VII Queens

@Nevill The 69 is only indicating Nys' atk amount without her weapon. I normally don't show it like that but I just grabbed the stats from the character sheet. Sorry for the confusion. The atk amount is still 124.

The core will not be easy to find in this case since the void is different. An irregularity is usually an indication to where the core. So if Nys hasn't sense it or there hasn't been anything that stood out in the prose then the core isn't in the area.

Ren is speaking about the hive he's in control of when he says they. Liri is shocked that a human was devoured by a void but took control.

Voids will always be preceded by the title (Void_). Meaning Argenti is not corrupted.

INT is the atk of those who use wands or staffs or Kren in general. Hyacinth has low atk but high int, perfect for her weapon type.

Also remember you can only use one token amount per character so 20 atk and 20 def but not 2 (20) defense. Larger amounts will be added soon since there should only be three queens left to recruit after this chapter unless somehow Eurytia is missed. But that will be very hard to do.

Thank for typo spotting, I was rushing to get the updated out.

I don't get it. Is it 1 token per character, 1 token of given value per character, or per character stat?

Which of the choices below are legit?
1) [ ] Nys: 1x 20pts, 1x 15 pts to ATT (i.e. 35 to ATT)
2) [ ] Nys: 1x 20pts to ATT, 1x 20 pts to DEF
3) [ ] Nys: 1x 20pts to ATT, 1x 15 pts to DEF
4) [ ] Nys: 1x 20pts to ATT; Liri: 1x 20 pts to ATT
5) [ ] Nys: 1x 20pts to ATT; Liri: 1x 15 pts to ATT

You can use every token on each stat once.

The first one was right. So you can do all tokens on each stat. You just can't double the same amount.

So 20, 35 and 50 can go to atk, def or int. Or all of them if you have three of each token for each stat.

You just can't do 20, 20, 20 on the same stat. I hope that makes sense. I realized that if its one per character rather than stat it'll take a long time to get higher stats. I changed the mechanics post to reflect the change. Sorry for the confusion.

That's fair, but can we use the same amount on the same stat next time? Or when we use, say, a 20pts. token to enhance Nys' attack stat, that's it, those tokens could only be used for different characters/stats until the end of the game?

I think I understand it now how the stats work now. I tend to get confused with stats quite quickly.

Royal Hymn IV
Eone's Garden had always been talked about at the university by students and staff. It was a place that was hidden away deep in Luxarc. It couldn't be found on any campus map and the location was always disputed.

Nys had found it very odd that such a place existed at a university. She had heard the whispers of the garden but never found any reason to be interested. Mysteries weren't her thing.

Cara led her to the garden and the moment they stepped off the elevator Nys didn't know existed, they were in an underground garden. Though it was more like a forest than a garden. Nys wasn't sure how far down they had gone but the trees in the garden were huge reaching high with canopies that mixed and hid the ceiling above. It should have been dark as there were no lights, but the forest was lit up by golden particles. They floated up from the ground high into the trees above.

The garden was breathtaking and Nys could see why Eurytia would want to come frequently.

"Come," Cara pulled her arm gently leading her to the center of the garden. A life-size birdcage sat in the center of a clearing with flowers surrounding it. Nys remembered the flowers from the throne room. A type she was not familiar with, but then again, she felt if she knew all the flower types in the world, she would still not know what they were.

Nys felt odd being in the garden. Anxiety was building in her chest as she was led closer to the pristine white cage. Inside the cage was a sword that was a replica of her sword. Except the sword was black and red instead of gold and blue. Above the sword, a black orb with hints of green hovered.

"Why is that here?" Nys moved forward without Cara's urging. She escaped the woman's grasp and walked to the birdcage. She touched the bars gingerly and a hymn started to rise in her mind. The lyrics fell on deaf ears as she slipped her hand through the bars and reached for the sword that was well out of her reach.

Are you sure I deserve this, your majesty?

You've become my knight. You must always protect me. You must be stronger than my enemies, so this Affliction is yours. I am bestowing my greatest weapon to you. You have proven yourself more than worthy.

"Stay away!" came the voice of a female. The attack was so swift that Nys didn't even realize she had been attacked. She was knocked back several yards into the unknown flowers.

Getting up as quickly as she could Nys' attention went to her attacker. Her grip tightly around the Fifth Affliction.

Before her stood a woman dressed in armor reminiscent of her own. Black and silver caught her eyes first as the woman rested the bottom of her staff against the ground. Silver eyes that reminded Nys of Hyacinth regard her with apathy. The woman stood protectively in front of the birdcage. Her silver hair glimmering as the golden lights reflected off the metallic colored strands.

"Eone, why did you lead her here and why is Cara not in control." The woman said turning her attention to Cara.

Cara stepped forward her demeanor reserved and Nys was reminded of the queen in her reflection. "To save my knight should I stand still as she ruins my only chance?"

"Eone."

"Eurytia, we both know that though he is not the Ren of that world, he is still a part of him. I must free him of that creature." Cara clasped her hands together in front of herself, it was s posture of a noblewoman.

"He will cease to exist then. As a human, he should not even be able to thrive after being devoured. As someone that does not belong to her, he will only die. Is that freeing him?"

Cara or Eone, Nys wasn't sure but the woman looked pensive and didn't speak again. Eurytia turned to Nys aiming her staff toward her, "Wait, why are we fighting?"

"You will not be allowed to purify this Void. If you attempt to do so, I will kill you."

"Know your place Argenti!" Liri came flying toward Nys who caught him. She had no idea where he came from, but she was glad she wasn't alone anymore.

Eurytia kept her aggressive stance and waited. Her face was still blank as she watched the two of them. Liri got down from Nys' hands.

"How is it that you are awake? No one has called you back." Liri asked.

"I crawled up myself to this farce of a world. To fall to Vahnaine would be more than a sin. It would be a disregard of her sacrifice," Eurytia didn't lower her weapon.

"You abandoned her with the rest of them! You left us to die and become monsters!" Liri was near a scream and Nys knew he was enraged. The doll was usually very composed. To see him like this was jarring.

"Liri…" Nys called him gently. She didn't know what it was, but she didn't like to see the doll so angry.

Cara moved over to Nys, "Purifying the Void may kill Ren but for him to be stuck in that hell, death would be better."

"It would be better to free them than make them stay in this world," Ren spoke as he stepped into the clearing. He had arrived with Liri but he stayed hidden.

Eurytia hesitated, "You will die."

"So be it. I've grown tired of fighting them. They only want peace and she can give that to them and me."

"I won't allow it." The silver-haired woman stepped forward with purpose, "I won't let that aberration destroy you."

"You crawled up to this world, but you lost something." Liri accused her.

"I lost nothing."

"You lost your heart. Your emotions are gone because you refused to sleep. You wouldn't let Sine control your fate. Eurytia what have you done?" Cara said shaking her head.

"I did what the rest of you could not. I did not stand idle as that woman destroyed everything. My heart is nothing compared to repaying that woman for what she has done. I may not feel the rage, but I know what I should do."

"If you wish to repay Sine then you must help Nys. She is the only one that can free the Void and freeing them will free Ren. She is a fellow queen and the only one capable of ending it all." Liri said returning to his calm demeanor.

"No, purifying him will not free him. He will die like a human. I will not allow you to kill him."

"Why are you so sure that purifying him will kill him. I don't want to kill him and I would not allow it to happen. I believe I can save Ren and allow him to live. As a queen, you know that we must do this. We must help our subjects. Leaving Ren in this state will only harm him." Nys tried to convince her.

Eurytia lowered her staff but not completely she was torn.

How should Nys convince Eurytia?

Current Circumstances

- Eurytia is a queen, she needs to be recruited. She also seems to know more than anyone else.
- The blade in the birdcage is special don't forget about it.
- Cara is the queen Eone. She doesn't seem to be fully awakened.
- Nys needs to purify Ren

*Since there aren't that many that vote, I want to focus more on the story. So, points are now gone. Just make sure no one is KO'ed is good enough. Leveling will take place at the end of each battle, even if you don't fight conventionally, exp will be awarded. Party members not in the party during a battle will not receive exp. After this chapter, you'll be able to call together parties.

[X] Explain the bargain you made, your image, for the power to save those who lost themselves.
As I see it, the typical answer is to kill and let them rest in peace. By my understanding though, we have an alternate route- to sacrifice ourselves to save them. That SHOULD break the stand-off here nicely.

Cara led her to the garden and the moment they stepped off the elevator[,] Nys didn't know existed, they were in an underground garden.
Erroneous comma
"To save my knight should I stand still as she ruins my only chance."
Can't help but think something may be wrong with the punctuation here.
Eurytia, we both know that though he is not the Ren of that world, he is still apart of him.
"a part"
"You crawl up to this world, but you lost something." Liri accused her.
"crawled"?
She is the only one that can free the Void and freeing them will free Ren.
I am a bit confused about the pronoun to use when referring to the Voids. They consists of multiple tortured souls/voices, so perhaps it should be plural, but at the same time they act as singular cohesive entities...

Back to the update. A lot of what we are hearing is out of context.

"If you wish to repay Sine then you must help Nys."
Are Sine and "that woman" the same person? Eurytia rages at "that woman" and wouldn't let Sine "control her fate", but at the same time repaying her involves... helping us? How so?
"I crawled up myself to this farce of a world. To fall to Vahnaine would be more than a sin. It would be a disregard of her sacrifice," Eurytia didn't lower her weapon.

"You abandoned her with the rest of them! You left us to die and become monsters!" Liri was near a scream and Nys knew he was enraged.
Who is Vahnaine? Whose sacrifice?

I feel like I am supposed to be intrigued, but at this point I am just confused. I am not even sure if Ren is Eone's knight and how Eone taking control helped her not ruin "her only chance". If she wanted us to help Ren shouldn't she have warned us about what's down here... or you know, let us talk to him before we bumped into another queen? We came here looking for the Void's core, but shouldn't she already know where it is, and the problem lies not in finding it, but in getting the permission to touch it? Why were we left guessing?
- The blade in the birdcage is special don't forget about it.
What are we supposed to do with it, or with the information snippet attached to it? Knowing it's the "Fifth Affliction" does nothing to tell us what it actually is.
Although perhaps the "Core" is as literal as it sounds, and it is something precious to the person representing the Void. Perhaps this is why Euritya is so adamant we don't touch it.

[x] Ask for Ren's help
-[x] Tell them about the bargain

There is only one person in the room who could convince Eurytia. Let's turn to them.

@Nevill I'm probably being too vague and not explaining enough. This is mostly because I'm still trying to figure out what to reveal and what to keep a secret. Liri is also purposely keeping Nys in the dark about a lot of things.

Void pronouns can go either way depending on the situation. Most of the time I do use singular pronouns but in this case I used a plural pronoun to convey the difference between the Void and Ren. They are separate entities.

Sine and "that woman" are the same person. The repaying that is mentioned is referring to revenge.

Vahnaine was mentioned during Mark of the Queen II. It is a country. Vahnaine's Queen was Sine.

Her sacrifice refers to another Queen. That queen is the one in the prologue.

Eone and Cara are the same person different personalities. Eone was referring to Cara when she said "she ruins my only chance". Cara doesn't care about Ren only about Eurytia. Eone wants to save Ren and knowing who Nys is she led her to the garden where the core is.

Eone did know where the core was but Cara didn't.

The snipet about the sword was for the conversational phase. Some times I won't give all the options you can ask about.

The last thing I want to mention is about Liri. He doesn't tell Nys everything she needs to know and will lie to her to get her to act the way he wants. Which is why he had her kill the voids as the only way to save them.

The prologue of this quest explains where Liri stands.

Yes, that's clear... except for the last part. She didn't lead us here, we had a choice of two more options that would take us elsewhere and away from the Core. This is why I couldn't reconcile Eone's concern for Ren (which was urgent enough to override Cara) and her keeping mum.
The Cara she knew was a completely different person from the one in front of her.
[...]
"Three places. The courtyard where Ren and I would watch stars with her, Vahnaye Hall, and the third garden, Eone."

"Then we need to check those places. The core might be there. We can't waste time. Liri isn't strong enough to hold that void off if it decides to be aggressive," Nys said hoping the doll would be smart about any tactics he used.

"Then where should we go?" Cara asked.
Wasn't this Eone talking? Normally what would happen is that she'd tell us the things we need (the Core's location at the minimum) to the face. As it stands, Nys had to (and still has to) guess.

@Nevill This due to poor planning and not wanting to interfere with choices by making an obvious path.

I just didn't want Eone to outright tell nys where the core was since the story would change if another choice was taken. Though it makes more sense to do so with the way the story is written. Sorry about that, I'll try to be more consistent and think the events through better from now on.

Ren is currently a void that is why I think that it is better to ask Cara for help.

Royal Hymn V
Nys slowly got to her feet dusting off her skirt. She squared her shoulders and peered at Eurytia. Liri turned his attention to Nys wondering what she would say to the queen.

"You must have been very fond of Eone's knight. You've done so much, but you feel nothing at all," Eurytia remained impassive as Nys spoke.

"I know that trust doesn't come easy and with this situation where we've only just met, it must feel impossible. Things can't continue like this. You know this probably better than anyone here. Ren can't continue to stay like this. Humans can't become Voids," Nys turned to Ren.

"You're doing your best to fight off the madness. The constant disarray of voices. Pleading and crying for relief. You could get lost in that abysmal hive. The longer we continue to wait, the firmer that reality becomes. You will become lost and broken like the rest. Ren, isn't that true?" Nys wondered if the young man would help her. She knew he wanted to be freed but she was a stranger to him. Could he trust her?

Ren nodded solemnly, "She is right Eurytia. The longer you wait the weaker I get. Soon I won't even be able to stay this way."

Eurytia faltered and lowered her staff, "How am I to trust you? You are not from the world before. There I know who to trust but you are a stranger. I cannot—"

"Let her try," Ren said walking over to Nys. She realized a little late that he was wearing the school uniform. The red tie was a giveaway that he was indeed a student of the university.

"How are you so sure you can save him?" the silver-haired woman asked just slightly above a whisper.

Nys didn't want to explain but now would be the time if she wanted to change the outcome of the situation.

"A deal was made to save all of the Voids. To free them from the torture and despair I must give up something very valuable. I am not sending them to their death. I want to save them. Ren is not a Void but a human with a Void inside of him. If I clear it away then he should be saved, but the longer we wait who knows what will truly happen to him."

Eurytia glanced at Ren. She still held an apathetic expression but Nys could see she was struggling. She wanted to feel something, but she had nothing inside. "You're truly willing to try this even if it has an unfavorable outcome?"

Ren held his hand up, palm facing Eurytia. His fingertips had begun to blacken, and black cracks traveled down his fingers to his palm, "I am. Their voices have become too erratic for me to control. I'm afraid of what will happen when I finally give in."

"Eurytia you must allow this." Eone pleaded.

The woman finally agreed silently. She stepped to the side and looked toward the cage. She held her hand out and the black and green orb that floated above the sword flew into her hand. She walked over to Nys and held the core out to her.

"You must save him." Eurytia voice was monotone but still held a plead.

Nys held her hands out and Eurytia dropped the core into her hands. Nys figured the woman had been guarding the core the whole entire time. She must have placed it inside the birdcage at some point. Nys felt like the sword and birdcage had always been in the garden for countless years, but the core had been a new arrival.

----

Liri hadn't had much time to inspect his surroundings after he shadow-stepped to Nys' side but now that he looked around, he felt sick. This place was like that place. The paradise where she was waiting. He saw the birdcage and he felt rage at first but then confusion as his eyes fell upon the true Fifth Affliction.

"How?" he said to himself. With everyone's attention on Nys, he didn't have to explain his question.

The blade shouldn't exist in the world they were in now. It should have stayed in the ruins of Illacrimina. Who would bring the weapon here? Who other than three could bring the weapon? The owner was imprisoned, the prince had forgotten about it and the knight was powerless. Liri didn't understand it.

A rush of memories assaulted him, and he couldn't bear standing up. He dropped to his knees holding his head.

It is called Fifth Affliction. I am giving it to you since you have proven your worth and given me your allegiance.

Are you sure I deserve this, your majesty?

You've become my knight. A knight of Illacrimina. You must always protect me. You must become stronger than my enemies, so this broadsword is yours to wield. I am bestowing my greatest weapon upon you. You have proven yourself more than worthy of this weapon.

A queen's weapon is much too much to bear.

And yet you must. Not for my sake alone but for all of us. Though you are not of the hive. You are the one I trust the most. Be strong Eliri—

Liri snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of Nys screaming. He moved quickly to her side. She was holding the orb and a blinding light was emitting from her hands. Eurytia was helping her down since she had started to sink to her knees.

Eone stood over Ren who had fainted as soon as the core touched Nys' hands. Liri went closer to Nys, "You must push through the pain or both you and Ren will perish."

Nys barely gave an affirmative as tears streamed down her cheeks, "Liri… I'm scared."

"You asked for this power you must carry through no matter what," Liri didn't bother assuaging her of her fears.

"You're so cruel…" she whispered as her eyes closed.

"With you, there is no other choice," he said knowing she was already unconscious.

---

Nys woke up sitting at an unfamiliar desk, but she knew she was in Luxarc still. The black desk was a clue. She stood up slowly and tried to gain her bearings.

"Ren! Hurry up." Cara said grabbing the back of her blazer. Nys was confused until she caught her reflection in the mirror. Black hair and gray eyes, she was in Ren's body.

"Cara don't rush me. I have so much to do and you still want to watch stars with Eurytia." Ren said. Nys figured she must be a guest now since she couldn't move freely anymore.

"Being a Star of Luxarc really doesn't matter. It's not like you have anybody to praise you but me." she poked him in the center of his back making him jump.

"Cara!" he grabbed her hand, "You're such a nuisance."

Cara stuck her tongue out at the teenager. Ren shook his hand and gathered his things.

They headed out of the classroom and to the courtyard. The school cleared out faster than normal which was good for the stargazers. It was still too early to watch stars, so Cara left to get snacks and Ren read a book. Nys noticed that Cara's personality was completely different from the two she knew. She cared about Ren.

"So, you're the first star of Luxarc this year," came a voice Nys was familiar with. It was Hyacinth's sister Ai. The woman looked different, but not physically. It was her demeanor. Her eyes were wide and the look on her face wasn't right.

"You're Ai, Hyacinth's sister. She's told me a lot about you." Ren said smiling.

"You're ruining everything."

"What?"

"You are in her way," Ai said smiling as she held her hand out and a golden light surrounded her hand. Ren lost consciousness before he could even understand what was happening.

Nys woke up in Ren's body surprised that she got knocked out too but then again if it was a memory it made sense. They were in Lueryn Park and Ai had dragged him from the car to the fountain.

"She has to be just like me. That's all that woman wants, but I don't want that. She should be free. I want her to be free but what can I do. She'll never surpass me but you, you'll ruin her."

"Ai…what are you talking about. I would never hurt Hyacinth." Ren didn't understand why the woman was being aggressive, but he was afraid of what she was planning.

"She's in love with you. She's madly in love with you and if mother finds out… she'll only get hurt. She'll only get broken because of you. You who's not worth her attention. You who strive to knock me from my throne!"

Ren knew there was more to this than Hyacinth liking him. He was getting closer and closer to surpassing her record at the university, "You're doing this for yourself."

"No! I would never do that. I-I'm doing this for Hyacinth. You don't even acknowledge her love. How could you deserve her! Then…then you try to take my place. No one can be better than me. No one deserves to be better than me." Ai said grabbing Ren by his collar and dragging him closer to the fountain. He struggled but his hands had been tied.

"I don't want to do this, but I can't lose. I can't lose to anyone. I can't even play simple games with my sister without having to beat her. I can never let anyone win. How sad…right? That woman made me a monster." Ai cried as tears welled up in her eyes.

"Ai please don't do this. You don't have to do this! I won't surpass you. I won't break your records. Please don't do this!"

"I wish I could believe you," Ai said pushing Ren into the fountain. She reached down and held him down, "But the only way to stop the anxiety and fear is this."

Ren struggled wildly but with his hands tied he couldn't get up. His legs were still over the edge of the fountain. He was going to die.

Nys felt panic rise as Ren's struggles lessened. She wasn't sure what would happen to her if Ren died even if everything was just memories.

"Devour him…we must devour him."

"He looks so delicious…so much hate and rage."

"Let him sate us for a little while."

Nys could hear the voices surrounding her as Ren drowned. The second Ren's struggling ceased the Void attacked. It surrounded him pulling him into the fountain and down into the abyss like place within the fountain. Nys wondered what exactly the fountain was. She thought everything would be over but then she heard a voice from the darkness.

This is your last gift to them.

Nys opened her eyes and she was in the garden. She looked down at the core in her hands and finally finished using her sacred palace art. "Last Gift."

The darkness tainting the core slowly faded away until there was nothing but a green core in her hands. It was riddled with cracks from being attacked by the Void. Nys didn't think it would hold up to any more damage.

"Did it work?" She asked.

"He's been purified. The void seems to be saved as well." Liri said with a strange look on his face. He was holding something back like he always did.

Eone came over and held her hand out. "Let me, he is my knight. I should fix the orb before he loses his true self."

Nys gave the woman the orb, confused as to what happened. She thought she had to do more but just seeing Ren's memories seem to be enough. Something was off but Nys couldn't place it.

Eone held out her free hand and a golden key appeared in her hand. Turning her inner wrist up, Nys saw the keyhole. It was just like Hyacinth, which made her glance at Eurytia wrist since she was still holding on to her. Her keyhole was there as well. Why was hers the only one that was different?

Eone unlocked her power and was enveloped in a soft green light that revealed her noble armor. It was reminiscent of Nys' noble armor, but it was pastel green and white. Her hair had even taken on the same green hue.

"Anima," Liri said acknowledging the queen before him. "Are you like Argenti."

The woman shook her head, "I was asleep at one time but being near Eurytia and Ren brought me back. Eurytia has always known who I was, so she stayed close to me."

The silver queen let go of Nys, so she could get to her feet. Nys stood up feeling very confused and tired. She stumbled but caught her balance before she fell. Something was wrong. She couldn't explain it, but she felt like she lost something A piece of her was missing.

"Nys?"

She looked at Liri and his eyes widened at her expression, "I did the right thing… right?"

The doll's expression softened, "Yes you did."

Nys felt no relief, only building anxiety. She grasped the hem of her skirt and tried to ignore the oddness she felt.

"Anima, Argenti," Liri called both women and they turned to him. "Nys is unwell, she needs to rest. Let us meet again soon so that we can talk."

"That will be fine," Eurytia said tending to Ren.

Liri agreed and went to Nys. He jumped on to her shoulder touching her face as he did. Teleporting them all the way back to Nys' home was not something he wanted to try but did so for Nys' sake. She was reaping the consequence of her action.

The woman collapsed to the floor as soon as they reached their destination. "Something wrong. It's missing. I don't know what it is, but it's gone. I'm missing something but I don't know what it is."

"It is the payment for saving them," Liri explained to the panicking woman.

Nys felt like she was going crazy. She felt like she had a hole in her chest, but there was nothing missing. She pressed her face against the hardwood floor trying to find relief from the anxiety.

"It will only get worse," Liri said stroking her hair gently. "It shouldn't be to this extent but saving Ren probably required more of you than you were ready to give.

"It's indescribable. This feeling can't be put into words." Nys said shaking as she closed her eyes. Her tears dripped off her face on to the floor.

"It will only continue," Liri warned her again, "For now, you should focus on getting used to this ominous feeling."

"What about Hyacinth? She won't be able to accept Cara joining us. That's what we are talking about when we meet again, right?"

"Then make her accept it. It's the only way you'll be able to fight the true enemy of this world." Liri stopped patting her head and she looked up at the doll.

"It's not just the Voids?" Nys asked.

"No, it's not. There is a reason I am gathering you and the other queens together. You don't have to worry over it right now, but it is something you should keep in mind. Rest for now and we'll figure out the rest later." The doll said sitting down beside the woman.

Nys sighed inwardly. She didn't even know if she should tell Liri about Ai. The woman had killed Ren, and something was terribly wrong with her. She should be worried about how Hyacinth would take the news about her sister murdering her crush.

Then she had realized she never figured out why Cara hated Ai. Did the woman already know the truth? She also wondered how she should even approach the subject of Cara join them with Hyacinth. She felt like she was betraying her but then Eone wasn't anything like Cara. Would that make it better? Then there was the voice of the woman in the reflection from the sacred palace. Then there was the fact that she knew without a shadow of a doubt Liri still was hiding something from her. Before she fell into that dream-like state, she saw the doll's reaction to the blade in the birdcage. Nys sighed deeply, things were getting complicated.

Hrrrm. Sounds like we'll need to take it slow/work carefully...I wonder if it's good for a Queen to have 'her court' under her? It might not be a bad idea to seek out Nys's 'former' Subjects, assuming they weren't killed...

Seeking out her subjects can be helpful, though all of them are Voids. But there are some that are like Lei, who can be reasoned with.

She couldn't explain it, but she felt like she lost something[.] A piece of her was missing.
A dot is missing too.

Nys noticed that Cara's personality was completely different from the two she knew. She cared about Ren.
What does she mean? Eone cares about Ren too.

There was a Void_Envy or something that attacked Hyacinth. The way she acted, I'd think Ai could be affected with something similar? Pride, perhaps? Although aren't Voids meant to kill the Queens? If Ai was affected a while back, wouldn't she be dead or corrupted by now?

Also, being mad at Hyacinth's crush? This was two and a half years ago, she was twelve (possibly eleven)! Although Ren's age was never given, he was stated to be Eurytia's boyfriend, who herself was 20 or 21 at the time. There is a lot more wrong with Ai's head than you'd think at first glance.

...How would Ren and Hyacinth know each other? Were they in the same class? Wait, when was Hyacinth admitted to Luxarc?

The woman shook her head, "I was asleep at one time but being near Eurytia and Ren brought me back. Eurytia has always known who I was, so she stayed close to me."
If she stayed close to you then how come Cara has not seen her for two years? Why are you both hiding from her in the first place? Why are Hyacinth and Nys in full control of their memories even when in their Queen-states, but Cara isn't?
"My foster brother went missing. Eurytia is his girlfriend. He means everything to her. Just like she means everything to me. After he went missing, we searched for him for six months. I gave up because I'm sure he committed suicide after the humiliation he suffered at the hands of that woman. He was always weak. Eurytia couldn't give up. I tried to stop her from continuing down a destructive path, but she wouldn't listen. In the end, we fought, and she told me it would be better if she searched alone. After that, she disappeared. Her apartment is empty, and she hasn't gone to school since then that was two years ago."
I am not sure about the timeline. Eurytia and Cara had a falling out. Argenti and Eone never did. Eurytia wanted to find Ren. Apparently she found him sometime in two years, and then... what? When did Argenti awaken, was it the same time Eurytia disappeared? When did she find Ren? Why are they hiding from Cara? What have they been doing for two years, and what do they plan to do? What did she mean by "he in not the Ren of that world" - does Ren have the same name in both worlds?

Complications
Two days had passed since the incident at the University. Nys decided to take the initiative and speak with Eone first since she didn't really know how to contact Eurytia. Nys stared at the apartment number for at least a solid minute before she knocked. Eone had sent the address to her phone, which made her wonder where the woman got her number from.

The door opened, "Come in."

Eone opened the door wider to let Nys enter. The apartment was huge compared to the one she stayed in with Nem. She knew it was upscale since it was in the center of the city near the pricey part of town but Nys didn't think it would be this large.

"Wow."

"It is quite big for an apartment. Come sit down." Eone said motioning to the couch. Nys did so and Eone sat beside her.

"I assume you have a lot to talk about, right?"

Nys nodded turning away from all the distractions in the room, "There's a lot going on that I'm starting to think I need to know about. I'm walking around in the dark and the person I should be able to trust isn't so trustworthy."

"You're aware that I'm not fully awake so I can't really help you with what happened outside of this world. My memories haven't returned."

"Okay, I won't ask about that, but can you at least tell me how you and Cara work? I mean that sounds odd but I'm sure you understood." Eone nodded to Nys.

"First, Cara isn't aware of me at all. I normally stay in the background and watch. Eurytia and Ren are both from the past world and with Cara spending most of her time with them I woke up, but improperly. There shouldn't be two personalities, but it happened." She explained admiring her reflection in the glass coffee table.

"But Hyacinth isn't like that at all. She doesn't have memories of the past or whatever."

"That is because they are still locked away in her sacred palace. When she was awakened those memories were prevented from surfacing. Whoever awakened her didn't want those memories to be exposed to her." Nys thought about how Liri was responsible for Hyacinth's awakening.

"Okay so more reasons not to trust him…" Nys whispered to herself before sighing.

"What else do you need?"

"Cara is kind of a… hard person to get along with. Is there a way to get her to cooperate with us?" Nys wasn't even sure how that would work.

"Yes, there is a way, and that would be to successfully awaken. Once that occurs then Cara will be me and I'll be Cara."

Nys thought that sounded complicated and she wasn't sure how to do that, "How?"

"The doll seems to understand how," Eone said looking over to Nys.

"You want to ask Liri to awaken you?"

"Of course, if I stay this way then how will Hyacinth accept Cara." She asked.

Nys felt she had a point, but she also was worried about what would happen to Cara. Before she could voice her concern there was a knock at the door. Eone glanced toward the door, "That should be Eurytia. I thought you might want to talk to her."

Eone got up and hurried to the door and opened it. The woman stepped inside with a small greeting. She was in normal attire, but her hair was still a glimmering silver. She looked like a queen in civilian clothes. It was strange.
"I'll leave you both to speak, I have some homework to finish," Eone said leaving the room.

Eurytia stared down at Nys before moving to sit down in an armchair, "She said you wanted to talk."

"Yes, I didn't expect it would be now, but no time like the present I guess."

"Thank you for saving Ren. I've been doing my best to hide him for a while." Eurytia said leaning back in the chair.

"I'm glad you let me help," Nys felt nervous around Eurytia. The woman was so mysterious and expressionless it was hard to figure out what she was thinking.

"Ask your questions, I have things to do."

"Oh, um… Could you explain what really happened between the three of you? In Ren's memories, I saw Cara but she was different from Eone and the Cara I know. Also, why did you hide from her?" Nys said nervously.

"If you know Ren's memories, tell me where they ended?"

"When he was drowned." Nys hesitated.

"Cara found him first. Seeing him dead for a second time let her memories leak out from her sacred palace. Terrible memories of the true world grabbed ahold of her and drove her mad. When I found her, she had lost control and started to destroy everything in her path. Eone couldn't help because she is not in full control. Cara is the dominate one."

"So, because her memories came back, she went insane?"

"Yes, without that doll's gift for awakening queens, those that wake improperly will end up with two personalities. When memories of the past surface the personality of this false world will lose their sanity. Maybe that is why your doll keeps their memories locked away." Eurytia explained.

"But—" Nys felt like it made sense, but she also still had doubts. If they were awakened properly shouldn't their memories just be a part of them instead of harming them?

"You must ask the doll whatever you are thinking. I have no answer for what he does. As for now, all that I know is that the Void must be stopped."

"What happened after that," Nys decided to move on.

"I had to fight off Cara and broke her memories. Everything she had was broken to stop her rampage. Everything she told you is false because those were the memories, I commanded her to have. To her, Ren ran away and never returned and I abandoned her to search for him. None of that happened. She lost her mind and I broke her to save her. But when I tore apart all those happy memories with Ren, she had to place her emotions somewhere. All her love and admiration for Ren fell on me." Eurytia stared at the ceiling as she spoke.

"Yet, those emotions became twisted and dark. If she was to really meet me, she would attack me because to her that is the only way to protect me. Being around me amplifies her emotions until she becomes psychotic. That is why I hid from her."

"What about Ai?"

"The Golden Queen, Chryseum."

"Wait, what?" Nys was taken aback.

"After I broke her memories Cara continuously spoke of Ai ruining everything. I didn't understand at the time, but she had seen what the woman had done. Even destroying her memories didn't clear away the hate she has for Ai killing Ren. That night I waited for Ren to return as a Void. When he did, he had all the memories of the past world. I received his core from him so that I could protect it from the Prince."

Eurytia continued, "To clarify everything. Ai was raised to be perfect under circumstances that broke her entirely. Ren was 17 when he entered Luxarc and he would graduate within two years with the highest honors. He would break Ai's record something she can't stand on a physical level. It took her four years to graduate with the same major he had. As for Ren and Cara they have been together since Ren was adopted into her family. Cara lost her entire family except for Ren at 12."

"How do you know all of this?"

"Because I have followed them since before, they were born," Eurytia said closing her eyes.

"How old are you?"

"Twenty-five years older than Liri." She explained.

To Nys that meant absolutely nothing. She didn't even know how old Liri was, "Okay finish the story."

"Hyacinth entered Luxarc around the same time Ren did, she was only ten then. Her childish crush on Ren went unnoticed. They took a few classes together and worked as partners on projects but to Ren he was always… looking at me. The person who reminded him of a forgotten past. During this time Cara was still in high school, but she found her way to the university every day sometimes before her classes were even over. She stayed under Ren like a duckling. He was her only family left. In the end, Ren was able to tell me about Chryseum's insanity and how she killed him to keep her spot at the school. She attacked specifically the month before his graduation two years ago because more than likely Hyacinth told her about how smart he was and when he was graduating."

"She's a queen and she killed Ren because of fear…pride." Nys didn't know how she was to respond to the information she was just given. She had to recruit a murderer. Hyacinth's sister was abused in such a way she didn't function normally when met with competition.

"All queens should be awakened and recruited. You don't have much of a choice in this," Eurytia said

Nys sighed so heavily she thought Eone might have heard it in the other room, "Their mother is a monster. A terrible, terrible monster."

"Indeed." Eurytia deadpanned.

"I have one more question," Nys said sitting up straight.

"What?"

"The blade in the birdcage. What was it?" Nys asked.

"Fifth Affliction. A broadsword bestowed upon the Royal Knight of Illacrimina. It is the Queen of that countries personal weapon. No queen had ever done such a thing as to trust a knight to that extent. It was unheard of and most of the other countries found it laughable, but that knight was so powerful he easily mastered it. If you want to know more about it, you would have to ask an inhabitant of Illacrimina, I am from Argenia so I don't know much other than the name and the brief story about it." Eurytia said sitting up and getting to her feet.

"You're leaving?"

"I have things to attend to," Eurytia said leaving the apartment without even a 'bye'.

"It's frustrating to know what you would feel in a situation but be unable to feel it," Eone said stepping back into the room. "I can't remember her personality from the world before but when she was with Cara and Ren she acted so convincing it made me believe she was just pretending to be herself when she had emotions."

"It must be hard for her and you. Everything feels complicated. I need to tell Hyacinth." Nys said almost dreading that conversation. With so many things happening Nys was starting to feel overwhelmed.

"I'll go with you. It be will better if she meets me like this. Then I can apologize on Cara's behalf." Eone said grabbing her shoes and putting them on.

"Alright, that might be better. So, I guess the party has gotten bigger." Nys said leaving with the woman.

"abused"
It is the Queen of that countries personal weapon.
"country's"

"I can't remember her personality from the world before but when she was with Cara and Ren she acted so convincing it made me believe she was just pretending to be herself when she had emotions."
Eurytia made Eone believe she was pretending? So she wasn't acting very convincing after all?

Okay, so none of the queens awakened by Liri on-screen were awakened "properly", i.e. erasing their original personality. Good for us.
Another impossibility arrived, a queen that he didn't awaken and she was headed toward the gardens.
Liri referred to a queen awakened without him as an impossibility, but he didn't know about those two. He did, however, know about Ai.

Is Ai awakened or not? Eurytia calls her by her "other" name, Chryseum - does that confirm it? Was it Liri who did this? Was it the reason behind Ai's insanity? He should have known what he was doing, so why then did he treat Hyacinth differently?
Of course, Ai is still Ai to some extent, and she gave us no indication of knowing of the other world, so perhaps it's something else that went wrong.
That night I waited for Ren to return as a Void. When he did, he had all the memories of the past world. I received his core from him so that I could protect it from the Prince.
What prince? The only Prince we know is Nem, the Prince of Illacrimina (?) Why would they hide Ren from him? Because he was a Void, and Voids must be destroyed? Does Nem go on hunts?

Did we get the Fifth Affliction for ourselves? I see it on Nys' character sheet, but isn't it Liri's weapon? Of course, he might not be able to wield it anymore...

@Nevill So far Ai is not awakened. Eurytia refers to her by her other name just out of respect.

Eone's comment was meant to mean that Eurytia was actually good at acting. Eone didn't know Eurytia was without emotions until the incident in the garden. I think I should probably reword the sentence.

Nem is indeed that prince, he does also go out on hunts for Voids that are beyond saving and he would destroy Ren if he came across him, but for completely different reasons.

Nys has always had Fifth Affliction since she became Lux. Nys has her own version of the weapon. The Fifth Affliction in the birdcage is still there.

The one is the birdcage is obtainable through Liri.

All the queens are technically reincarnations, except for Eurytia. She is actually from the other world. The same for Nem and all the Voids. They are all from the other world.
