Viva la Revolución: An Experimental Quest in Revolutionary Mexico

[X] The Third Empire of Mexico. His Imperial Highness returns! Viva Agustin! Viva la Emperor!
[X] la Centro - Heartland of Mexico's agriculture, the haciendas rule the roost and the peasanos do all the work for the privilege of living in a room. To feed or not to feed, that is the question, however this region is hard to swap, as the enfiefed ideals of colonial Mexico are still strong here. Last holdout of the Porfiriato.
[X] Guatemala - Chiapas is ours, now is our chance!
[X] The United States - Germans and Anarchists? This is enough.

[X] Write In - Austria-Hungary - We must send aid to our Mexican brothers-in-arms in their righteous battle for Mexico!
[X] Write-in - France - Le boche must be opposed at every opportunity!
[X] Imperial Germany YES - Our brother Emperor needs help, time to bring out the might of the German Empire.
[X] The International YES - The International will never give up on their fellows!

I figure that once Guatemala takes Chiapas, the Mayan Republic will take both Chiapas and Guatemala proper.

[X] The Zapatistas. The rich have dominated Mexico for too long, let bring forth a truly peasant solution to us all! Igualdad y libertad!
[X] el Norte - The deserts and mountains of the north hide hardy farmers, squalid forts, and banditos. From la Baja to Chihuahua and Sonora, these lands are the most difficult to take and difficult to lose. Land is often concentrated in the hands of titled aristocrats and their haciendas. Home of the Magnonistas.
[X] No One - Mexican Wars for Mexicans!
[X] Imperial Germany NO - This is a waste of time and effort. Agustin will be left to fend for himself.

The introduction of Imperial Germany into the Mexican Civil War resulted in an explosion of outrage, exasperation, and confusion across the courts of the world. British and French diplomats huddled in corners speaking darkly whilst Austrian, Hungarian, and Romanian gathered to drink warmly in congratulation to the newest monarchy of the world. Alas, the impudence of German high command overlooked one factor, the United States. Common wisdom at the time held that the tiredness of the American people of the Mexican conflict would undermine attempts to protect the Monroe Doctrine and allow the Germans to run out Mexico like a (crowned) thief in the night.

They were wrong.

The rage emanating from the American Congress was said to cause at least one wife to faint in DC, although this urban myth happened to occur during an unlikely (and short) heat-wave. Nonetheless, the various representatives, sweating in an uncouth manner, presented Taft with articles for a declaration of war against Imperial Germany. It was quickly and aptly signed.

This would be an immense boon for the Zapatistas, ironically, as for the first time in the war they were presented with considerable losses. The Empire, inspired by their jackbooted and silly-hatted allies, launched an offensive which returned* significant sections of Veracruz, Durango, and Zacatecas to their control. Further, an Orozquista offensive was launched in accidental concurrence, which surprised both the Zapatistas and Orozquistas in it's success in Queretaro and Guanajuato. The icing on the cake was a surprise attack by the Magnonistas, taking southern Sinaloa in a rapid advance.

Luckily for the beleaguered socialists, the Americans saw the Germans as their premier threat to peace in Mexico. The American Expeditionary Force to Mexico (AEFMEX), expanded past it's initial mounted origins, saw the good grass-fed boys of the southern states fight in open warfare against their Germanic cousins.

Chaos reigned in Mexico, and sadly for all but the Mayans, it seemed as if it might not end by Christmas.

*Returned is a bit of a misdemeanor, although different states in radical ways, the higher echelons of the former Profiriato were in place in the Imperial State, allowing some to view the Imperium as the direct successor state of Porfirio's Republic.

Mexico is officially off the rails, out of the gorge, and somewhere in the pits of hell. What's next to come?

It is August of 1911, Mexico erupted into armed discontent.
Who do you support?

[] The Third Empire of Mexico. His Imperial Highness returns! Viva Agustin! Viva la Emperor!
[] The Zapatistas. The rich have dominated Mexico for too long, let bring forth a truly peasant solution to us all!
Igualdad y libertad!
[] The Magnonistas. True freedom occurs solely in an anarchist state, the revolution must be brought further in Mexico!
[] The Orozquistas. Mexico has gone mad! Someone needs to stop it and bring order to this land!
[] The Americans. This nonsense needs to come to an end, America is the only power that will dictate terms to Mexico.

However the civil war has expanded wildly outside the initial imaginations of those that started it. Generals, Caudillos, Mob leaders where will the next offensive be launched?

Where will you attack?

[] el Norte -
The deserts and mountains of the north hide hardy farmers, squalid forts, and banditos. From la Baja to Chihuahua and Sonora, these lands are the most difficult to take and difficult to lose. Land is often concentrated in the hands of titled aristocrats and their haciendas. Home of the Magnonistas.

To feed or not to feed, that is the question, however this region is hard to swap, as the enfiefed ideals of colonial Mexico are still strong here. Current battleground of the Civil War.
[] la Metrodad - The heart of Mexico, it is the city of Mexico and it's surrounding environs. Home of the rich, the poor, and the entitled, it is the most populated bastion of support, but at the wiles of whomever has the ears of the mover and shakers, both high and low. Home of the Orozquistas and controlled in part by the Zapatistas.

Shall more intervene into the war?

[] Guatemala -
Chiapas is ours, now is our chance!.
[] Write In - Someone else is needed to intervene!
[] No One - Mexican Wars for Mexicans!

Shall these interveners continue to spend their valuable time and resources in Mexico?

[] Imperial Germany YES -
Our brother Emperor needs help, time to bring out the might of the German Empire.
[] Imperial Germany NO - This is a waste of time and effort. Agustin will be left to fend for himself.

[] The International YES - The International will never give up on their fellows!
[] The International NO - The International has given up on their fellows!

I'm putting a 6 hour moratorium on voting. I'm honestly very tempted to chance the mechanics in order to focus on discussions and plans to fight. But individuals can give input on whether they'd be interested or prefer to stick to the current format.

Zapatistas, Orozquistas, Magnonistas... the time to act is now!

I propose that we unite our forces as one and strike against the tyranny of The Third Empire of Mexico and their german puppetmasters, before it is too late and the entirety of Mexico is subjucated by Imperial Germany!

Igualdad y libertad! Viva la revolución!

[] The Zapatistas. The rich have dominated Mexico for too long, let bring forth a truly peasant solution to us all! Igualdad y libertad!

Only Zapata can bring freedom and prosperity to Mexico!

Eh, one of these two. Probably La Metrodad to once and for all take care of the Orozquistas.

[] Britain and France - The Germans must not be allowed to gain a puppet in the Americas! We will send aid to whoever fights the Empire, even if it means supporting.... socialists, urgh.
[] Third Republic of the Yucatan - The Zapatistas are guaranteeing our independence. If they fall, whoever replaces them is likely to come after the Yucatan next. We must aid Zapata to prevent this from happening!
[] No One - Mexican Wars for Mexicans!

Either of these.

[] Imperial Germany NO - This is a waste of time and effort. Agustin will be left to fend for himself.

Nein nein nein nein nein nein!

[] The International YES - The International will never give up on their fellows!

World Revolution!

@Dadarian Would this be an acceptable write-in for intervention?

...Why is the moratorium hidden in the Author's note? That's just asking for people to not realize it's there.

Definitely planning on supporting Americans, although not in dedicated push anywhere. Constantly shifting their focus keeps them engaged but not too effective

I want an ever shifting eternal war to burn Mexico to the ground. With the way mechanics work here, as far as I can tell things are in favor of that. Failing that, break Mexico into many small nations with whatever boarders America to be a buffer state so America doesn't have to deal with the problems of the rest of the Mexican Successor States.

Hmm, the current format is getting pretty chaotic in my opinion. Which is fitting, but....

What would the new mechanics look like?

I was thinking of allowing write-ins for desired offensives. You vote who you support, where the offensives are, and then have a nice write-in of what you want to happen. Which now that I'm think about it seems entirely too much work for the player base. I might just stick to the current format.

Habit to be perfectly honest. I'll de-hide it.

I think a fire is too much of an understatement for what's happening in Mexico right now.

... Maybe we can throw in some 'rogue' Imperial Japanese army volunteers into the fray as well. :p
