"La Crisis Mexicana"
September saw the expansion of the Mexican Crisis, as the Prime Minister of the British Empire, in a dictate flanked by the signatures of the French and American Presidents, demanded the German Empire withdraw from the Republic of Mexico and return to Germany."La Crisis Mexicana"

Willy refused.
A small squadron of allied ships, comprised British, French, and American vessels, confronted the SMS Westfalen off the Mexican coast and fired. Over the next 25 minutes, shells launched from numerous dreadnoughts and pre-dreadnought battleships hit into the SMS Westfalen, which desperately tried to respond. The sailors of the Kriegsmarine were admirable in their efforts, as they managed to strike a French and a British vessel to the degree wherein the surprised French crew began to experience and untoward list. Alas, the SMS Westfalen was no match for the many ships which it faced, and struck colours following a minor explosion towards the aft marked the end of one of the primary cannon.
The SMS Westfalen was left to sink while it's sailors were rescued and brought to an impromptu prisoner of war camp in Louisiana. Furthermore a blockade was enacted, as American ships patrolled the Caribbean in a steel warning against Germanic incursions. Across Europe diplomats flailed. Russian diplomats spoke to French, Austrians and Romanians spoke to German. Worries of a war, one so large it could span the world, spread across the capitals.
Alas, none of that affected Mexico, as the war continued. The loss of German support meant that the battleships' fire support was no longer available, and the German marines were increasingly stranded in a strange land. This was further shook as a Zapatistan offensive to the south reclaimed significant portions of the states of San Luis Potosi and Veracruz. The Empire, viewed so strong only a couple months ago, seemed increasingly fragile. These doubts were only mitigated slightly when the offensive into Zacatecas gained headaway across the front.
To the realm of the Magnonistas, the anarchist brothers decided on a gambit. Understanding that their forces were primarily in the states of Chihuahua and Sonora, they gambled that this was the location that they would fight to the end. This seemed initially successful, as the Magnonistas managed to push back American pickets through quick and violent warfare.
This gamble however saw necessary consequences, as the Free Republic of Lower California secured the state of Baja California Sur without much ado. Given the Magnonistas took everything no nailed down, the state almost served as a detriment to the newest breakaway republic of Mexico.
Across Mexico, it became increasingly obvious that the second phase of the Mexican Civil War was drawing to a crescendo. Furthermore, the war which was once the talk of coffee shops of the rich and pampered became increasingly forgotten. Wherein university students once placed bets on what would occur on the map of Mexico, it became more common for these bets to be placed on the map of Europe. Those that weren't signing up at their local recruiter that is.
