Viva la Revolución: An Experimental Quest in Revolutionary Mexico

[X] The Third Republic of the Yucatan. Finally united, the Third Republic stands as the one true representative of the Mayan people
[X] la Yucatan - Ethnic Mayan states surrounding the eponymous Yucatan State, they're currently embroiled in revolution and rebellion in a search for independence.
[X] Coup (pro-Zapato) - El Presidenté is dead, long live el Presidenté.

[X] la Sur - From Oaxaca to Chiapas, this is a region of biodiversity, white sand beaches, and hot blooded politics. Separatist ideals haven't left the cultural memory, nor the discontent of it. The south is the den of the Zapatistas for now.

[X] Fall Back

Very cool concept.

[X]el Norte -
The deserts and mountains of the north hide hardy farmers, squalid forts, and banditos. From la Baja to Chihuahua and Sonora, these lands are the most difficult to take and difficult to lose. Land is often concentrated in the hands of titled aristocrats and their haciendas.

February 1911
February 1911
"Fall of Madero
"

Red: El Porfiriato
Pink: Las Zapatistas
Light Grey: Los Banditos y Las Anarchistas
Green: Third Republic of the Yucatan
February would mark the first fall of a major combatant since the outbreak of the war four months prior. Madero, the would be Presidente, would be dragged from his hideout in Chihuahua after caudillo Villa received much needed reinforcements from Sonora, allowing him to make a proper offensive. A thorough disappointment from his supporters, unable to capture either the aristocratic hacienda owners or the peons (both urban and rural) that helped power the economic and militaristic workhorses of Mexico. Madero's sole ally in Guanajauto was alone, abandoning Madero's cause and opting to strike out on his own. Hanged without much ceremony, Madero's death marked the end of the first chapter of the Mexican Revolution.

This bleak outlook, akin to the sparse mountains that Madero saw prior to his hood, would be seen by the actions of the Porfiriato. Following an abortive coup my Zapatistas within the administration (taking the state of Nayarit with them), the President decided to withdraw his troops from garrisons throughout Mexico, focusing on his stronghold through the Mexican central region. This pulling back of units would see the rise of the Magonistas throughout Baja California and Baja Sur, as well as the fall of Sonora in totality. Only the lack of a Zapatista push north allowed the remnants of the Porfiriato's hold on Veracruz to survive.

The Zapatistas were much more concerned to their far south, where a resurgent Third Republic, recovered in moral for now from it's losses in the Yucatan Civil War, drove out the Porfiriato federalista army and came face to face with a Zapatista border guard. Both were successor states to the Mexican Republic, and although their was no de jure hostility between them, the pre-emptive seizure of the state of Tabasco by the Third Republic chagrined Zapata. Will hostilities break out in the South, giving the Porfiriato a much needed break?

However, this is not the only issue. The vultures circle menacingly around Mexico. In the north, the United States government has grown weary of the ineptitude of Porfiro in quelling his socialists and anarchists. To the south, Guatemala views Chiapas as rightful Guatemalan territory. Lastly, abroad, foreign vigilantes, both anarchist and socialist, view the Mexican Civil War as an increasingly viable chance to form an anarchist/socialist state (depending on one's point of view).

It seems there is much to happen yet in this civil war.

Sorry for the delay, I got distracted with my thesis and Warhammer Total War. I'm back on track now.

Mexico spins rapidly, who will win? You decide!

~ ~ ~ ~
It is March of 1911, Mexico erupted into armed discontent.
Who do you support?

[] The Porfiriato. The President has ruled since '84, why should we turn against him now? Viva el Porfirio, Viva la Republica!

[] The Zapatistas. The rich have dominated Mexico for too long, let bring forth a truly peasant solution to us all!
Igualdad y libertad!

[] Los Banditos y Anarchistas. A radical solution is necessary, the state is an extraneous institution. Libertad o Morte!

[] The Third Republic of the Yucatan. Finally united, the Third Republic stands as the one true representative of the Mayan people/

However who you are isn't the only question brought before you. Where you are is equally important.

Where is your support?

[] el Norte - The deserts and mountains of the north hide hardy farmers, squalid forts, and banditos. From la Baja to Chihuahua and Sonora, these lands are the most difficult to take and difficult to lose. Land is often concentrated in the hands of titled aristocrats and their haciendas.

[] la Centro - Heartland of Mexico's agriculture, the haciendas rule the roost and the peasanos do all the work for the privilege of living in a room. To feed or not to feed, that is the question, however this region is hard to swap, as the enfiefed ideals of colonial Mexico are still strong here.

[] la Metrodad - The heart of Mexico, it is the city of Mexico and it's surrounding environs. Home of the rich, the poor, and the entitled, it is the most populated bastion of support, but at the wiles of whomever has the ears of the mover and shakers, both high and low. Home of el Profiriato

[] la Sur - From Oaxaca to Chiapas, this is a region of biodiversity, white sand beaches, and hot blooded politics. Separatist ideals haven't left the cultural memory, nor the discontent of it. The south is the den of the Zapatistas for now.

[] la Yucatan - Ethnic Mayan states surrounding the eponymous Yucatan State, they're currently embroiled in revolution and rebellion in a search for independence.

Shall the Zapatistas and Third Republic of the Yucatan go to war?

[] Yes

[] No

The Bandits and Anarchists occupy wide swaths of Mexico, shall a distinction be madebetween them?

[] Yes - Separates the region between the respective caudillos (Villistas, Magonistas, Huertistas, etc...)

[] No - No reason to distinguish between various criminals.

Who shall intervene into the war?

[] The United States -
This is craziness. Bandits? Socialists? Anarchists? Time to stop this matter on our border.

[] Guatemala - Chiapas is ours, now is our chance!

[] The Internationale - We fight for a freer Mexico, no matter where we come from. Viva el Internationale!

[] No One - Mexican Wars for Mexicans!

It's time to finish this war. Freedom for the Mayans and socialism for the Mexicans.
