned us against meeting the admiral alone, this gives us a chance to meet and plan with the Doctor first. And hand to hand gives us a chance to escape capture if things go badly since we wont be armed.
[X]plan: hand in hand

Just found your plan, and yes you're right, the dad and dr halsey did very much warn us.

[X] Plan Into the Mouth of Hell
-[X]Battlefield Tactics: You are going to learn how to command people on the battlefield.
-[X]To Face Death Itself: The Admiral wishes to see the Spartans... all of them, individually. You have a bad feeling about this.
    [X] Plan: Spy on Death
-[X]Spycraft: You want to be a Spy.

Has noted James not appearing in story so far

Indeed...
Indeed.

Or help Halsey replace her... It would some justice in this cruel universe if that lady got given the boot before things go horribly wrong.

What makes you think we can't fix that little problem.

I'm not sure who could replace her, honestly. ONI and the rest of the mess of humanity is held together with chewing gum, bailing wire, and good intentions. And its running out of good intentions.

Its half spymaster, half black ops murder machine, with a hefty sprinkling of dirty politician. More or less what would happen if Stalin's Beria was given free reign.

That is a very particular skillset.
What makes you think we can't fix that little problem.
I'm certain we can. Light... there is no way in hell he is only feeling guilty about a little torture. Just from his knowledge alone, not even getting into what we build for ourselves, I'm sure we could fix any dysfunction.

At least if we are willing to cryo someone for a year or two while we work out the details.

The question is what the devil does without a protege.

Well, I have an idea, but you won't like it... at all.

That's only the government of humanity... the rest of the colonies and people in it, are not so dysfunctional... It's only the people running the show who are so god damn crazy, and who have problems...

After all, what sane person would conscript children to become super-soldiers?

Eh... it's also just inertia from the whole colonizing the planets thing, and hippy hoppity, get off my property.

Light has issues. You may not see them due to Light being... Light, but they are there.

Well, we have plenty of time before Halsey descides to augment us. So.... we'll be okay.

Honestly? It may not be nice, to put it mildly, but it is sane.

You have a small cadre of janissaries, potent to the point they can make any single threat crumple before it can gain momentum but also with a degree's separation from the politics of the realm. We are ill-suited to lead, are biologically dependent on our masters for both life and propagation, and we have no ties except to our brother and creed. Since we rarely will reproduce it even has touches of the old chinese system of eunuchs. Its not a bad idea.

And a lot of the spark that Spartan II soldiers have that later iterations, or Orions, don't is directly tied to this being their childhood. For them, being a supersoldier is what they do but it isn't the whole of them. For us, for us excellence and brotherhood is something we hunger for as if they are biological necessities. Oh, the way they went about it was ham-fisted, sure. But sometimes ugly things work.

I figure his list of issues would be longer than the list of degrees, or their equivalencies, to be honest.

Barring low level chemical augmentation, anyway. The food is already tampered with.

I doubt that would cause rejection issues so, yeah, we have time.

No, but canon wise ONI did throw idea around of replacing Halsey with him..
Careful, I may just have it come back and screw you all over.

While true, when you consider most potential futures being either dystopian or utopian, Halo somehow goes into the middle... at least before the covenant shows up and place it straight into hell.

The problem is two-fold.

1. Us, because we exist, we are also kinda providing a very large piller of both strength and emotional range, which they did not have in canon. Meaning they may feel strong enough to basically screw the rules and express themselves as humans and enter relationships outside of brothers in arms.

2.While the augmentations suppress the Spartan's sex drives, it won't remove them. Hell the S-III's (or at least Gamma Company) had augmentations that sent them into a more primal state when fighting, which can lead to... interesting results.

While True, there is a wrench in the plan.

We're showing that they don't have to be just super soldiers... we're thieves, spies, scientists, engineers.

Just with the main job, being a super soldier.

you say that...

I did have an idea for an omake dealing with Halsey but unfortunately it involved Miranda Keyes and she hasn't been born yet
